We are going to be in WDW Aug. 15-23. Based on everyones experience, are the crowds starting to thin out by this time? Or are they at least manageable.
We were there that same week last year (the 16-23rd) and it seemed quite manageable to me. It was also the last week they held eride nights so if you are staying on property take advantage of that. The best part was that eride nights started early (7pm once and 8pm once) and it is great if you have younger kids like we do! We did not "commando-style" the parks by any means but we rode everything we wanted, used the Fastpasses, and did early entry only on Sunday for the MK. We got LOTS of rain - thunderstorms too - was a bit hard to swim in the afternoon cause the pool was often closed so we had to schedule extra time at the pool cause my kids loved the AKL pool so much.
We were there last August 14-21. We found the crowds manageable and took advantage of fast pass also. I think when it seemed to crowded we just went back to the hotel to rest or swim and then we went back when we were refreshed. All in all I didn't think it was as bad as I feared.
Around what time did the thunderstorms/rain roll in, around 11AM/noonish, or later afternoon - like 3PM or so? I know it's a picky question, but we'll be down there at the end of August as well, and it would be great to be able to get a feel for when we'll be getting wet! (Not that I expect it to rain on cue, LOL! )
Schmeck,
We have been to WDW three different years, at the end of August. Days are hot and humid, with a daily 3pm rainstorm. As long as you are prepared for this type of weather, you will have a great time.
