We've been cruising vicariously this past week. Linda's Dad and his wife just returned home from a Carnival Caribbean cruise that left out of NYC. It wasn't Disney, but we were still a little jealous!

Here's a nice shot of them returning to port that I just captured from the Empire State Building webcam. You can see the Intrepid with the Concord on it and a tall ship next to their dock.:

Paul....were they on the Carnival Legend??? I hope they liked it. We are cruising with a group of 50 on the Legend out of NYC on June 30th....please post if they liked or disliked....after being on DCL 13 times my kids are anxious to see what other cruise lines are like!!! I will not compare to DCL because I know they are two totally different experiences. I have sailed on Carnival before but not my kids..

Barbara and Donna - you have NO idea how jealous I am of you two today!! ;)

I had Good Morning America on today just to see DL in the dark! :rotfl: I'll watch the whole show from tape when I get home tonight.

What wonderful memories you'll have of being part of these opening festivities! Can't wait to get there in August to experience some of it for ourselves.

I hope you and your families have a terrific day/weekend at DL! Full reports, please!!!!!!!!

Arlene

Barbara - I need to send you a PM today!

Looking at the new DCL site.. Like Jason mentioned earlier it IS great...
Just a suggestion to those of you that are looking at using it....
Register now.
You are going to need your Castaway Club number... If you're like me you don't have it or remember it. 1-800-449-3380 and they'll give it to you. This bumps you up to being able to book 90 days in advance as opposed to 75 days for first time cruisers. For those in Concierge its 105 days out.
You're also going to need your DCL confirmation number. I called All Seasons this morning already, talked with Sandie (She is a great lady to deal with!!) got all of our groups DCL confirmation numbers, and then I registered on the DCL site. I can view my ressie now, even though I'm with a TA which is a huge improvement.
Figure if I do this now I won't have to fumble around looking for this info at the 90 day mark.

Cheers,
Grumbo :)

I was already signed up from original DCL website but after looking at my profile they had none of my correct info and did not have my CC number listed so I edited and updated to correct it.

I was at the site for over an hour...I really like the format and being able to look at my ressie and put things on my wish list. Also love the fact that they show the current weater for all ports!!! The ony thing I think they should have added to the site that would have been neat would be a current listing of movies onboard. Rest of the site is really nice!

If you have not done so yet folks...check it out!!!

MJ,
Yes, they sailed on the Legend. I'll let you know what they thought of Carnival.

This was their first cruise on any cruise line, so they won't have anything to compare to...well, except what Linda and I have been telling them about Disney. (We've been trying to get them to come on a Disney cruise with us.)

Paul

Can you believe that is was exactly one year today that most of us booked this cruise? Boy, little did we know all the friends and plans we would make when we decided to do this cruise. This is definitely going to be the cruise of a lifetime, and I can't wait!

Wow! That's true and I didn't even think about it!

I was on the Disney Magic and had just returned from St. Thomas when the captain came on the PA system and announced the news.

It was actually pretty neat as they had done up door-hangers advertising the Westcoast cruises. They had advertisements in the elevators too.

Anyway, we went down to see Donna and booked about an hour after the announcements were made. Can't believe it's been a whole year!

Wow so is this the one year that we've been waiting for that elusive TRIP REPORT!!!!!! :rotfl2:
You're right it doesn't seem that long. This must be one heck of a trip report if its taking this long!!!!!!!

Cheers,
Grumbo ;)

I agree, Renee. When this was booked ONE YEAR AGO I had no idea of what to expect from the DISBoards or our Cruise Meets thread. Nearly 16,000 posts later, we have shared our excitement and anticipation for this cruise, vacation plans, information about ourselves, both highlights and sad moments affecting us, and become an extended "family" and support network for each other.

Instead of just being passengers on this adventure with our immediate family and groups, we're now sailing with many friends who we just haven't met in person yet!

Thank you for an exciting year of wonderful opportunities getting to "know" all of you. I'm thrilled to be sharing this "Cruise of a Lifetime" with so many very special people.

