~Aug 2013~ Sew what~We've gotta find a way back-Part II- TR link posted - 8/31

Ruth, I am sorry I did not notice the status of your Mom & the loss of your BIL. My condolences on your loss. And continued prayers for you mom, and of course all those that will miss your BIL.

we are thinking of changing our dates a little bit like oct 1-12,2014 CSR business class..........with 8 park days and MNSSHP on one of our days off.
so arrival day no park and departure day no park, 1 full day off and 1 day only MNSSHP so 12 days instead of 11 yippie

Sorry about the wasted trip to work...LOL...sounds like something I would do.

I know I tell you this all the time. But I wanted to make sure you knew how much I admire you and your sewing skills!

I have been a seamstress almost my entire life (and THAT is a L O N G time!), I have been a quilter for over 36 years, and a machine embroiderer for at least 4 years. With all that experience under my belt I can only wish I could sew as well as you. The fact that you post up close pictures of the stitch detail in ev even you zippers...ah mazing!

Not a stitch out of place...everything straight and true. Being the recipient of one of your bags and one of your AG dresses, I can attest to the fact that pictures don't begin to do them justice.

It is like saying that Everest is a mountain, or that Mickey is a mouse. While it is true, and gives you an idea of what is trying to be said...it does not come close when you see them in real life (not that I have seen Everest in real life).

I am so proud to say that I know you and count you as a friend.

Nini

This is just the sweetest post! It echoes the way most of us feel. Very well said! And I'm sure your sewing is gorgeous. We are always our worst critics!

That sounds wonderful! Have you been to MNSSHP? It is the most fun!! Planned days off are always good too.:thumbsup2

Ruth, I lost your quote, but I am sorry to hear about your BIL. My heart goes out to your MIL and DH. I've been praying for all of you and will continue to do so. Glad your Mom is doing well with the rehab. Hope it continues.

D~ I so hope you get your bag done so you can take Sunday off. Maybe you all could go see Monsters University if it's still playing in your area. Hope you have a great day at work that goes quickly and is not boring.:goodvibes

wish I had time for a proper reply, but it's already 12:30 and I have to work at 7 tomorrow... I just did a skim through, The bags are just INSANE! Love Alli's the most!

Nini

Oh wow, Nini - I just don't even know what to say... Thank you seems so inadiquate. What you said just means so much to me, coming from someone as experienced and talented as you are, I just have no words. And thank you as well - I truly enjoy your friendship, and I am so happy that we have become such good friends over the years. I hope that some day - we will get the chance to meet in real life.

Such cute pictures with Dopey and Snow White!

Bummer you went to work and didn't need to be there! Sounds like something I would do. I've got a "Notes" app on my I phone and I've started to put things in there so I don't forget. Right now I have one that says "Butter pretzels". I'm pretty sure that was my grocery list while Jim was out of town.

Hahaha... Well, this time - I did exactly that... I put my schedule on my phone... Hopefully I can keep track of that...

So I called Disney right at 7 am today. I expected to be on hold forever but got through without even being on hold for 30 seconds! Even with calling that early, POR had zero availability for the week we are going. My second choice was POFQ because I've never stayed there but it wasn't even included in the offer. So I ended up at CSR. I stayed there in 2011 and really liked it so I think it will be fine! All that was available there was water view or king bed so I got us a nice big king bed for the week! Ended up saving a grand total of $5. But at least we will be in a moderate resort rather than POP.

I do have to laugh at the $5 savings - but you're upgraded to a moderate resort - so the savings is really more significant than that. Hopefully more availability opens up later... I was hoping that Disney would eventually add our time frame to their FD offer - but it never happened.

I have to agree with EVERYTHING Nini said here. I too have been sewing forever - making clothing, quilts, costumes, etc. and your talent amazes me.

Thank you Tess, this really means a lot to me... I am not sure what I do so differently from everyone else? I just sew... :thumbsup2 There is so much talent with in all of my friends - there truly is... Each of you inspires me every single day - whether you know it or not... :lovestruck:

I really wish Dopey would come out more (or one of the Dwarfs) with Snow White.

Cute pictures and looks like all were having a good time.

Hate a wasted travel day when you didn't even have to work. Need to check those pockets more carefully before doing the laundry.

I know - I wish all the dwarves would come out more often too...

Yah - the wasted travel day was a bummer... but the worst of it, is that I have to dread going to work all over again the next day. :rotfl2:

D. So sorry you had to drive to work yesterday and not be on. I don't get why the don't text or email the schedule. Doesn't make sense.

Have a good day and I hope it goes by quickly.

I am excited to see your next bag.

Yah - well, this time, I put my schedule on my phone - so hopefully I don't lose/misplace/wash/dry/forget it again... :scared:

Love that 1st pic you posted. The girls look so so happy! Love the family one also. And all the ones with Dopey. That is so awesome he wanted to play with your fam.

