I think the gals over at Waterworks need to go back to basics - like understanding what makes up the different blocks of the food pyramid. I know the FDA wants to revise it, but not to the extreme the WWGals have done. Here is their plan for protein intake:

"Protein Intake

Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day. I personally try for:

1. one fruit at breakfast
2. one fruit, one vegetable at lunch
3. one fruit, one to two veggies at dinner." :sad2:

Has anyone heard anything about the Christmas cruise? Were there any special shows or dinners or anything? Paul, didn't you go on this cruise?
Maybe you could have Pam write us a small report.

Hi Denine, I just finished reading some lovely detailed trip reports from the 10-day Christmas Cruise and actually made a few notes  while I was doing it (just in case I found any great ideas we could “borrow”).

Their cruise had two formal and a semi-formal night, although they had only been expecting one of each. They also had both Pirates Night AND Tropicali… Night. As additional entertainment, they had the group “Rhythm Extreme” onboard, who gave both an evening performance and an afternoon “workshop” demo on one of their sea days. Christy Carlson Romano (who appears on Disney Channel’s “Even Stevens”, the voice of “Kim Possible” and had a run on Broadway as “Belle”) also gave a Concert one night. I read that she was very good ~ it must have been a real thrill for her many young fans. She also went to the Pyjama Party for the 8-12 year old girls in the Lab to answer questions for them AND did a general Q&A/Autograph session later in the cruise.

Aside from the usual DIS-Meets and arranging to go on excursions together, they also organized “Morning Walks” for the Sea-Days. I’m going to post this on our Sisterhood thread, but there may be general interest as well. Walking groups met outside the Walt Disney Theatre at 7:30 am and 8:30 am on the sea days and covered about 2 miles on Deck 4 in just over 30 minutes. It was casual, and different people seemed to be there on different days and times, but what a great way to get some early morning fitness into our days! (Especially on the sea days, where we’ll all be onboard and probably not be missing any meals!)

I hope this helps; hopefully we’ll hear from Paul soon with his “first-hand” impressions!

Thanks for posting that information Arlene. I love the idea of a morning walk too.

That's mean, Bob!!! The heading for fruits and Veggies got mis-labeled, and the valuable info on protein is listed below! :flower1: WE understood what she meant AND what we have to do!

BTW - What IS your interest in a thread labelled "SISTERHOOD"

Hey, at least we are trying! If you read further on the post, you will not the protein is addressed. We'll all be jogging up the stairs to Topsiders while you men will be huffing and puffing waiting for the elevators! Just you wait! The only reason you men are lurking is that you want to pick up some useful tips yourself.

True; but we don't have to request "No Sales Pitch, Please!" from our group! :D

Arlene

What? You mean the Sisterhood isn't going to market their own line of products? :earboy2:

Please call soon...operators are standing by!

We're staying in Anaheim for the week before the cruise, flying into LAX. We want to get a car rental that we can pick up at the airport and drop off as close to the cruise terminal at the port as possible.

We've looked at the Alamo and Budget websites, but it's a little bit confusing when you don't know the area.

Anyone know which rental companies would be best for this and which rental company location (code if possible) we would drop off the car at the port?

Many thanks

I like the idea of the morning walk.
I'll be alone though :) I know my wife and daughter will kill me if I even suggest they get up at that time on holidays. I always have to bring tea and chocolate milk along with some danishes or I'm toast with them :)

Lorraine we have rented with Budget. The prices ont he websites are up and down but I found they were closest to the port, they SAID (though it is still disputed) that they have a shuttle to take youb ack to the ship but I'll just cab it if not, and we got the best price on a mini van from them. I think some others are using Alamo.

Cheers,
Grumbo

I'm pretty sure that is the location I chose. I'm at work and all my correspondence are in my files at home. I got the Budget Quick card too (Can't remember the exact name for it) so that you can get in immediately and out from LAX.
I'm going to call the Budget office by the port again later (I called once already and they said they WILL drive you to the port as long as it is before noon I think on a Saturday) to confirm the shuttle.

btw Grew up in Leicester not too far from you :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Grumbo- I plan on doing the morning walk too. As one of the sisters said, I hope to see a lot less of you girls in August...Mark

We are also using Budget. We are picking up a minivan at LAX and returning it to Long Beach. The code is LG2 for the Budget office we are using. There are two in Long Beach. One is near the airport, the other one is closer to the port. We are paying about $75 per day for the minivan.

Just wanted to jump in here... I usually just lurk and have had a lot of fun getting to know everybody through their posts. And even though I don't post much I would really like to meet everybody once on board the ship.

So, Mark, could you please add my family to the list for the meet? I am going to say 4 people for now. Because this is our first cruise, and my boys will only be 7 and 4 I am unsure if they will want to stay in the kid's clubs on the very first day of the cruise. Then again, I could be surprised!

Tracy, I would also love to add our names to the wine tasting. And for this I will make sure those kids stay in the club!

Since we live in Southern California we only need airfare home and I got a great deal on American Airlines. $112.60 from MCO to LAX on Saturday. However, I purchased this last month so I am not sure if this rate would still be around.

Many thanks to everyone who is organizing all these activities!

Gabrielle

Arlene, thanks for the info about the Christmas cruise. It will be fun to hear about the May cruise when it comes.

A morning walk sounds good too, although DH and DD will surely be along.

I was planning to walk anyway, but it will be more fun with company! I really enjoyed it last time, lost count of how many times around I went, was enjoying the breeze and the ocean!
