The glass DCL hurricane glasses are very nice. And, they're not all that expensive, either. Something like $8 or so. I only have one but hope to have a complete set by the time we reach the end of the Bringing the Magic Home cruise! :goodvibes

Oh, and just an FYI, the "Thriller" that they serve on 80's night in those glasses is pretty damn good! :)

The new DCL website is up and running. Looks like we will be able to make Palo, Vista Spa, and excursion bookings online.

I am so happy things went so well for your mom Tracy! We will continue to pray for a speedy and good recovery for you mom. God bless! :grouphug:

You are very welcome kmiles & T and Tracy & B! These were just little surprises to say THANK YOU for all you've done as we've taken this SOF journey. You've made this very special. Thank you very much from our family to yours!

OK girlfriends Arlene and Renee' you reminded me not to stereotype kids! They are all different! I always say to the parents of my students that they know their children the very best and what is best for them too. I sure do know that you both are great moms! Many of my students though, come to school yawning all throughout the day. When I ask them what time they go to bed, they do not even know just that it was late! And many even eat dinner in front of the TV on a daily basis while their parents dine watching TV in their rooms! (OK, so someone will probably tell me that they do this too with their family on a regular basis... so I had just better plead the 5th... :rotfl2: ) LOST is on now, so good night!

Thank you for posting the great photo's. My son had won 2 tickets to go to Disneyland today 5/4/05 and he took his Mom (me). I was so busy talking with someone from DVC, their first time in California I missed most of the parade. I did see the unveiling of the Opera house new marque (sp) with Steve Martin. I missed Buzz opening with Tim Allen as I was making cookies with the kids. Toll House Cookies - for the kids to make from scratch - but they are trying to keep it for ages 5-10 only. They let us YOUNGER people do it on this special day. Of course, you don't really eat what you mix & put on the cookies sheets. The best part about today was NO LINES.
A Fun Day.

Guess we have some Star Trek fans onboard :cool1:

Now we just need Scotty to fix the Magic's engines so we can go faster and get more ports in :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

(diehard, here)
Scotty, I need light speed now! ...You know he could have trouble, though, because he's the chief engineer on the Enterprise, not the Magic....

I've been reading mouseplanet and one Disney cm said they saw Johnny Depp today! Janet, I will drool for you if we see him this weekend. :goodvibes I wonder if we will see any celebs? (I'd love to see Pierce Brosnan again - starry eyes... :) Other than that, I'm not really a celeb admiring girl, but it would be interesting...) Brian took the day off on Friday for our big adventure. We will go together in the a.m. to DL as Marissa and her best friend have state testing in the a.m. We'll pick them up at lunch. Hopefully, we'll be checked in to our room at the DL Hotel before we get the girls. We've been lucky for this in the past. I'm getting so excited, wish you were all here with us. Donna, maybe we'll see you guys! :cool1:  :cool1: I'll be sure to report back! I cannot even imagine how exciting it will be when it gets to the cruise...better than any Christmas or birthday ever!!! Last I checked there is a 50% chance of rain tomorrow (I hope to get in for a few hours by myself tomorrow at DL, Brian has too many meetings and can't get the day off.) Friday and Saturday there is a 20% chance of rain, but often it blows away. C'mon daylight!!! Sorry for the jibberish, but this tis' exciting!

And hmmm.... $30.00 desserts with souvenir plate at DL...

"If you're seriously considering one of the $30 desserts (at least one staff member here is, the fool) you might want to know that your dessert options are: a Mickey truffle filled with a raspberry chocolate, a banana split, warm chocolate sundae, or apple pie with caramel sauce."

Check out the new cookie making at Plaza Pavillion too!

"Another unannounced opening this week is the Nestle Junior Chef program at Plaza Pavilion. In this program, which is held five times a day for of up to 20 children ages 4 through 10, the kids do all the work to mix cookie dough.

