I quite often travel with my adult children and it's always on a Disney cruise! We love it!!!

100+ pages is actually small potatoes compared to some other threads. Repositioning threads tend to go 5+ threads at like 250 pages each. Our WBTA last year went to 10 threads!! I found that interacting with other cruisers on these threads can make the trip even more enjoyable. The first time I joined a thread was for a double dip in 2008. I traveled with my Mom who is electronically challenged (actually she doesn't even care to learn) so she had no idea except what I told her about the DIS. That trip we had cruise lanyards for the group and everytime we saw a lanyard or someone saw ours, it was like an ice breaker. She thought it was like having a big extended family!!

Wow ... 10 threads! I could seriously be lost in the conversation at that rate.

In any case, our group is splitting up and doing different excursions in every port. Everyone is paired off, except for me where I'm doing the "Experience the Yukon" bike adventure. Nobody else in our party signed up for that one. Not sure there are that many on a cruise that think a 38 mile bike ride is fun. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a little out of shape (unless round is a shape) but I ride 30+ miles every weekend so I'm sure I'll enjoy the ride!

So far I've not found anyone else who has either done or is planning to do this excursion on DIS.

We've booked three cabins and the reservations are linked. We all have late seating. Wife and I have Palo dinner for two reservations on the final night.

I've hesitated to post here because I tend to be more outgoing than the rest of our party. I think they like to go at their own pace when meeting people for the first time.

My wife and I have been on a CCL and a RCL cruise, one of which was a repositioning cruise to Vancouver. This is the first cruise for everyone else and the first Disney cruise for all of us. We are all pretty big Disney fans so it has never worried us that we are all older and aboard a Disney cruise.

This thread, at 100 plus pages, is pretty overwhelming so there is no way I can say that I know what's going on here, but it sounded like a good idea to at least pop in and say ... HI!

My sons are 20 and 18.. they are very worried that they are the only ones on the cruise past club/lab/stack age..can we arrange a time/place for the older "kids" to meet??

I think a meeting time would be a great idea! I hope our "kids" think so too! Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion? How about first evening at some point. I was going to go look at a Navigator from previous Alaska sailings to see if there might be a good time to meet. We have 2nd dinner seating.

Shipped the FE gifts today to the Pan Pacific hotel. Not a bad deal with UPS and certainly beats lugging them across country and giving USAIR more money for an additional bag!

What's the sail-away party? My "kids" are about the same age, but not sure they would be up for an "arranged meeting" but I think it would be a good idea. A nice little ice breaker.

Sail-away is the opening event top side with the crew trying to get people to dance while we pull out of port. There are usually drink specials. It is for all ages and keeps people busy after the life boat drill and before dinner.

Just wondering if there are other families with 2 boys or "hockey players" that would like to meet up for lunch or coffee pre-trip, or early on in the trip. My boys are 5 & 9. They love hockey. Both are well-behaved, polite kids who can be a little shy. Would be great to meet a fellow dis-er with something in common early on. It's our first cruise and are NOT travelling with a big group or family. Anyone in the same boat... pardon the pun.

We r a family of 4...w/2 dss! Our boys r 9 and 12. Not hockeyvplayers, but basketball players! Would love to meet up, so the boys have some friends. Our boys r quiet/shy...our 12 yo is more reserved.

Our DDs are 16 also. I think it's a great idea to try to "run into" the other DIS families during the sail away party, or even at Canada Place while we're waiting to board. I'll be wearing lime green (it's so flattering) and I think it was Geffric who said he will, also. We also have late dinner.

BTW Geffric ( She) is wearing lime green and has lime green Mickey Heads on my luggage and camera bag... LOL.. once you meet my 2 sons - Geoff and Eric.. you'll understand my user name..LOL


Anyway.. since everyone is talking about a "causal" meet.. can we just walk by each other before sail away?? or other suggestions??

I have no idea how to go about organizing a "meet"...what about trying to find each other during the sail away party when the ship is leaving port? Or will that be too chaotic?

Also...those of you with kids in the 5-10 year old range...do you think your kids will be spending a lot of time in the kids clubs? Mine are so excited about that I doubt we will see them for the whole cruise!
