Anyone rented the casabellas at Aulani? If so, would you do it again? We're sun worshipers so I'm wondering which section is the best for sunlight, and can you reserve them in advance or is it day-of only? Any issues with availability? Thanks!

We have rented the casabellas at Aulani, we rented one on the beach at the lagoon. Both DH and I are pretty fair, so we love the casabellas because we can pull up the awning and stay in the shade. If you're a sun worshipper, I'm not sure the awnings on casabellas would be something you would want?? Btw, there is a discount if you're a DVC Member. Aulani is AWESOME!

Thanks! It looks like you can push the awnings back on the casabella can't you? I'm assuming so. I just meant I didn't want the casabellas to be under a tree or under an overhang from a building or something like that.

For the ones on the beach, did you rent in advance or day of? If you did it day of, what time did you get down there? Just wondering if availability is a concern.

Yes, you most assuredly can have the awnings back and down for full sun. If you're in one on the beach, I KNOW you won't have shade unless it's overcast. And even then you can get a nasty burn and FAST, even if you are a sun bunny so be careful. :cutie:

As I recall those on the beach are only booked the day of. We went down late morning or noon. There are quite a lot of casabellas on the beach so unless you are at Aulani during a super busy period I don't think you will have any problems getting one on the beach if you go relatively early in the day. The ones below AMA AMA are another story. Pretty sure they can be pre-booked. When booking casabellas at our Maui TS, which I do a year in advance (yep, a year!), I lean heavily on the great staffers there for the ones that in our case, DO have shade. The CM's at Aulani in Recreation should be able to give you some good direction for the type of sun exposure you are wanting. Good luck! Happy planning!

The only casabellas that can be pre-booked are the ones located on the two Ama Ama decks. They are also in full shade. If you want the sun, you would need to book one on the beach the day of. There usually is availability from what I have seen, and I have been there when the resort was at capacity.

Thank you both! Great info and exactly what I wanted to know!