The ingredients are stored in canisters that pay homage to Main Street stores. Examples are "Candy Palace" vanilla and "Gibson Girl" sugar. Once the dough has been mixed the cookies "bake" for 3 minutes in one of Mickey's magic ovens. Each child then gets to take a cookie home with them after the show.

Between shows, kids get to decorate and color chef hats and coloring sheets."

Donna, what do you think of the golden Mickey ears btw? I'm not a big fan yet, but I think they will grow on me.

Nite all, I'd best get to sleep, morning will be here soon enough. See you when we return!

Hi Everyone!!

Things are slowly going back to normal. I have not read the Dis yet but read the Pm from Grumbo and Barbara. Thanks!! ;)

I think my MIL death has finallly hit Bob this morning. He is finally pacing very slowly. After all, he has been running the last few weeks like the Energizer Bunny helping his Dad.
My FIL will be OK. Our last family dinner together on Tues night, he was laughing and all. He already cleaning up his house, even mentioned to Bob about having a Will drawn up for himself. I am so glad that he is not going to be a Hermit in his own house. He also mentioned about going on some family vacations too that he would love to go. (although we didn;'t mention about him going on the cruise with us yet, but we have yet to look into it. ) It will be kinda neat that you might get to meet him after all. ;) Since i told him all about you guys.

Again, i want to thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers and gifts and cards. Tracy, i will get in touch with you soon since Bob wants some more info from you.
Hope everything is going well here for all of you. I will catch up on the reading here and 'other' site as well, sometimes, hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

Have to tell you, This is some kind of a family here!!! I am just so amazed!!{{{HUGS}}}} :grouphug:

Melinda,
Nice to see you posting again and hear that things are slowly getting back to normal for you. We hope that the healing continues for you and your family.

Continued thoughts and pixie dust for you.

Looking at the new DCL site.. Like Jason mentioned earlier it IS great...
Just a suggestion to those of you that are looking at using it....
Register now.
You are going to need your Castaway Club number... If you're like me you don't have it or remember it. 1-800-449-3380 and they'll give it to you. This bumps you up to being able to book 90 days in advance as opposed to 75 days for first time cruisers. For those in Concierge its 105 days out.
You're also going to need your DCL confirmation number. I called All Seasons this morning already, talked with Sandie (She is a great lady to deal with!!) got all of our groups DCL confirmation numbers, and then I registered on the DCL site. I can view my ressie now, even though I'm with a TA which is a huge improvement.
Figure if I do this now I won't have to fumble around looking for this info at the 90 day mark.

Cheers,
Grumbo :)

We've been cruising vicariously this past week. Linda's Dad and his wife just returned home from a Carnival Caribbean cruise that left out of NYC. It wasn't Disney, but we were still a little jealous!

Here's a nice shot of them returning to port that I just captured from the Empire State Building webcam. You can see the Intrepid with the Concord on it and a tall ship next to their dock.:

Hi Melinda  Happy to see you posting again. Life will slowly settle into a "new" normal for all of you. My FIL, who had always been pampered by my MIL, began life alone at the age of 80. After a slow start where we rallied around and helped him settle in, he has become TOTALLY independent - still in his own house (shovelling snow, cutting grass) cleaning and cooking for himself. He comes over and sometimes sits in the kitchen reading my cookbooks and offering "suggestions" he's learned from watching Cooking Shows. :rotfl2: He's also created a full-time job for himself, taping shows from NHK (Japanese TV) and copying the tapes to send to other family members. :rotfl: I need to buy packages of tapes for him every time I go to Costco!

By the way, we'll be celebrating his 89th birthday next month!

Here's hoping your FIL also finds the strength to continue life on his own with the continuing support of his dear family like you and Bob.

Arlene

Tracy - thanks SO much for the good news update on you Mom! :cheer2:

Sounds like she's going to do well - she's lucky to have you and your sister there to support her.

21 Days to Disneyland!!!!!!!
