August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

Ed that count is just moving along.....slowly. :dance3:

Have a great time, we will be there Aug 8 -15th

We will be in Disney too the same time. The entire motley crew of 7. Can't wait, I have been to FL since the marathon weekend in January. And since it was soooo cold that weekend, it didn't feel like a real trip to Disney.

Who's crew are your calling "motley"?

WOO HOO, we've gone down to the next 10's!!!!!!

Was it exciting changing from a 6 to a 5?

Does anyone have any information on what excursions will be offered? Or has anyone done any research on non-DCL options?

There was just one picture too many of the changes in Castaway Cay and the new ship -- we decided to pull out of this trip and move it to a double dip on the new ship. Hope you all have a wonderful time. You can take us off the list (villagesbarbara and J&CsMom). We'll have to put Alaska back on to the ToDo List. Have fun!

We have scheduled one excursion - this has rave reviews on another cruise
forum that I read.

We are using Harv and Marv's Outback Alaska in Juneau for a whale watching excursion.

The cost is $149 per person. They ask for full payment 60 days prior to the tour date or by June 13, 2011. Payment can be made with check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover Card.

They will plan on meeting us at 9:00 am. As this is the Disney Wonder's first time in Juneau, they are going to follow up in the spring of 2011 when they have the docking schedule to determine the meeting place.

These people fill up fast and the price was very reasonable. You can search on Harv and Marv's Outback Alaska for more info on them if you are interested.

After the whale watch we are going to do the Mount Roberts Tramway. The Mount Roberts Tramway climbs from 27 to 2000 feet bringing you into a pristine alpine environment in just six minutes. At the top you will find trails, an observatory, nature center, restaurant, bar, theater and two gift shops. Adults are $27.00 and children are $13.50.

I'd love to do Mendenhall Glacier, I have found this:
JUNEAU'S BEST
$27 per person -- Duration: 2-1/2 hours -- 2 Passenger Minimum
Narrated bus tour of historical Juneau with experienced guides. Learn history, development, & colorful local lore! See downtown Juneau, Mendenhall Glacier, University of Alaska/Chapel by the Lake, protected wetlands, and other local sights. Enjoy 40-45 minutes exploring Mendenhall Glacier. (The USFS Visitor Center charges a $3 per person to enter and this fee is not included with the tour price).

We are also going to do the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan - yes, I'm sure its pretty cheesy, but I'm the one that wants to see it LOL!! The website says Tickets can be purchased through your chosen cruise line or from our online store. Buy your ticket to the action today! - We are going to wait to see if Disney is offering it and see what they cost is versus the cost to do that one on our own.

That's all I gotten done so far

We met many CM's on the Wonder last week that will be on our sailing. They are really excited about sailing out of the west coast. Many are on their last full Bahamian contract and when they come back they will be taking the Wonder to CA after a few 3/4 sailings.
We also learned there will be at least 1 new show on the Wonder next year. :yay:
