Hi all- We are taking our first trip to Aulani in August and are so excited! Aulani is full while we are there and we have family coming with us that are going to stay at the JW Marriott.

Does anyone know if there will be problems with them joining us on the beach or at the pool at Aulani? If so, does anyone know if we would have the same problem at the JW??

Thanks!

No problem with them joining u on the beach but aulani is very strict with non guest using their pool facilities.

The JW is much more lax but that is probably because their pool is pretty bland.

At Aulani, you will get wrist bands for each member of your party on each day. If you have a 2 bedroom you can get up to 9 (I think) wrist bands if you list extra names on your villa, on a 1 bedroom you could get 5. If, say, you wanted the kids to all have the pool use on one day you could just have them all use the keys/names from the rooms listed and the adults could all head to the beach or something. This was what was suggested to us when we went with family who were staying at the Marriott (though they were staying at the Waikiki resort, ended up not coming out to Aulani and flying home instead.).

as others have mentioned you can use the beach but the pool is for those staying at the resort currently. they do check names and keys, actually scanning them into the system, I don't know if they do, I should have asked, but they may also note in the system if wrist bands were given away or not for the day.

I say use the beach but don't risk it in the pool.

The beaches in Hawaii are all public use. So anyone can come over and use the beaches at Aulani. But the pool is a different story and as other have said they use a wristband system to prevent non-guests from using it.

We just got back today :) They do make note in the system whether or not you have picked up your wristbands for the day. Also, I should also mention that while anyone can use the beach, you can only use the Aulani beach chairs if you have an Aulani wristband, but the JW does have their own chairs. You could meet up in the middle! It's funny someone mentioned how bland the JW pool is - we ate lunch over there, and the pool is super boring, lol.