Love the expression you caught in Bullseyes face.

Thanks!!! Yah - I really miss that age a lot... I love the age they are now, but they were so much fun back then too!

I am super excited about my Toy Story bag... I really want to carry it today - but I am trying to hard to refrain and save it for the trip... :scratchin

Bummer that you went all the way to work. I am not good about checking pockets because I NEVER put things in my pockets until the one time I do and it goes thru the wash. Didn't someone suggest you take a picture of the schedule with your cell phone? I thought that was a good idea but I have no idea what your schedule looks like. The fact that they can not e-mail out a final version is beyond me but....

Well, this time, I wrote it in my notes on my phone - so hopefully that does the trick.

Great pictures and a fun story too. I love seeing the faces of everyone else in line laughing and enjoying Dopey's antics. This is a great family photo too. Maybe you can use that love of Snow White to talk Josh into a trip to DW someday.

Thanks! Hmmm... That is a brillianit idea... Maybe I can get Snow to sign a personal letter to Josh - asking him to come back to visit her? :scratchin

What she said.

Funny story about D~'s bag: last summer during the meet in Charlotte, Beth and I were headed to meet everyone at the mall and we stopped in the Coach store. Beth was wearing her awesome Beauty and the Beast bag and she didn't get two feet into the store before the girl working in the store was complimenting her and asking her about the bag. Some of the other customers joined in and complimented Beth on her bag too. I thought it was a great compliment to D~'s skills when the employee of a store that sells high end purses stops to oohhh and ahhhh over a D~ original.

That is a funny story... I don't remember the two of you telling me about this? I loved Beth's bag set so much - it was so cute!!! I need to send her a message on FB, I haven't talked to her in ages!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

You'd think a chain as big as Target would encourage (or better yet, supply) their stores with an employee website and post schedules. I'm concerned that one day you'll be a day late, rather than a day early.

Good Sewing - and soon you'll have 2 of your own bags!

I've been thinking of you Ruth - please know that.

What I meant was clues to your next trip after August? Have a good night!

Ahhh... Hahaha... Some mornings, I am a bit slow... Well... I don't have much to clue you in on... Only that I have a time frame in mind... And I really NEED Free Dining this time - even though I was able to use the military discount this time around - it was still really rough for me to come up with all the funds to pay for this trip... So a lot will depend on that. Let's just say - I am going to Disney with enough funds to book another trip if there is a bouceback offer in my room... :woohoo:

Ruth, I am sorry I did not notice the status of your Mom & the loss of your BIL. My condolences on your loss. And continued prayers for you mom, and of course all those that will miss your BIL.

Very nicely said Dee... :grouphug:

Oooh - that would be WONDERFUL!!! I'd love to go for a longer trip, but after our last trip - the girls and I decided that 10 days is our max right now... It's just so hard for us to be away from home - even though we love Disney... Now, if Snow White could just talk Josh into coming down... :scratchin

This is just the sweetest post! It echoes the way most of us feel. Very well said! And I'm sure your sewing is gorgeous. We are always our worst critics!

Awww... Thank you Lois.

I agree!! ! Love MNSSHP!

Me too!!!! Hmmm.... That is a brilliant idea!!! We just migth do that!

I hope you have a great day at work... I agree - I love all the bags for different reasons, but Alli's is my favorite too!

**********************************************************

I worked at Target all day yesterday.... It was quite boring, but I made it through.

Today - well, today is Friday... Which means shopping day... Soooo not prepared for it at all.

It is also BFF's birthday!!!! We are exactly 2 months apart (OK - technically, we are 10 months apart, since she is older - but...) - I am June 2, she is Aug 2... So rather than meeting up for shopping right away this morning, like we usually do, we are meeting up so I can take her out to lunch - then we are going to do our shopping.

I started working on her birthday gift yesterday afternoon... Yah - I know - nothing like last minute... She requested a new wallet... She said she didn't care if I made it or if I bought it - but she needed a new one.... So, of course, I am making it. It's just going to be a simple Mickey head wallet - but hopefully she likes it - as she loves Disney as much as I do.

Here's a photo of Bff and I a few summers ago... Despite the fact we are together all the time - we don't have a lot of photos of us...

Soooo... Happy Birthday to BFF!!!

You all will get to know her real soon... As she is involved in the planning of our next WDW trip... :rolleyes1

**********************************************************

Yup... More trip planning stuff...

I got a wild hair yesterday morning... Decided to cancel an ADR or two... and replace them with something else... So even though I've already printed my Mini-Planner pages... I need to do some reprints.

