I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone. Great to see lots of girls aged 9 & 11, my girls can be shy and I don't think they can be together in the kids club so it will be nice to get to know others.....

Hello all! We have officially paid our deposit and are ready to start planning

The cast:

Bzzelady-Chris (the great vacation planner...my DH calls me Mrs. Disney!)

DH-Brian (willing to go along for the ride but already fretting because this trip means that he will have to give up Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach for 2011)

DD-AJ (will turn 12 on the last night of the cruise-when told of the cruise plan, her official comment was, "I don't think so...I'm a tropical girl!")


DM-Jane (wanted to see Alaska but her idea of roughing it is a hotel without room service...thank heavens for DCL)
DD-Dave (Alaska outdoors veteran but never been on a cruise ship)


The accomodations:

DM and DD will be in secret verandah room #6134

Bzzelady, DH, and DD will be across the hall in #6135



I'm already planning out our pre cruise adventure. We will be flying into Seattle on either Friday or Saturday pre cruise, taking a day to explore Seattle, and then driving into Canada. Planning to drive to Whistler that day on the Sea to Sky highway and stay in Vancouver for the next 2 nights pre cruise. I'm working on pulling lots of information and I will add what I have found to contribute to the first page of this thread.

I love everyone's artwork for the cruise logo and already downloaded the song onto my MP3 player!

Oh my gosh.... I just realized that my DD (Princess) and her DF (Darth Vader) will no longer be the "teenie boopers" on the ship during this cruise, but will be the "college crowd". No wonder when I asked my DD if she was going to start a teen board she looked at me and said, umm... NO!

Man.... when they first met, she was barely old enough to go the the teen club....

Okay... maybe this countdown should last, ummm... 15 more years, that way I can have more time at home with her

That is funny that you said that to your DD! My mom always said that regardless of how old I am, I will always be her baby.

Disney 06- As time gets close we should have the girls talk- maybe they could hang out a bit. My girls don't know about the cruise yet, hoping to keep it a secret as long as possible- maybe tell them at Christmas time 2010??? or maybe longer around birthday times- Feb and March 2011???

As time gets closer the kids should start a group!

Super excited!!! How did everyone book- online, via phone, TA anyone going to transfer for more of an OBC- we have never done that before, but the "free" money sounds great!

We booked disney air- hopefully can get a little cheaper as time gets closer- would like to explore for a few days before! So glad the girls will not be missing any school!

I had my TA book this cruise, she transferred an onboard booking we had made this past summer. We did get OBC from DCL and also from our TA.
Before you decide to transfer to a TA find out what their OBC would be if they booked your cruise to begin with and then find out what it would be if you transfer your existing ressie to them. Since DCL gives TA's a smaller commission for transferred bookings some TA's will give less OBC, some none at all, and some TA's won't accept a transferred ressie.

If you don't mind me asking how much did DCL charge you for airfare? Did you tell them you want to arrive ahead of time or would you possibly just go with what they would reserve for you?


I think when we are on our 3 day cruise in Jan. I will make another dummy booking so that I'll be able to transfer it to either the Dream for it's 2nd year of sailing or to the Fantasy for it's innauguaral year. I like the idea of the extra OBC from DCL.

This may sound corny, but can Ariel be put somewhere in the pic since she's in the atrium of the Wonder? Donald is cute and all, but he will have his own ship in 2011.

It was about 2800 for 4 round trip from Boston- planning on doing price shopping on my own, but who knows how much of a savings I can get??? I think as the time gets close you can do add ons for pre or post hotel stays or come up with your own plan??? It will be fun to have 2 years to plan.

We sailed in April- wish we booked a dummy date- kicking myself now!

Thanks for posting your airfare quote. I have no clue what we will do, either fly to Seattle, Bellingham or Vancouver. I guess we'll see which would have the best rates and flight times. We'll be flying from Philly so it will be long days of flying either direction. We'll definately book our own hotel up there with seeing what DCL is charging for their hotel choices in London next summer .

This past summer was the first I've done the dummy booking and wish we had done it for other cruises, but hindsight is 20-20.

Drat - I sent the wrong pic to starwood - I'll take care of the bluurness tomorrow.... and resend it to her...

What I did was add mirror images in the water of the polar bear and the ship, and added the northern lights behind the mountains, with the snow picking up some of the color.

I'm working with photoshop CS4, just upgraded from CS3, and I'm still trying to figure out where everything went!

If you have a cellphone plan with no roaming in the US - we should be able use our cellphones in Alaska.

And for anyone who uses the seasick patch - they are not prescription in Canada.

On the cell phone that would depend if your carrier has service in Alaska, some plans are for the lower 48 startes only.
