Quiet day on the boards so far today!!!

I agree. Why is it everyone posts a lot when I'm at work and can't really read them, but when I'm home, there's nothing to read? :confused3

There were only Dan and Melinda posting yesterday Renee. Just looked like alot ;)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Just a quick note on a possible Scav. Hunt. I am not sure if you are all aware, but the Common Grounds Teenager's CLub ran a scavenger hunt on some of the 4 day cruises. the kids were put into several teams and given a video camera so that they could hunt for the clues and then film the findings. This saves actually bringing items back to the adjudicator. (We are used to treasure hunts, where you have to bring items back, like a milk bottle, a pair of green knickers, etc.)

Could this be an idea for the organisers? Instead of a video camera, we could take shots with a digital camera as it seems everyone has one of those! (Personally, I don't, but Big Cheeser has several!)

Marsha - I just wanted you to know that I waved to you when we drove by on I-89 last night going 30 mph. :moped:

Sounds like a neat idea. Perhaps we could do a combination of the two. We bring back pictures of some things and actual items for others.

Well, I missed it! Actually, you should wave at 3 or 3A, we are below and east of Concord and above and east of Manchester. MAybe nextime I'll pay more attention.

The BIG THAW is upon us, all the icicles are dropping off the eaves LOUDLY, and the lake at the end of the driveway is now draining into the area it belongs in, thanks to some extra plowing. Drainage in my community still needs some major overhauling! I am really really really really hoping that the last of the snow has been here and now all we have to have is chilly winter days and nights for a couple of more months. Spring is very late getting here!

I think a scavenger hunt could be fun. Especially if we have to bring back green knickers!

:cat:

Okay now we all have to pack a pair of green knickers. :rotfl2:

Jazz could you remove the child on our listing on the first page of this tome?
It is just Phil and I. No kids. Thanks. :)

I'm afraid that we will still have snow before spring pops up. Just know we aren't done yet. Wish we were. Please, please, please :worship:

We were actually on our way back from Manchester, so maybe we did drive by you. :moped: We were going pretty slow, so I'm kind of surprised you missed us. :rotfl2: It was fun getting back on I89 after getting off to get gas in Bow last night. We were driving on the rumble strip headed to the right towards the guard rail on the way back on. We thought we were on the on ramp, but I guess we weren't  . Luckily we didn't hit anything. To tell you how bad the roads were last night, it took us about an hour to get to Bow from the Center of NH parking garage.

We're in the Big Thaw, but I don't think it will all melt today, and I think it's supposed to get colder for the next couple of days. Oh well, hopefully it will just be cold and we won't get anymore snow (like you said). A woman on another board I read was saying that her tulips are up a couple inches (she lives in Southern NH somewhere. Mine are still under about 6-12 inches of snow, so I don't think mine are coming up yet. :flower: It does seem like spring is slow getting here.

The drainage here is hit or miss. They just redid the street I live on last year, and they put in underdrains on the side of the road (across the street from my house) and took out the ditch. The problem is, the street is at the bottom of a big hill and all the water drains off it when the snow melts and without the ditch it just spills out into the road because the ground is frozen so the underdrains don't work. What stupid engineer designed this?? Oh, sorry, it was the company I work for. :rolleyes1 On the main road (route 4) through town, there's sometimes 6 inches + of water on the sides because the drains can't keep up. At least the city is finally working on seperating the sewer and drainage systems in the older areas (currently the sewer was hooked into the drainage system and drains into the 'Scoma River - up stream from my house). It's only taking them about 3 times as long as it's supposed to (isn't that typical for a city/state project?).

I'm not all that impressed with the way they're cleaning the roads this year (or should I say not cleaning them) around here. They're awful in the mornings and stuff, but if we cross the river into VT, they're perfectly clear.

I think there's still snow coming too. The Farmer's Almanac said it was supposed to be a snow year, and so far it's not bad. I'm thinking it will all hit us in March and April. I hope not, but that's what it looks like to me.

Hey Estelle you build this cruise up to the poor child, and now you decide to cut them off and tell them NO cruise. How cold!! How heartless!!

I bet the poor wee mite is shattered over this.

Personally, I love the idea of having folks use digital cameras -- it will make it soooooo much easier on those of us running the hunt. :goodvibes

Now, when DD did the scav hunt on the Wonder last November they did it the "old fashioned way" (not given video cameras). At one point they showed up in our cabin looking for a piece of fruit (one of the items on their hunt list). I guess the teen club does it differently from time to time........

re: Scavenger Hunt -- great idea.....

Remember how so many of you were worried that we had too many days at sea and not enough ports or things to do? Well, if you all keep thinking of things to do, we won't have to worry about downtimes on sea days -- there won't be any :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: We'll have to have our own daily Navigator just to keep up with OUR onboard activities LOL. :p

I'm bringing a laptop - but not a printer (or reams of paper) - so I won't be volunteering to print the DIS navigator!!

BTW, I want to set up a picture opportunity .... how many of y'all are bringing the 6th Harry Potter book onboard for reading???

What's that Susan? You're volunteering to bring the printer and paper to print out DIS navigators? :rotfl2:

Ooooohhhh!! I forgot about HP 6 coming out soon! I still have to pre-order it! Thanks for reminding me! But, I doubt I'll be bringing it with me. If it's as big as the last one, I'd need a suitcase just for the book.

Yep I am .. Have it on order and will NOT read it until onboard. Well I hope I won't but will be tempted :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I think I need to change my avatar. Everytime I see a post by Susan I think "when did I post that??" :confused3

I can do the last newsletter like a weekly Navigator for everyone to bring onboard with them! That way we'll have dates and times of all events, a list of cruisers and cabins and special events for the sailing. No need for a printer or paper! I'll bring a few copies with me (may make you get a copy yourself if I get close to running out).

Tracy

The finalized dates, times, and locations for all events will also be available online for those who will have the Internet Package onboard.

Not that ANY of us are going to be online when we're on the ship, right? :)

Great idea Tracy!!! I printed the Valentine Issue, I need to go back and print number one. If I print them all and bring them with me, I will have plenty of material to read on the flights!

Renee

we got our nametags on Saturday. They are great. We put them on our EPCOT clips. We are just about ready to go.
