August 2024 WISH Thread…making the most of the last month of summer☀️🏖️🌊

I am thankful for DD. Today is her 17th birthday. So as much as we can the day will be about her. She is working this morning then has her 1 class and tonight she has band practice. She works at a barn and it is a very relaxed place. I texted her boss (the owner) to let her know the it is DD's birthday. I knew DD didn't tell anyone because she never does. Her boss replied that she she didn't know but said she's got me covered. She will do something fun, and crazy I am sure. Since January when she took over she wrapped DD's car in plastic wrap and another time wrote on the windows of the car. She is a great boss and will help to make DD feel loved today.

In other news, DD still is coughing a lot. Yesterday, I got a text from my mom that my SIL is being treated for pneumonia. She has had the same cough as DD for over a month now. She is now getting sick when she coughs. DD is at this point too. SIL had an x-ray done to confirm pneumonia but started treating anyways. DD has had 2 ER visits, 2 visits to the doctors, 2 rounds of antibiotics, 2 rounds of steroids, Flonase and Zyrtec and nothing has helped. She has also used her inhaler, cough meds and cough drops and it hasn't helped. We see her pulmonologist next week. Both of them got this cough from my nephew. My sister brought him to vacation (we all stayed int he same house) sick with this cough. I am so pissed. I want to say something to my sister but it wouldn't do anything but cause problems. So I am just sitting with my feelings and trying to bite my tongue. I really hope we can get some answers next week.
Happy Birthday to DD... hope she feels better soon.

Today I'm thankful that while moving is not of my choosing, what I've learned about myself helps me to know what I need to look for in a new home/community and that the best option is such a nice one. And I'm thankful that my company has made a significant improvement in change-management, it makes such a difference.

I'm thankful that the class reunion is finally this weekend... partly to just get it over with and partly to connect with a few people I remember from school and hear about their lives.

There's quite a thick covering of grey out there this morning, its called a "marine layer" and is throwing a distinctly autumnal vibe... and I'm here for it. Orange season is coming at us and I'm thankful because it is my favorite time of year.

Thankful for over the counter meds and kids with decent immune systems. Almost a week post vaca and the stuffy noses are here! Everyone is sneezing but no one is miserable and mopey, I’ll take it.
Thankful I randomly purchased nail wraps and they are covering the hack job I did trying to remove the gel polish.
Thankful for summer vacations. We booked a bounce back wdw vaca for next summer…may change the hotel if our tax return isn’t great…but very grateful I am able to give my kids these experiences.
Thankful for the jr high mom squad…we were comparing teacher assignments this morning and looks like DS 12 may have a couple classes with his friends this year.

Woohoo... the decision is made and today I start working on the 12-month plan. The options felt small and restrictive until I got to working thru moving and returning to the office, then things started to feel light and expansive. Being in the office yesterday really helped, as it reminded me about how good it feels to work with real live people.

I've been perusing rentals and to live where I want to at the price-point I want, I'm going to be downsizing into a one-bedroom apartment/condo... so let the purging commence. It is going to be a total change in lifestyle, in so many ways.

One thing that keeps coming up for me is that the last time I went to the Bainbridge yarn store, which is located in the area where I want to live, I looked up the street and thought "I'd really enjoy living here"... I guess someone heard me.

My soon-to-be new neighborhood.

Good morning everyone and Happy Thankful Thursday!!

Thankful today for this beautiful weather we have been having all week!!

Thankful that our daughter in law has her weekly appointment today and they will be establishing a plan in the event that she does not deliver by her due date next week! I know they are more than ready to welcome baby girl!!

I hope everyone has a great day!!!

So exciting about the baby being so close!

Happy birthday to your DD! I wish she could get feeling better!

Thankful today for the beautiful weather we had. Today was our monthly board meeting at work. We had a morning meeting and left the office after the meeting to tour a fertilizer facility and chemical production plant (we are an agricultural company). After the two morning tours, we got to go to a baseball game in a sweet from one of our suppliers. It was a perfect day to watch the game and our team won - win / win!

Today is the day. It is my first last game to watch one of my kids in the marching band. I am already starting to tear up writing this. I think things will hit me more this year then last year with DS. This will be a year of the last of the lasts for high school. I am very excited to watch them tonight. DD has really been practicing.

