Has anyone heard if there will be any kind of dining plan offered at Aulani?

I can't imagine it.

There's only dining plans at theme park resorts, and the Disneyland dining plan bears absolutely no resemblance to the WDW one (nor can DVC members get the Disneyland plan - I can't actually imagine why anyone would want it)

No dining plans are offered at HHI or VB so it is very unlikely that there will be one for Aulani. Don't believe there are any for Disneyland, either. Dining Plans appear to be a WDW feature.

Yes, there is one for Disneyland, but it is not available to DVC members staying on points and it is a voucher-based prepayment system, not the coded "dining credit" system used by WDW. It's pretty much just like using money, except you can't get change for the vouchers.

Thanks, that is what I thought. Just hoping for one since it is SO EXPENSIVE in Hawaii:scared1: it would make it easy to plan and save.

We always find our best dining plan in Hawaii is to buy some of the wonderful fresh stuff we find at the roadside stands and use timeshare kitchens to prepare our meals if we want "real" food. Not only is food expensive in Hawaii, but good restaurants are few and far between.

Yes, food in Hawaii is usually quite expensive. There's a lot of great local food. Try the traditional Hawaiian plate lunch - a meat choice (usually pork or chicken), mac salad and rice - it's really good and usually $6-8 - I won't comment on whether it's healthy.

Hawaii is wonderful - get off the beaten path and out of touristy areas - the people are warm and welcoming.

But, if staying at Aulani, it may be difficult to leave the resort :cloud9:

Okay, groceries are expensive here, but eating out means portions are large enough to share and if you avoid tourist traps Honolulu has fantastic cheap food. Most noodle shops in downtown Honolulu are fantastic, as are many of the dim sum places. Try the local plate lunches any time of day. Unfortunately most of what I can recommend is far from Koolina since I went to college in the city part of the island, but there are tons of very reasonable options on every island if you're okay with eating something that is somewhere between asian and american. Talk to the staff when you get there and you'll probably be surprised at how cheap decent food can be on Oahu.

We been to Ko'Olina multiple times and here is what we do. We stop at Costco on the way to the resort to pick up a few meals. It is even better now as they just built a brand new Costco less than 10 minutes from the resort. Anyways, we usually pick up a marinated meat -- they have all kinds or filet mignon ($30 for 4 pieces); roasted chicken; bread; lunch meat; water; diet pepsi; cinnamon rolls or muffins for breakfast; eggs; asparagus; carrots with hummus or tortilla chips with 7 layer mex dip; sides --- mashed potatoes, stuffing (which they have during the holiday times); scalloped potatoes; chinese chicken salad; chicken alfredo with pasta, sliced cheese, and do not forget the pineapple (the best you'll ever have in your life-- much better than the mainland). We usually do about 3 meals in and 4 meals out. For our recent trip, I bought Turkey breast roasted it for an hour and bought sides like mashed potatoes; scalloped potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing & a bag of green beans (about $60 worth of food). We used the leftover turkey to make sandwiches. Then, we used the leftover sides to eat with our Filet mignon ($30) and asparagus. Then, the final dinner we had was the alfredo Chicken with pasta and leftover vegetables. A dinner at any restaurant will be at minimum $100 for 4 people. I got 3 dinners for $120. Then, after Costco I hit Target (I use to go to Safeway but I like the Super Target better -- it is brand new). There I pick up bacon; butter; milk; ice cream, pancake syrup, jam; peanut butter, cereal, mayo, mustard, etc... Then, I bring with me cinnamon, steak seasoning, salt & pepper; vanilla; etc... (all in those tiny tupperware containers). Then, with the bread I can make french toast. Eggs & bacon with toast. Cereal with fruit one day. We only eat one breakfast out and the rest are in with stuff we bought from Costco and Target. Then, for the last of the bread I make Peanut butter & jam sandwiches for the plane ride home. Works out great for us!

I don't know...maybe. They have a 2 CS places, a buffet place, and a signature dining place. They may have some sort of package but I assume not the type they offer at WDW. This is very different from HHI. I guess it is more similar to VB and there they don't have one:confused3

The reason they might offer one is because there are so many resorts to eat at and local places they may want to keep guests at the resort spending money. Who knows?
