I am thinking about going to disney at the end of aug. aug30-sept 8. Is it going to be really crowed? when do the codes come out?

the codes are already late for April/May (if there will be any) - so it could be as late as July before Aug/Sept codes are release -or next month.

Disney is also sending out postcards - so watch for one.

i went last august during the time you mentioned, and i plan to go again to celebrate my birthday disney style again.

for me it wasn't that crowded, but it wasn't a ghost town either. :)

it was quite do able, and the lines weren't that long -- except for the water rides in the parks (not including the waterparks since we didn't go there).

We go every August at that time and we love it. We only used fast pass twice the 8 days we were there. The waterparks were more crowded but we went at opening and we were leaving by 1:00 when the crowds were getting really heavy.

We went the end of August in 2002 and found that it was't extremely busy but not slow either. That said we are going again August 20th through Sept 3rd. I hope you have a great trip.

Late August has become our annual trip to WDW. The crowds are a bit smaller being that most of the kids are back in school.

don't forget about the hurricanes. i hate to bring that up, but, we went the third week in august (right between the 2 big hurricanes) and really lucked out. unfortunately alot of people weren't so lucky and had to cancel. also it is HOT!!! i live in coastal south carolina so i am used to hot weather, but it was miserable walking around in that heat all day and even at night....... who am i kidding i would still go anyway!!! :earsgirl:

I agree with what everyone has said so far. Crowds are very manageable at the end of Aug, beginning of Sept. And since it is a non-peak time for most of the resorts, there will definitely be discount codes offered (we have gotten them 2 of the last 3 years).

The one thing that people have neglected to mention is the extreme HEAT!!!!

As well as the oppressive HUMIDITY!!!!!

I have been to Disney approx 30 times, however I went for the first time during the month of August 3 years ago. Following that trip, I swore I would never go again at that time.
Last year, due to the fact that it's the only real time I can bring my twin 13 year old boys during a non-peak time without taking them out of school, we went again. Following that trip, I doubly swore (with things I cannot repeat here) that I would never go again at that time of year.

Needless to say, we are scheduled to go again this Aug (18-25). I told my wife that it's kind of like childbirth. It's horrible when you go through it, you swear at the time you'll never do it again, but after some time you forget the pain and let your guard down.

All I can say is that you had better be prepared for extreme heat and humidity (it's usually in the high 90's during the day, and still into the high 80's well into the evening). A short walk at 10pm in the evening will cause you to break out into a sweat- forget about it at 3pm.

May God Help Us.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: it's horrible the end of aug/early sept... stay away so we can have the parks all to ourselves :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

seriously... look at my sig... we love it then... low crowds, good prices, the heat is tolerable (mainly 'cause the crowds are low!)

ENJOY!

We've been end of Aug once & are doing it again this year. It is extremely hot & humid, which I personally enjoy. I want to feel the air stick to my skin.
The crowds thin out considerably after the 3rd week. As long as you are out of there before Labor Day weekend, crowd level is quite manageable.

Just be prepared to deal with the heat - plan to drink alot, wear sunscreen all the time, tour early & late whenever possible, take a mid-day break to swim or rest out of the peak heat of the day, use fastpasses etc.... and you will be fine.

I think dealing with any extreme in temperature is partially a mind over matter deal. I just tell myself that I will be happy & comfortable & get myself in the frame of mind to enjoy it & I do.

LOL! This cracked me up! I will say, it only took a day to adjust to the heat/humidity we had the second week of September. I'm hoping we adjust as quickly come August.

We were there the same time and though the same about how lucky we were. We'll see what happens this year.
