August plans

So we had two rooms booked across the street at Maingate for early August. I am pretty concerned about this though. We are thinking about upgrading and staying at the Disneyland hotel instead. It's going to cost quite a bit more obviously. but the extra benefits of getting into the parks early might make it worth it for us. I feel like its going to get pretty crazy, especially if they start limiting how many people can get into the parks.

If I had not already purchased plane tickets I would probably cancel the whole thing at this point, but here I am. plane tickets in hand, trying to figure out how best to manage this thing.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I'm honestly not even sure if they'll be back open in August. High risk areas will probably take months to reopen. Shanghai Disneyland is in its 4th month of park closure. For opening, they're implementing very strict protocols for entry (masks, temperature readings, special QR codes) and there's likely to still be a lot shut down.

Being from Canada, I'm even more concerned about the airlines still being non operational. I'm close enough that i can drive, i suppose - if the borders are open.

But at this point, the real question is, do i even WANT to go? Will it be fun if they have weird entry requirements, distancing rules, longer waits, and a bunch of closed rides?

And most importantly, can it still be the happiest place on Earth with the second wave due to hit later this year?

Yeah, I am worried about this too. :(

We are supposed to go in the first week of August and I'm in the same boat. At this point, I've pretty much abandoned August (short of canceling our plane ticket..) and looking at the holiday season. I have a feeling the holidays will be crazy this year- maybe more so than August even if the parks are open. Hard to say what the parks will be like when they do open and what type of capacity restrictions might be in place.

On the other note, we tend to always go at peak times of the year (summer and holidays) and never stay on site. We get by just fine without the extra magic hour. If you utilize Maxpass, you really don't need to stay on site IMO.

We're supposed to go in August too. Our tickets are purchased and flights are booked so I guess we wait and see.

We had a nearly a week in August booked and 4 days in December booked. We for sure are not going to do the December trip. Which I am really upset about, but we suspect this will come back in the winter months.