Yesterday, DD's boss got her doughnuts and and cupcakes and brought them to the barn. They were doing camp so her boss had everyone sing happy birthday to her. I knew her boss would make the day special since I wasn't going to see her. Her teacher asked everyone in class what their birthdays where so she could put them up on the birthday wall. DD just said that date hoping her teacher wouldn't pick up on the date. She didn't but we both suspect that she will say something today. Since DD doesn't have class until 12:30 and her friend is only taking college classes (they start next week), we let DD have a sleep over. So we tried to make what we could special. We will take her to dinner on Sunday and celebrate again.

Hello Friday, you lovely half-day you.

I'm signing off from work at 2p to head up to the flower farm to get flowers for the reunion and depending on what is in bloom may also have to make a run to Trader Joe's which is 45+ minutes away. Then I'll spend the evening making the flower arrangements. Another gal has the mason jars for vases, so I need to get everything put together and wrapped up so we can just plunk them in.

The reunion is at a restaurant attached to a large shopping center, so I'm heading out early enough to do some shopping before set-up. I'll be staying overnight at a hotel close by then will head home fairly early Sunday morning so I can wander around Bainbridge, including shopping at the fancy grocery store in town. It's another location of the grocery store I currently have to drive 45 minutes to get to, so it will be so nice to have it so close by.

Happy Friday everyone!!! What are everyone’s plans for the weekend?!?

@Oneanne and @piglet1979 sound like you have some exciting things planned!!!

After a less than encouraging weekly doctors appointment yesterday for my daughter in law we decided to walk this morning to try and get her closer to labor…we also we out to breakfast which was so so lovely. No baby and no changes yet but this will most likely be our last one on one time together for a while because she’s scheduled for a induction Thursday!

I took one of our dogs for vaccines and a yearly check up-all was well! She’s exhausted:

Tomorrow DH and I walk dogs and then have a family birthday to attend in the afternoon!

Sunday we will go to first service church and I teach Sunday school 2nd service!!!

Weather is warming up again here too!!!

I hope everyone enjoys their Friday!!!!

Not too many plans this weekend - DH has been at a work meeting since Tuesday, so it will be nice having him back home. We are planning to go see the Forge - hopefully it will be pretty good. We also have a celebration of life for DH's cousin who passed away a few months ago. He lived half way across the country from us, so they are just now having a local get together for him (and his siblings). It will be nice to see everyone, although not under the best circumstances.

I am thankful that I survived the first professional development day…a day that I thought would never end. The morning workshop was led by our new director of literacy…a horrible, rude, demeaning, harsh, condescending narcissist who treated us like garbage. It took everything inside me not to cry or say something that would get me in trouble. My headache is back. Thank God I am getting acupuncture in the morning. My union is already involved after dozens of teachers complained.

I have a boatload of work to do this weekend, then Monday and Tuesday we continue professional development. Kindergarten orientation is Wednesday. I am trying to focus on that.

I’m hoping Karma puts that evil woman in her place.

Ohhhhh no I am so so sorry!!! Hopefully this gets resolved-you all have so much going on as teachers you don’t need this as well!!!

I got 5 right on the quiz…it didn’t tally up my score…hmmmmmm-maybe I picked a bad quiz?!? Let me know if anyone else gets their numbers at the end!

My day started off well I got up and got my Bible reading and journaling done and did a really challenging yoga video…was getting dressed for the SPCA and got a text asking if I was aware hours changed today due to a event and where was I….😩 I stood up my walking partner and she had to do all the walking herself because I missed the email about the change in hours!!!!! Ughhhhhhh I hate leaving people down!!

The communication from the SPCA has become overwhelming and difficult to keep up with. They moved to a new system which is supposed to help this and streamline everything but honestly I have not had the time to sit and play with it to know how it operates. I told DH between our family responsibilities, working full time, church volunteering, fostering dogs and SPCA walking I cannot handle a complicated system and 1-3 daily emails about things from the SPCA. If I cannot find a system that works for the new volunteer data base then we are going to consider taking a dog walking break.

Ugh. Thanks for listening everyone I am just kicking myself and feeling irresponsible!!!

But we are having a bday party this afternoon at my sisters for my brother in law so that will cheer me up for sure 🥰

I’m feeling better today. In addition to our teachers union mobilizing, there’s also a grassroots movement, so I am supported.

I bursted into tears during acupuncture which also helped me tremendously.

It will be okay…

@PAsFab5 - don't be too hard on yourself. You do so many good things for so many people!
Agreed!

My score is directly related to the fact that I have only seen the girl Disney animated movies. “Big Hero” and “Wreck it Ralph” always come up in quizzes, and I know nothing about them. It’s also been many years since I’ve seen an animated movie, so I missed “Encanto.”

However my soon to be 27 year old is excited about the new Stitch movie coming out!
