I have read a few threads saying how hot the Lights action motor car stunt show is & that it should be avoided on a hot mid day :sunny: . I would also think the 3pm MK parade unless we got a seat in the shade...anything else to pass up so we don't pass out? :rotfl2:

I made the Lights Motors Action at noontime in August mistake. I was just so lulled into a false sense of security having no other trouble with heat that week.... I would avoid anything where you are out in the sun, with no swimming or air conditioning for hours at mid-day. Parades & LMA are the only things I can think of off the top of my head.
I know AK can be challanging in August as well. We do AK in small chunks in the heat. We wear clothes we can get wet & dry quickly so we can hop on Kali to cool off as needed. If you have little folks, watch your time in the Boneyard - that can get pretty brutal in the mid-day summer sun.

Other than that, you can be in & out of water & A/C enough that the heat isn't much of a problem. If you feel yourself heating up, head for a shop or an attraction before you get unbearably hot.

The Indian Jones show is covered, but they pack you in there. We wouldn't do it again in the heat of an Aug. day.

We found the best strategy for us was to be at the park at opening, leave after lunch & not return until dinner or after. We were also one of those families that made the mistake of staying at MGM for lights...just awful. We didn't see any parades except a glimpse at MGM because the sun is still strong at 5:30.

Standing in line for the Haunted Mansion is a bit of a bummer, too. It is covered, but brutal in the heat. It's one of my favorites, but I wait for a shorter line if possible - not handling heat & humidity well these days!

The Indy Speedway can be rough - both waiting in line and then driving in the heat and sun. My kids enjoy it more at night in the summer.

I second this. We always go in August. It's been terrible every year but I love that ride so I always go on it. I think it's a good idea to buy a water fan in times like these.
I always find the heat in AK to be unbearable :confused3 Kali River Rapids is good to cool off.

We waited forever to ride big thunder mountain, and for some reason it seemed so hott i could melt away. and the ride really isnt that great worth the wait. the wait is all outside too...stinks big time

:thumbsup2

I think just getting to be there in August would be good for your heart!!

I think if you're sensible and do as I very wise and handsome man once told me--go early in the mornings, cool off/rest at the hotel in the afternoons, and re-attack in the evenings--you'll be okay.

Have fun.

I was thinking of the Speedway too. The wait seems forever and extra hot. Then you hop in a hot car on a hot speedway and soak in hot exhaust. I'd hit this in the morning or after sunset.