I also rearranged some of our park days/days off schedule... Our plans are such a mess now - I am not sure what I was thinking? :confused3

Maybe I should have left everything alone... but I didn't... I felt the urge to tweek everything... :crazy2:

Still waiting on our park tickets to arrive... They aren't due for a few more days - but I am getting a tad nervous...

**********************************************************

Alrighty... PHotos for today... A Garden Grill series with BFF from high school and her family... Great food - great fun!

I hope you all have a wonderful day - and a wonderful weekend if you don't check back... Prayers to all in need. (((Hugs)))

Cute pictures from Garden Grill. I have not eaten there since 1998 when it was still open for lunch.

You should totally get Snow White to sign something for your husband. :thumbsup2 A few years ago, I got a post card in the mail that said "Come visit me" and it was signed by Pluto! At the time I hadn't been to Disney in about 10 years so I was shocked at first. Then I found out a friend of my Mom's had been at Disney and had Pluto sign the post card. It definitely got me thinking about how much I wanted to go back. Four trips later with two more in the works, I'd say it was effective! :rotfl:

Wait....what??! You are messing with your schedule AGAIN?! Could you please stop and have a little compassion for the poor souls like me who are trying to keep up so we can stalk you??

Geesh....

And what is this about a "day off" on Sunday?? You don't get any "days off" lady. Get in that sewing room and get busy!

MWAH.....love you....mean it :)

You've changed your plans again?

I'm confused as to when Suzi and I are meeting and we thought you were going to be there that day. I don't know where I'm supposed to be when. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Love the Garden Grill pictures. We have not been there in at least 17 years and are going in December...can't wait to try it out again.

Finally after a long break for the boards I am back. Life certainly got busy and a few things needed to be put on the back burner. With running to visiting colleges, DD's prom, and all her "senior year" activities; along with everything else it was certainly a busy school year in this household. Needless to say I survived HS Graduation!!!! Of course I was planning a trip to our favorite place then my daughter threw me a curve ball. :scared1:
Needless to say our trip was postponed (due to good reasons). Then last minute DD changed her mind ~ yet again. SIGH!!! I have to admit deep down I was thrilled :cheer2:, but I couldn't let her know it.

SO, I think I am finally caught up. LOVE all the bags you have made during the last several months, and so excited about your soon to be trip!

D~ Your trip bag is just fantastic! I love the mix of fabrics and how well they compliment each other.

You and your BFF look gorgeous! How fun that she gets to join in during your next trip. :goodvibes

What nice pics of you and your BFF.

Cancelling ADR's...for something else???? hmmm what are you planning. AND what ADR did you cancel? Anything I would want? hahaha

I totally understand about not getting many pictures when you spend alot of time together. After our dear friend passed away I realized we didn't have many pictures of him. I think because he came over every Thursday, it was never a "special" occassion to which we would take out a camera. So, we don't have many pictures. And at parties, he was the one always jumping up to help get ready, or clean, or refill trash barrels, So, he was always busy & never seemed to get into the pictures much.

Everyone....do yourselves a favor & take many photos of those you spend the most time with. No matter what the "occassion" is or isn't. They are the ones you will want the pictures of later.

Now, Mrs. Drewsky.....what an adorable picture! I am going to have to jump over & ck out that PTR too. Although, I though I had started it...hmm...

Have a wonderful weekend everyone

We love Garden Grill... But the last trip wasn't as fun as before - and I think it's because the girls are older, so the characters felt a little awkward... Which is why we are trying some new places in Epcot this time around.

Hahaha... LOVE it - what a brilliant idea! I might just have to do that.

Wait....what??! You are messing with your schedule AGAIN?! Could you please stop and have a little compassion for the poor souls like me who are trying to keep up so we can stalk you??

Geesh....

Yes... I am sorry... But some things needed to be switched around. I don't think our plans change any. :thumbsup2

Hahaha... Pfft.... I really need a day off. LOL

You've changed your plans again?

I'm confused as to when Suzi and I are meeting and we thought you were going to be there that day. I don't know where I'm supposed to be when.

It's OK Kathy - we will figure it out.

Love the Garden Grill pictures. We have not been there in at least 17 years and are going in December...can't wait to try it out again.

I am very happy you are going back there - it is one of our favorites... However our last meal there was a bit awkward - so we are trying something new this time. I am a little sad that we won't be eating there this trip though.

SO, I think I am finally caught up. LOVE all the bags you have made during the last several months, and so excited about your soon to be trip!

Welcome back!!! It's good to have you back on The Dis! SOunds like you have had a crazy year, but you have a trip to look forward to - so that awesome!

D~ Your trip bag is just fantastic! I love the mix of fabrics and how well they compliment each other.

You and your BFF look gorgeous! How fun that she gets to join in during your next trip.

Thanks Ashley! Yes, we are excited to be planning this trip - we've been planning it for YEARS!!! Hopefully it goes smoothly... LOL

What nice pics of you and your BFF.

