August 2024 WISH Thread…making the most of the last month of summer☀️🏖️🌊

Hellloo!!! Happy Monday!

My sweet granddaughter was born this morning at 3:37am weighing 7lbs and 1oz and 19 7/8 inches long. Her birth was perfect and watching her be born was a miracle I will never forget, but watching my son and his wife watch her be born was truly the greatest gift I have even been given.

I don’t know if they plan on posting her photo on social media so I wont post anything here, but she has a full head of dark hair, perfect skin and is absolutely beautiful.

Also, they named her after me. I had no idea. What a honor, I cannot put it into words.

Motivation this week it’s to stay healthy to enjoy my grandchildren-present and future. What a joy.
Congratulations!!!!!!
What small wonders keep you company during the small hours aka the early morning hours just before sunrise?
Sleep. I do not like to wake before the sun. I am never the first up and usually the last one up.

I can lay in bed and see out the window, and this bedroom faces east so I get to see the sky light up in the mornings... that and feeling kitties curled up around me feet is a lovely way to start the day.

We had a storm last night, so I didn't think I'd be getting out for the promised morning walk this morning, but when I opened my eyes it was pretty calm, so I did it, and by the time I got down to the beach the skies were clear.

Spending so much time at the beach I've really gotten to know it and am always amazed at how much it changes... this sand formation is totally different than anything I've seen the past year and a half.

@piglet1979 - great pics of your kids! Such an exciting time for them!

Your quote reminds me of another song that I love - Dream Small by Josh Wilson

It's not about not having big dreams, just about realizing that you shouldn't discount the smaller things in life. It's the moments that happen that really matter and being in them at the time.

Woohoo... yesterday we heard that we'll get bonuses for the first half of the year at 100% pay-out. I had been on the earnings call and really wasn't sure, so it was a nice surprise.

Woohoo... the tech people in the Seattle office are going to the baseball game this afternoon, so I'm thinking I might take the afternoon off as well. And woohoo... I knew Labor Day was coming, but just realized it is Monday, so happy long weekend to me.

Tuesday Topic…When I am alone in the mornings the same things tend to run through my head…how our life was vs how it is now and that leads me into my morning walking/prayer.

I will never forget where DH and I started and when I am alone in the mornings those memories become very clear but our gifts from God are even more clear!

Whooohoooo Wednesday- DS1 and his family are home and doing so well. Even though they said I could come whenever I wanted I am trying to give them time to settle in and wait until Friday to visit…DD and her boyfriend are visiting today so I am sending food with them. I will take more food Friday 😁

Doesn't reflecting on our life journeys bring on such big thoughts. With the reunion it has been much on my mind, along with thinking I wish there was some way to have had the sense of the journey to come when I was younger.

I think I would have been too scared if I knew everything!

My WooHoo today is a nice outing with DS. He had a rather out of the way errand to do, so I rode along and we explored a new (to us) shopping center. We saw a movie, had lunch, and found the perfect birthday present for an upcoming party!

Sounds like a great day!

My WooHoo today is I think I have finally found my "thing" to take to dinners at church. Now that I'm in my 50's I have my set thing to take to funeral dinners and the like. I always stress about what to take to them and last time, one of the ladies asked if I could take a baked spaghetti dish or something similar. I took that and the kitchen ladies said it worked well. I was always a little nervous because I can't warm anything up since I'm at work.

Anyway, I took that again today and I loved not having to worry about it or try to make a last minute decision!

I am going to woohoo that the pulmonologist is putting plan together for DD. This cough has been going on long enough. No answers to why and more doctor appointments but there is something. She will see immunology (it was already scheduled for early September because of her low IgA), ENT (got in for Friday. Not ideal place or time but it was that or wait a month) and Rheumatologist (Waiting to hear back to schedule as nothing was open). They were also talking about doing a next x-ray and a neck and chest CT but are going to wait for the other doctors as well. So even know we don't know anything yet, I am hopefully we might finally get to the bottom of this.

I am grateful that my little garden is happily producing and I'm hopeful that I'll get to see blooms from the plants that haven't popped yet, before I go on vacation.

I am grateful for the holiday weekend; I have been dragging all week and the extra day off is really appreciated. And I'm thankful that nice weather is predicted, because Sunday I'm going out on the whale watching boat one last time and the weather forecast is perfect for that.

It is a long weekend full of stuff and to add to it I have picked up a cold. Lots of coughing and some congestion too. I feel good though. Tonight is senior night for the band so I can't miss that. Then we are going to Oktoberfest (I might send DH without me as I don't drink and could use the time to rest and get ride of this cold) and seeing the orchestra (this I will do as it is outside and you are not sitting close to people).

Thank you Friday, for showing up again.

The long weekend starts a bit early as I'm signing off at 3p to get my hair cut... I'm going super short, so it'll be easy for my trip. Saturday early I'm going to a farm in Bainbridge that has u-pick dahlias and is also selling field fresh corn. Sunday first half of the day is whale watching.

And Monday there's a low tide mid-morning, so I'm going to do the 1 1/2 mile walk to Glass Beach to look for sea glass... you need a low tide to get around the point. It is something that is on my Port Townsend bucket list and I'm determined not to move with a bunch of things on my "oh, I didn't do that while I was there" list.

Happy weekend all!
