Please, if you have been to WDW in August, give me your opinions. I'm not too concerned with crowd size, I'm more concerned with heat and humidity. Thanks :wave2:

We went the last week in August 1996. I actually did not think it was that bad. However, that was before children so my tolerance level was very high.

I loved it. But, then again, I don't mind the heat & humidity. I won't lie - It was most definately very hot & very humid. But, you are in & out of AC all day, you can swim, we used chilled bandanas on our necks when necessary....drank alot - Had a great time. We did try to make use of early entry & e-nights to tour in the cooler parts of the day....spent alot of time in the pool. We didn't worry about how we looked, if we were in a Park & we were hot, we found water & got ourselves wet to cool down.

We are going back this coming Aug.

We went the end of August 2002 and also this past August. This year we even got "stuck" at Disney for 4 extra days because we were there for hurricane Frances. Not what we wanted, the kids missed the first day of school. Still, the crowds are low (our schools start after Labor Day), and the heat does not bother us too much. We will do it again, even after the whole hurricane episode.

We have done WDW in August every year since 1998. Last year we stayed 2 days longer because of Charley. It rains almost everyday so be prepared with rain gear.

It is HOT HOT HOT HOT!! and HUMID, however if you take it easy, drink lots of water it is fine.

We do plan on going back this August as well. :)

We have been twice in August now. Aug.'03 wasn't too bad. There was a lot of rain, but we had our trusty ponchos so it worked out okay. Then, there was last August. OMG!! We arrived the same day, but about 6 hrs. earlier than, Hurricane Charley. I have never been in such heat/humidity in my life. When people asked me why I would go to WDW in August my reply had always been..."It's hot/humid here in NE too, but Florida is set up for it. A/C, pools, water parks." After H.Charley moved on, the humidity was brutal. We were exhausted every day by dinner-time. There were a lot of nights that we were back in our villa by 7:00 due to that humidity. It just drained us.

I don't think I'll ever get my dh back to WDW during the summer months again. We were there for Thanksgiving and he fell in love with the weather then. But, dd and I would go back in Aug. again.

I've gone in August a couple of times and plan on going back this August. Summer is hot and humid no matter when you go, but as others have said with planning it is very doable. The one thing we don't do often in the summer is watch the afternoon parades. It is just too hot to sit still that long.

We've gone in Aug the last 4 years. We are prepared for the heat, humudity, crowds, and fun!!!!

August is great, the water parks rock, the people are awesome and it's always a great time at WDW; take it in stride, use the pools, water rides and be sure to have water all the time. Enjoy!

Have never been in August, but have been to WDW seven previous times in June/July. Just booked for 2005 for 8/4 through 8/11 at the Beach Club.

Ive gone twice in August for our anniversary. This past year we went through Hurricane Charley - definelty not a highlight. I woudl go again but I want to try other times too. My favorite thing is late park hours and everything open and the heat. (I come from a cold state so the heat to me is great. Also the tan I get is great too)

The only time I went in August was when I was 16, and it was really exhausting - even though I was young and supposed to be full of energy! I remember my parents saying "never again in August - we're too old for this!"

I pretty much felt too old for it too - and we're from Chicago, where humidity in the summer is pretty much 100%. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the sun and I are not friends, as I am very pale and get headaches often.

I just remember being drained and headache-y from the heat and humidity, but that could just be me. I would much rather go when it's cool, but it wasn't so bad that I would turn down a free trip during August!

I agree it's hot, humid and rainy in August! But I have never gone any other time of year than the summer months since it has been the only time I could go. As others have said, take it slow, drink a lot of water, and if possible go early to the parks, take an afternoon break and go back in the evening. It seemed to work for us this past August 04. I don't think my SIL even took a break because she was having so much fun! ::yes::
The Magic worked for us, a family of 8 :D
May it do the same for you!
::MinnieMo :wave:

We where there August of 03 and I would do it again. We didn't get as much pool time as I would have liked - its seemed to rain as soon as we suited up! But at least it was warm rain and we still managed to get around (although next time I would bring more changes of shoes!!)

I would consider going in Aug. but probably won't. Only because we were there early Aug. 2004 and got cut short a day due to hurricane Charley.....
