Just completed a seven day stay at aulani and loved it. We had a weird experience the last few days of our stay however. We stopped each day at the marketplace for newspapers, sunscreen, etc. the first few days we asked about the dvc discount and would have to show our dvc membership card. This was expected, as we have had to show the card at wdw, so we knew we had to have it. However for the last few days, the staff at the marketplace wouldask us for our room key, our dvc card and our id or drivers license. Our room keys had our names and the names matched our dvc member cards, so why the need for drivers license? The staff indicated it was a new policy. Is there a widespread problem with people carrying dvc member cards just to get the small discount? I realize members rent points, but are people also giving others their membersip card as well? One of the joys of disney was not having to carry a wallet. By the way, we werent asked to show id when we checked out and used a credit card to cover room charges. Is this just aulani or a new disney policy?
