Aulani Excursion Roberts Hawaii Volcano Tour

Has anyone used Roberts Hawaii Tours to go from Oahu to Hawaii for the day long volcano tour? I have seen mixed reviews. Also did anyone do a similar tour they could recommend with a different company?

How about viatours through AAA ? Has anyone any reviews of these tours to hawaii volcanos?

There is a Christopher Arruda on the big Island. However you have to meet him at 3-4 am. He takes you to a live lava flow. I can't tell you how it was because we had to cancel our tour because of a death of one in our group. There were rave reviews. you might want to check out flyertalk dot com and in the forum for destinations. that is where I got the information. He was part of bigislandoutfitters. Enjoy

I wouldn't recommend going to another island for a day trip in Hawaii. The airports are on the opposite side of the islands' attractions (because who wants a jet flying through their resort view), so by the time you get to the airport, take the flight, get to the attraction, half your day is gone. If you want to see the Volcano National Park, just tack a day or two onto the end of your trip to go to the Big Island, then fly home from there. Or beginning of your trip in reverse.

Day tripping to other islands is only something I do if I have to for work or a test or grad school. Really not a great way to spend a vacation, and airfare between the islands is really expensive now that one of the two major airlines went out of business a few years ago.

We are currently on the Disney Wonder on the first Hawaii cruise and they contracted with Roberts for all of their excursions. We took 5 of them total and were beyond pleased with Roberts and the tours. The drivers/guides were extremely well versed and entertaining as well as educational. We did visit Halakea volcano on The Big Island and were thrilled. I would recommend checking out some Cruise Trip reports here on the DIS once folks return (5/14) and start posting on their excursion experiences.
