Hi Scratch

My sister is still in ICU, but they've weaned her off the intubated ventilator and onto an oxygen mask yesterday. She suffered another small heart attack last night, but is still hanging on. Poor soul, her body is just shutting down. She's better than last week, but the doctors keep stressing how weak she is and how few reserves she has left to fight with. Her first words to me yesterday, though, were "Told you - Stay Home"! Even though I'm 44, she worries about me driving at night!

Thanks for asking.

Arlene

Pixie Dust and Prayers for her!

Izzinmac ~ I must not be that "Senior"! I don't mumble yet!

But I have been known to drool over the likes of Johnny Depp!

Hey everyone, here's an idea, when we meet Bmwdsny for the first time EVERYONE continuously cover your mouth when you talk. Always ask her to either speak up or ask her to stop yelling, and when speaking directly to her, either develop a stutter or leave some ____ out of ____ sentences. I have a few deaf friends and yes I do mess with them. Granted it's not as much fun as rearranging the furniture on your drunk blind friend, but it can be fun.

Arlene,
I must have missed the prior posts regarding your sis...prayers to her and family....How old is she?? What was the original situation?

Oh, i know you are kidding regarding mouth covering....I am kidding around also...I don't always read other people lips, esp in the dining room...,I am not that nosey!!!!
if that is the case then I am constantly ignoring my family!!! LOL!!

HA!!!!!

Mark, you just don't who you are messing with!!! Ok, so you have a few deaf friends, but you just wait, when you deal with ME personally!!!!
Does anyone know sign Language???? I bet you don't Mark!!! SL can be very beneficial for me too and my DH and I signed to each other... making fun of other people!!

Love the MONKEY picture, though!!!

And you know what, Mark...I ain't gonna tell you who i am at first!!
In fact, i will be among the crowds of the nonfools passengers for awhile!! I won't be wearing any lime shirts or Disboard eveidence on me when i board....:smooth:

I will be watching you!!!! puckerup: puckerup:

The way I'm making friends here I better stay incognito too!!

Melinda, you can probably answer a question I've been wondering about for a long time. My friend doesn't wear hearing aids and she says that when she drives she's always worried about becoming tired and doozing off on long drives. She says that since she hears nothing, the monotony of the drive lulls her to sleep very easily. Is this a problem you've heard about?

Watch it, it could be a trick question!LOL

Melinda ~ maybe you could also offer D&N Sign Language Classes?

I gotta stay away from this board during working hours! I keep laughing out loud here and my boss knows that I'm not working!LOL

I'm bringing along notepads, so when I'm dining, I can write notes to my husband while mouthing obscenities! HA! And Melinda, I LOVE watching baseball games and reading the lips of the players, coasches and umpires! Of course, their are many words that you don't need to know how to read lips to know what they're saying!

I guess I'll have to stock plenty of napkins with the Depends and bottles of "Senior Moment" for those of you who have saliva control problems!

My gawd, what's gotten into you people!! I leave the boards for a few hours, drive home from work, eat, and I'm about a gazillion posts behind! Doesn't anyone know how to shut up!!!

Grumbo...I can't believe what youv'e gone and done!! We had ONE sane, serious, quiet poster...and you went and challenged his sense of humour

I did try to help, keep you on track, get everyone to have a great cruise, and then I realised this was the DCL training camp for:-

Failed cruise directors.
Amateur Shore excursions.
And what we call in London, Southend seaside postcard humour!.
But the most important thing of all, your having FUN!!!!!!!!!!

I am going back to start a serious thread!!

By the time I come back tomorrow I think this thread will be on page 400!!!

Andrew you have to realize the only one with the Southend Seaside post card mentality is Mark. ;)
I hope you don't wear a hankie on your head though Andrew. Nothing worse than going to the seaside and a bunch of pale old men, wearing their cozzies in a Gale force wind, hankies on their heads, with blanket windbreaks up to shield them from the wind.
Geez memories of Mablethorpe :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

I woke up this morning with a cold and we leave for vacation tomorrow. At least I still had a few laughs from you guys today.

Without prejudice to independent operators, taken from a local paper..

October 13th A driver of shore excursions working for JGE, working at the local port with a old bus, which was falling apart everywhere, Drove off as soon as the cruise passengers went onto his bus at great speed.
Driving around mountains, on little roads at 99 miles per hour, on three wheels, and taking 90 degree turns.

Reports say people though he was in training for 'lights camara action at MGM studios'.

He however went too fast around one turn, and crashed the bus into a church.
Luckily all of the passengers were unhurt, but when the driver crashed into the church he and the priest at the door didn't survive.
At heavens door there was a queue ( and no fastpass for five hours 23:05-00.05). St Peter came to the priest and the driver, and said as they 'died' at exactly the same time, they would queue up in order of contribution to God.
The priest said that's me, and the driver agreed, so he started to make his way towards the queue, but St Peter said sorry no, its the driver, the priest asked why?
Peter said, in your church once a week on Sunday, you speak to three people only, however the bus driver does six trips a day, with forty people in each, and when they are in his bus...

They pray and pray and pray!!!

Denine, really sorry you woke up with a cold. Go to your nearest drugstore and dissolve an "Airborne" lozenge in about 1/4 cup of water at least 3 to 4 times a day, and then get "Zicam" nasal swabs and throat melts - read directions for the swabs - basically swab and hold nose for 30 seconds - no liquids for 30 minutes after the throat melt. This will help you, I promise, I learned about these on the DIS!

Have a great trip, get healthy, drink a bloody mary for me on the plane!

Hugs and feel better,

Barbara

:hyper: OK guys, you've unleashed Andrew, he's as wild as the rest of you! My dh is going to fit in just right with our Ship of Fools! Can't wait to meet everyone!:teeth:

Ok, depsite a warning from Scratch, i take you up for serious: LOL!

I am not surprised about your friend..Think abou this..you are totally deaf and don't hear a thing..and you are driving...how boring!! What do you do to keep yourself awake?? Listen to radio ir converse with others!! But with your friend, the only thing she could do is perhaps keep the window open and feel the wind...While i am deaf, but not totally deaf, I can hear some with hearing aids (but nothing w/o hearing aids); as a passenger, i lulled myself to sleep if there is too much talking going on in the car and I can't hear what we are talking about. As a driver, i have the radio on...Can't hear the lyrics, but hear the beats of the music. You never see me tune into a "ALL TALK" radio station, but an all music...
So yeah, in a no sound world in a motion machine, you can easily fall asleep!!!::yes::

My DD and I took two semesters of sign language. We had a fabulous teacher. I was amazed at all the symbols and variations there are.
