When would you go? It costs roughly the same price.

I've been in August before and it was my favorite trip (even tho I HATE the heat.)

We went in January, which was the worst trip ever (so we have to go back to make up for it). DH's mom died while we were there and it was a really rough trip for me (it did great things for DH though, which is what's important).

The thought of being at Disney before Christmas sounds super awesome, tho I am hesitant to travel so close to Christmas.

I'm not worried about crowds since I'm used to it being busy. The January trip felt busier than my two summer trips because of the EE opening.

So WWYD?

Well, I don't love the heat either and I've been down many times in August with the heat (when the kids were in school and summer was the only time I could take them). If you are looking at August, I would try to move the trip back a week (8/15 or so) to take advantage of the free dining they are offering from mid-aug to the end of Sept. You can still book that through 6/25.

However, having said that, my vote would be December. I just love Disney at Christmas. Every park is decorated and has it's own tree. DTD is decorated with some beautiful poinsetta's and a big christmas tree with giant size presents under it. And if you have the time, every resort is decorated and has a different style tree (appropriate to the resort theme) in their lobby. Plus you can get separate tickets to the MVMCP at MK which we all really enjoyed.

Course, either way - you're in Disney!!! :Pinkbounc

We always go in the summer since as a teacher that is the only time I can get away for a long trip, but I have been to WDW in early december twice and absolutely love it! My vote is for December.

I usually travel during the value times to WDW and last year I was at BWV Dec. 20-22. Yes, the parks were getting busier with each passing day, but I still did everything I wanted to. This year I will be going Dec. 16-24, staying at WDW thru the 22nd, then heading to my brother's on the west coast.

So my vote would be Dec. 16-23 - just get most of your park days in early in the trip, then spend the end relaxing at your resort or riding a few rides!!!

HTH!!! :teeth:

We had the best trip this past December 2-9. We've only ever gone in the summer heat, so low 70s was perfect weather! When I look back at our pictures - my children beside the beautifully decorated Christmas trees, the characters in their Christmas outfits, I just can't wait to go back during the Christmas season again.

I wish we could go whenever, but it looks like DH is going to get a teaching position (which is the reason we can go in the first place).

I think my heart is set on December, now I just have to worry about flying out on December 23...any experiences?

Well, it'll definitely be BUSY. I flew home from Tampa last year on a 6pm flight on Christmas eve - it was the only reasonably priced flight I could find (nothing out of MCO). This year I plan to do the same. Just jump on the flight/fare you want as soon as you see it!!!!

Oh well, it'll be worth it to be in WDW, besides we'll have the holidays to look forward to.

We love to go in Dec. All the decorations are up and the weather is so nice, actually cold sometimes. I love the Osborne lights and the "snow" at The Studios. Crowds probably won't be too bad.

We are going in October and doing MNSSHP, but if I had to choose between Aug. and Dec. I would choose Dec. I've always wanted to go to the Christmas Party and that should be available to your family during the dates you listed.

I'm pretty sure our next trip will be in December because I really want to take the kiddos to see the Christmas deco and party before they are too old to enjoy it...

Good luck in your planning!

We went 05 12-16/12-23...and it was great. It was our first trip and I was worried about everything. We did see crowds pick up towards the end but for the most part, great crowds, great weather (little chilly in the early day and late evening), Osborne Lights were fantastic, Candlelight Processional was really great and the Christmas Party was soooo much fun.

All in all...December gets my vote! Just too darn hot in August for me!

There's a time when your kids are "too old" to enjoy Disney?? :rotfl2:
My girls are 23 & 27 and they still aren't too old!! :) Heck, I'm not too old either!
Christmas is our favorite time for a WDW vacation. Love the decorations and Mickey's party.
