Aulani - How many can "fit" in a 1-bedroom?

The DVC point charts on DVC Resale Market indicate that the 1-bedroom at Aulani "sleeps 5". However, when I search for a cash reservation on Aulani's website, I have selected 4 adults and 2 children (age 4 and 2), and a 1-bedroom pops up as an option for me.

Does this mean that they aren't counting the kids towards the "5" max capacity? Or do kids count as "half" a person?

In reality, with a King, a Queen sleeper sofa, and a single pull down, we could easily squeeze 2 adults on the queen, 2 adults and 1 kid on the King, and 1 kid on the single pull down.

I'm concerned that when I would actually try to link our Disney profiles (for magic bands, dinner reservations, pool wristbands, etc.) that we'd be short-changed and capped at 5 for whatever reason.

At Disney resorts, “one child under age 3 in a crib” is allowed in addition to the stated capacity of the room. So the 2 year old isn’t being counted. Enjoy, because once that child turns 3, you’ll need a 2BR for your party of 6!

I will say that my kids didn’t like the sleeper sofa at Aulani and they were not fully adult sized. I would not be happy on a sleeper sofa myself! Aulani is very point heavy though so I get it.

Appreciate the feedback. We do have enough points for a 2-bedroom but only enough for Island View (I’m assuming we’ll have no chance at standard view at 7-months). So this realization that we can suffice with a 1-bedroom is useful as another option.

One thing to consider: the Aulani 1BR has only one toilet!

I cannot overstate the benefits of having 3 bathrooms in a 2 bedroom vs 1 bathroom in a 1 bedroom….

6 people and one bathroom…. when you will also have a lot of pool/ocean time….
