Aulani in Hawaii

We were invited to a "preview" this week and the hotel is beautiful! My kids got to take pictures with Stitch and now they are begging to go stay there. We're starting to plan for next year some time....Woo hoo!

, I know little to nothing of Hawaii therefore any comments, suggestions, and tips will be an enormous help!

I'd suggest getting a good guidebook (either buy one, or get one from a library) that covers all the Islands. You may find (like we did 20 years ago, we've been going every year since then) that Oahu is not the island your family will enjoy the most!

I like the Moon Press book, but there are quite a few really good guides to Hawaii.

I guess I should add there could be one huge drawback to Aulani....

The closest place for shopping, movies, groceries, food, etc is Kapolei. And the traffic there can be absolutely horrific if you hit it at the wrong time. It's improving now as they are adding roads, but it can get really bad at peak times.

On the plus side, you'll find anything you need there. Safeway, Costco, Target, KMart, etc and lots of places to eat.
