Aulani Beach Rules!

Can someone assist in answering a couple Beach questions....

Do you have to reserve beach chairs and umbrella's? if so, where, if not, is it a first come first serve basis, and do you basically "own" it for the rest of the day.

What is the rule on coolers on the beach? are they allowed? soft coolers? hard coolers?

All the beaches in Hawaii are public so coolers are fine. The beach chairs are first come first served and if you're around they would be yours for the day. I don't believe there are CM's down there checking like they do around the pool, but perhaps that has changed.

The CMSs are pretty good with the beach loungers - they are always on the lookout for non-wristband wearers and asking them to leave. They are pretty prompt at clearing discarded towels from no longer required lounges.

I'm pretty certain that alcohol is somewhat prohibited from Hawaiian beaches but treated as ok as long as coolers are discreet. Aulani actually does have food and beverage service even down at the beach.

Outside alcohol is not permitted on the beach.

I think it is because Hawaii beaches do not permit alcohol. Hotels get permission to serve alcohol.

Not that you asked, but another beach rule is no smoking on any Hawaii beaches. It's the law.