Arlene

It doesn't seem that long ago .... when we booked this adventure :earsboy:

Can't wait until we do get to *meet* in person..... should be a blast.

I checked my ressie on the new cruise site -- still a GTY.. :confused3
At least now I can check myself - instead of calling my TA.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new DCL website! I went to Dreams Unlimited to get my DCL confirmation number. I put in the number and my birth date and there was our reservation! :cheer2: I put into my favorites 2 excursions and I can book these after we get back from WDW! :wizard: We did a REAS package and will be booking Palo's, Spa, etc. I can't wait! Really cool sight!

It took me about 8 phone calls to the castaway club line to get my address sorted out and my number (kept getting disconnected and it took them two tries) but I agree that the new website is GREAT. Is anyone going to be booking stuff in advance at 90 days? Do we have any clue what the schedule for dining will be to help plan for Palo? I don't know what the heck I would do if I didn't have to stand in line when I first board, maybe just enjoy the ship!

Wow!!! That musta been one heck of a flying job by the Concorde pilot to land that big plane on that carrier!! I woulda loved to see that! The takeoff from the deck will be even more impressive!!! Jazzman, could you have done that in your heyday!

Actually Izzi that took a heck of a lot of practicing on Jazz's part...
Here are some of his not so successful landings, prior to the Concorde one...

Actually this is how he and Denise met... Denise was the air traffic controller that gave him the WRONG directions. Of course it was a match made in heaven and the rest is history :)

For those doing the Rafting in Acapulco..........
Perdita had pointed out a discrepancy in the times of departing and the time the excursion got underway. I just spoke with the tour operator in Mexico on the phone and she advises that it is 0830 hours and 1330 hours pick up at the dock. The trip is 45 minutes to an hour to the river and then they will hand out vests, last will and testament etc. ;)
Just as a tid bit she said the folks from Disney were down last week trying to book more rafting excursions for August as they anticipate they won't have enough :)
Looks like the Fools beat them to it :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I have been so absent from this thread.....when I rarely have time to come back, it is so overwelming that I leave!!! I hope I'm able to pick up what I've missed. Anyway.....
1) For those of you with boys who are putting together baskets, etc. for the cruise, DisneyDeals.com has some "Pirate Bag of Marbles". Originally $8 each, now $2.50 each (sold in a set of 4). I also got some cute Pinwheel headbands for $1 each.
2) Now that we can pre-book (YEAH....I just found this out) I need to hear ideas of times for PALOS for SINGLES..... 1 brunch and 1 dinner.....will write more later....got to run...

You already gave us this information!

Grumbo, are you having a senior moment???

This was in the original e-mail from Annie as you posted in in BD's forum.

Hello fellow fools. ust back from the nail shop, my toesande fingers are now sporting "Hey Vito, is my car reddy?" polish. I wish I coulde get a job as a nail polish colour namer! I have to get used to my fingernails again, I haven't had them this long in over a year!

It is hard to believe that we were all booking one year ago. Time flies when you are having fun. I too echo the sentiment that we are friends who have not yet met in person. Between the pictures on the Fab site and now SKYPE, we are getting to know each other even better.

I hope someone tells Johnny Depp that he MUST be on the canal cruise in August. No excuses, there are too many fan who don't want to be dissapointed. Pirate garb is desired, but not necessary.

Jennifer Weiss - no woories on keeping up. Pop in when you can and read the newsletter for all the important info!

Off to do more fishing trip research. DH wants to go deep sea fishing this weekend with his son, I don't know if he is going to be able to pull it off or not. One thing is for sure, there is a cabana and a lounge chair waiting for me on the gulf shore in Clearwater Beach.

Later, dudes!

Actually it wasn't :)
It initially said 0830 and the trip left at 1000 hours and the second left at 1330 hours and the trip left at 1400 hours, when it actually leaves at around 0930 hours for the morning one and 1430 or so in the afternoon. Nancy had asked for clarification.
I wasn't aware that Disney had been down there either, and know I hadn't put that information anywhere.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Which just shows you, don't go rafting, stay onboad and keep me company!

So, are you and our SOF Clearwater residents gonna meet-up while you are down there?
