Aulani Member Celebration - Direct Purchasers only?

There is a post on the Aulani board that mentions a resale member was denied going to the Member Celebration at the resort. Is this common? The event is not advertised as a “membership extra” like TOTWL or Moonlight Magic. Do other resorts even have this? I’ve never noticed it. On DCL they allow everyone. Seems like its pretty counterproductive since the goal is to butter you up to buy more points
