August 18-24 will the week when many southern schools(including Florida) start school.

December 15-21 will be the week before Christmas.

BTW Both start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday. We will not visit the parks on Arrival and Departure Day, so Park Days will be Mon.-Fri.

Which Dates will be more crowded?

How will the weather be for each?

Also, can you please rank the weeks from 1 being the lowest crowd and 10 being the highest crowd?

Thanks!!!

More crowded...
touringplans shows the August dates to be 6-7's while the Dec dates early on are 2-4's then jump to an 8 until the 21st... so sounds like park a little less crowded Dec dates. We have been there around that time and we loved it.
You will be able to enjoy all the holiday stuff as well, which our fav time of year

Weather...
August is still in hurricane season, and still very hot. Dec can get a little cool but not bad IMO. I would pick Dec weather over August

I would go with Dec myself, but hey ANY day at Disney is a good day :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'll add this as well.............

Your December visit will include a lot of really cool holiday atmosphere and decorations.

Your August visit will include being surrounded by other hot and sweaty tourists.

Those August dates will have temps beyond oppressive! I STILL remember the unbearable heat that time of year, and that was my first visit, at age 17 !.... (That was 33 years ago! Lol)

I am from Southern Louisiana and I would avoid anything below the Mason-Dixon line in August! Seriously, it gets VERY hot. We are pro's at hurricane season too and I don't plan any vacations during PEAK hurricane season. I'd go for December.

YAY! WDW is even more magical when decorated for the holidays and it would be so much fun to resort hop on your days off from the parks to look at all the beautiful decorations! Plus Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a lot of fun and a great way to celebrate the holiday season in the parks! :)

Good Choice! You won't be sorry :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, I will be there in August this year... no choice I am afraid (there on business). But considering I was at DL in November, then Aulani 2 weeks ago, then WDW in August and hopefully DCL in Sept... I can't complain right :)

OP didn't post his/her kid's ages. Best time to go is what is good for your kids. Trust me...I've always asked the teacher....when pulling the kids out of school. I've never been told no. Family is more important than anything else.

December is better IMHO. Holiday decorations and special activities are amazing! :cool1:

We are visiting the August week you mentioned due to work, school and sports schedules. I am well prepared for the weather, having visited in the summer on numerous occasions. Not my preferred time to visit, but better than no visit! We will have a great time no doubt. :goodvibes

WDW does the holidays spectacularly well.....not to be missed!