Thanks!!! I love her! She is so good to the girls and I.

Cancelling ADR's...for something else???? hmmm what are you planning. AND what ADR did you cancel? Anything I would want? hahaha

I don't think it's anything you want - or anything you couldn't get yourself at this point. LOL Just a little tweeking... That's all. :rolleyes1

I agree totally... We've been trying to make a point of doing this more lately - especially now that we have cameras in our phones - we find ourselves taking more pictures than usual.

**********************************************************

So, yesterday BFF, Alli and I went to the mall... I needed to redeem a coupon at Victoria's Secret... :rolleyes1 And Alli wanted to order new Vans for the trip... I am VERY nervous that she won't have enough time to break them in before we go... I will have to make double sure on the days she wears them into the park, she has a pair of backup shoes with her in her bag. They are very cute! A little bummed that they didn't have her size in that store and we had to ship them, but oh well - they should be here by Wed.

I took BFF and Alli out to lunch at Olive Garden. It was delicious!!!

Then, we did our grocery shopping... Yet again - despite not having "much" on my list, I over spent - but I did have a decent savings of about 40%.

The girls and I didn't get home until after dinner time. Thankfully - none of us were hungry - so we just all skipped dinner last night - which we NEVER do in our house.

I plan to work out here shortly, then I am headed up to my sewing room for the day... It is my hope that I will finish my second park bag today... It will be close.

**********************************************************

Today's photos... Just a couple of fun night time Epcot shots of the girls and I...

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend... Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. :grouphug:

D~ <---- Who may, or may not, have bag photos for you all later today. popcorn::

LOL...I have to tell you that in our house...I always call Olive Garden...Garden Grill. Only because they both have the word Garden in their name... but my family always tease me about how addicted I am to Disney that I can't get the name right!

Nini

I want C to try vans for school this year. Hopefully we will get to the mall before school.

Good luck with your sewing.

Nini that is funny. I have never been to Olive Garden.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and care. :lovestruc Right now my biggest issue is making sure my mom's bills are taken care of on time. Silly me - I followed her directions instead of doing it my way & now I'm stressed about it. Should have just looked at what she does and do it my way.

DH has been holding up pretty well, enough to notice that what I really want (and need) is a day in my sewing room without having to worry about anything or anyone. I'm HOPING I can get that day Tuesday.

On a trip note, I am breaking in the shoes I got specifically for this upcoming trip: they are bright orange, but I got them on sale! Hopefully Alli will be able to break hers in well enough to stave off any issues during the trip. Blisters are No Fun!.

Looking forward to your bag.

Whoot - I finished it!!! That means I get a day off tomorrow! :cool1:

First off - I want to thank Tess... When I originally made the Jiminy themed UPB for my auction a few months ago - I fell in love with it... I debated long and hard, and I finally asked Tess if I could make another Jiminy themed bag for myself to carry. I loved how all the colors of that bag went so nicely together... So, I used a lot of the same colors - but I changed up their locations as much as possible and I used a totally different applique. All in all - I love both bags... They both turned out awesome! So, thank you Tess!!! I really appreciate you allowing me to make this bag theme for myself!

Anyways... Here's mine...

Interior... I just love this fabric - I've been hoarding little pieces of it for a couple of years... I always wanted to make something from it - I just didn't know what. This fabric is out of print, and it was only sold in one online store (it's the same designer who did the lining fabric from the recent Ursula UPB)... It's really rare and really HTF... And I am very glad I used it for this project - I was a little unsure of it at first - but I think it turned out really vibrant and cute!

:scratchin Okay, so maybe that picture wasn’t worth 1,000 words. Can’t fault a guy for trying.

:worship: Your new bag is another amazing masterpiece. Jiminy will love going to WDW with y’all. The appliqué is flawless as always and I love the fabrics you chose. I can see why you were hoarding the inside fabric.

:3dglasses I can’t believe you’re in the final countdown to your trip. Seems like it’s been in the works almost since you got back. I haven’t been too faithful staying up to date with all of your plans, but I’m sure you’ve got a chockfull itinerary and a few yummy meals planned, too.

 Good news about Dorrrine. I went to New York a couple weeks ago (primarily to see Book of Mormon, I didn’t realize how politically/religiously incorrect it is) BUT I went to the American Girl store and after two years I finally broke down and bought Dorrrine a brush. Well, I haven’t used it yet, but the good news is I have it in case I‘m ever inspired to brush her hair.

:mickeybar I hope you have a fantastic trip and that the weather cooperates. (I’ve never been in the summer, but I know the pools will be a refreshing break.)

:wizard: Happy trails!

What another fun group of pictures. Love how Dopey wanted to play and not take pictures.

Amazing!! Jiminy is just way to cute!! Enjoy your day off!!
