We have an upcoming trip in August. I was wondering what other women do with their hair. My daughter and I were thinking of cutting our hair short before the trip but then we won't be able to pull it back in a ponytail.

Would you rather have short hair that may be hot since its covering your neck or long hair that can be pulled up when vacationing in August?

I hate in pictures how I always have it pulled back and frizzy from the heat. But the though of straightening and leaving it down to look nice would be awfully hot.

Haha! Weird question I know

It's not a weird question at all, Brave Little Toaster! When I lived in the South, I was accustomed to humidity. I surrendered to the frizziness, but there are many products that could mitigate impact to your hair. The burden of those products can be in over-applying it.

I've always preferred having the flexibility to put my hair up in buns, braids, pinned curls, or left flowing. On the few times I had short hair, I preferred having a headband to keep my hair from "tickling" my neck. Don't forget your sunscreen on the back of your neck. :) Another consideration is whether you prefer to wear hats, and if your hair style choice would impact the hat you're choosing for that day. Perhaps you'll tour the park in a creative fascinator!

I hope you have fun in the parks in whatever style you choose to celebrate that day. :flower3:

I almost always wear mine at least long enough to pull up in a pony tail when I go to Disney. I'm actually putting off cutting it until I get back for just that reason. I have to wear a cap, no matter what the season as I'm allergic to the sun, so a pony tail looks a little better when you have to take the cap off in a restaurant (Mama taught me never to wear a hat at the table so even at QS it comes off) and I can start the day with it down then pull it up and through the hole in the back. For rides when I take the cap off, it doesn't fly in my face. I can just run to the bathroom and pull it back up and smooth it out if necessary. When it's short (er) I have hat head, especially if I have bangs and that is harder to fix. I don't worry about pictures, we don't take them since we have been going for so long it is kind of redundant, how many pictures of the castle does one need (says the woman with one as her avitar). I also don't worry too much about what it looks like, I live in Georgia, I have semi-curly, semi-frizzy hair all the time anyway, short, long medium it doesn't matter. I don't wear make up to the parks either, I'm on vacation.

My girls and I have long hair. Top knots are a great option for hot, humid weather.

I live here and my hair goes all the way to my butt. But I mostly wear it in a pony and in the park I add a hat (don't like shades).

Funny timing on this. I've almost always had short hair when we went in past years but this year I've been growing my hair out..And I've been trying to decide if I want to cut it back down so I'm cooler or attempt to wear pony tails/buns the whole trip.

Funny that I was thinking about it from the opposite perspective until I read this.

Our last trip was in August and I had my girls wear their hair up in pony tails and buns. I contemplated cutting their hair before the trip but we had an appointment scheduled at the BBB and I wanted their hair to be long enough for them to be able to pick it up so I opted to leave it alone. I ended up trimming my hair enough that I could wear it down and it would not "get in the way" but long enough that, if it got too hot, I could style it up. We live in a pretty humid area though so I knew the heat wouldn't bother me or my girls as much and I knew to take a shower the night before because taking one right before leaving is always recipe for a very frizzy disaster LOL Braids are cute too, they have a bunch of ideas online, you could experiment with a few and see how they work out for you all.

My daughters and have appointments for keratin treatments before our august trip. We had it done for the holidays and LOVE being able to wake up and go without having to worry about frizzies

I personally hate short hair on women and girls so i wouldn't cut it.

what I do is I don't wash it in the morning but tie it up. Wear it up all day until we shower for dinner. I then dry and straighten it and it usually stays straight at night .

My daughters and I all have long hair. We alternate between buns, ponytails, braids, and leaving it down in the evenings after we have had a break.

My 3 girls and I all have long super thick hair. The girls usually have braids, ponytails, or buns for the park, mine is usually hot mess in a pony tail, or bun thing, sometimes I attempt to "fix it" but it ends up in a messy bun or something then. Good luck, I'm not sure I would cut it just for the trip.
