~Aug 2013~ Sew what~We've gotta find a way back-Part II- TR link posted - 8/31

I'm finally back to normal for a few weeks. Our California company left on Saturday and yesterday was pure relaxation once we got home from church. I've been sick for nearly 2 weeks, but finally felt better yesterday.

It took me quite a while to catch up, but I have to say it was worth it to see all of your amazing creations! I love the UP back so much!! And the Pluto/Mickey one was adorable. I also love that wristlet and will have to get the pattern. I haven't been on the DISboutique thread either, so will have to catch up there as well.

You may have noticed (or not) that my ticker is missing. That's because I will be canceling our September trip. I'm very sad, but Dan didn't really want to use every bit of his vacation left and he needed a few days off to spend with his cousin while he and his wife were here. This takes the pressure of of him, so I suggested we just cancel. We'll be going in April of next year with one or both of our grandchildren who are turning 5 in 2014. So, I really need to start planning that trip, which helps take the sting out of losing this one. I just LOVE our trips together and free dining probably won't be around much longer. Still, I feel blessed to get to go almost every year!

Hope you have a great day in your sewing room. I've missed checking in on a regular basis. I'll be here until August 9th when I go to Virginia to stay with my daughter until she has the baby and then as long as she needs me afterwards. Love the vintage photos!!!

Dawn, I am doing ok. Last year was the worst year of my life. Still have a brain tumor and its causing some problems still. I apologize for disappearing on everyone. I just couldn't be on here for awhile. Tink may have told you that we lost our daughters this past August. I kind of hid from the world for awhile grieving privately. My grief counselor thinks I need to get back out in the world so I am trying but it's hard everyday.
I just wanted to say that I am sorry for all you have been suffering. :grouphug:

Leaving work early today as must go to a wake/memorial for the husband of a woman I have worked with 30 years; he was only 58. :(
So sad.

Lois - I am sorry you have to cancel your Sept trip but April will be here before you know it.

D~ I had to come over to my computer to see your Mickey and Pluto bag since the pictures on my phone are way to small to really marvel at your work. That bag just makes me happy!!! Your wallet is very nice too, the extra zipper pocket will come in handy.

The girls look so pretty in that picture at the Poly. Hope V has fun at her friend's this week.

I had to post this..

I was laughing so hard and CANNOT believe you didn't warn me about this...
The trouble i could have gotten into during our MOA stay!!! Bad D~

My suitcase is in my closer and I already have stuff in it.:rotfl2:

I am so sorry for both of your losses. I just can't imagine... Prayers for everyone.

Lois, I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip, but keeping the hubster happy is important....and you will get to go next year!

Kat is doing very well - standing and walking on her own. Just need the speech to improve and keep working on the arm and hand.

Thank heaven for these wonderful friends, some who's faces we have never seen, or only seen via pictures on a computer. Their strength, love, humor and prayers help us through our pain; physical, mental, and emotional.

Sorry for the minor hijack, D~, but everyone's response to shared hurts is hitting me more than usual.

Even in the midst of terrible hurt, Disney makes a difference. DH's brother was admitted to the hospital with brain trauma Saturday and so he got very little sleep Saturday night. Sunday he took a break from the hospital to come home but still couldn't sleep so he did some laundry. He called me into the laundry room to show me the hidden Mickey he'd found.

Still here following along...just not commenting much.

Love the Pluto bag! So very very cute. Glad to hear that V is having a great time with BFF. It's fun to reconnect. :thumbsup2 I'm excited to see what V's bag looks like...and the auction bag. Happy sewing!

Prayers. I'm happy you are trying to get back to your happy place. I can't imagine how difficult your life has been recently. I hope you find joy & laughter in these printed words.

D~ thank you for mentioning the photopass...i had forgotten to order mine. Well, I had started to order it & the connection failed.
Love the pins also. We haven't gotten into the pin trading yet.

Can't wait to see the new auction bag.

Again - I just wanted to say that I am so sorry for your loss.

But - yay for having your suitcase in your closet already - I really need to bring mine up - I am afraid it will be over flowing already, and I haven't even added any of my clothes. I should take a picture of my pile so you all can see... it's pretty disasterous. :rolleyes1

Good luck working on your auction bag.

Glad V is having fun.

I sent J off to school already this morning. Going to work on a few things before. Have to get dressed for work.

Thanks... I hope you had a great day yesterday too.

I wanted to quote you again, and just say that you have been on my mind. Please know we are all thinking of you and lifting you up. :grouphug:

Sorry about that... We tend to chat a bit. Thank you so much - I am still in love with Alli's Up bag... I am so happy she loves it. Yes, you need to get that wristlet pattern - I love it!

So sorry you had to cancel your trip... but on the plus side - the trip you plan for next year will be EPIC - and so much fun planning. I hope you do a PTR for that one!

I've been a crazy woman in my sewing room... I just keep plugging along though -and pray I have enough time to get everything done. I am lucky that I set such a rigid schedule for myself though - otherwise I would procrastinate forever, and that would be worse. :rolleyes1

I just wanted to say that I am sorry for all you have been suffering.

Thanks Liz! Yes - I love that extra zipper on the wallet... I like to tuck things away, and I am always worried about losing items when I open a bag/wallet - so this is perfect!

Well thank goodness you didn't find the need to lite up!!!

Hahaha... Well - I would have warned you if ever I thought we'd be somewhere that I would need to. :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for the update on Kat. I am very happy to hear how much progress she has made... What a strong and determined young lady - I have no doubt that she will make nearly a full recovery. :grouphug:

It's no problem Ruth - I feel exactly the same way. :grouphug: We are all very lucky to have eachother.

Awww.... I agree - Disney does help with hurt. I am so sorry about DH's brother. Is he doing any better now? Do they know what happened? I will keep him and your family in my prayers - please keep me updated.

Hi Stephanie! Thanks for checking in!

I am excited to see all these bags too - completed. I am still struggling with what to put on the front of V's bag - she wants one thing, I want another... :headache:

Prayers. I'm happy you are trying to get back to your happy place. I can't imagine how difficult your life has been recently. I hope you find joy & laughter in these printed words.

Happy I was able to remind you... Another 2 weeks - and you wouldn't be able to order it at all (Photopass + anyways)... I hope you were able to get it done.

You really need to get little DD into pin trading... My girls have met so many wonderful CMs due to pin trading - and it really enhances our trips immeasurably.

Pretty uneventful day here yesterday.

I worked on my auction bag all morning - I was able to stitch out the applique - it turned out very nice and I am happy with it.

Then I started cutting and quilting my custom order - that took a little bit longer than I'd intended. And I even had to go back up after dinner and mess with it for an hour or so - but I managed to get the whole thing quilted, so I am happy about that.

I did get some wonderful Disney mail yesterday though... :woohoo:
(I really wish that Photobucket would work right and rotate my photos properly)

20130715_131938.jpg

Super excited to have my Mickey Mail in my hands... Everything is in there... All of our ME stuff - our luggage tags - coupons (that we never use)... Yay!!! We are getting sooo close!

**********************************************************

I wanted to do a short weight loss update too...

Some of you know that I have been working very hard at getting in better shape for this trip. After our last trip, and how miserable I was, I was determined not to let that happen a second time. So, I've been working hard and eating better, but other than some muscle toning - I have not really been seeing that much difference. So, last week - I stepped it up a notch (or two) and added more cardio to my routine, and I also dropped most snacks out of my diet, and that seems to be helping.... I really want to lose a lot more than what I will be able to lose for this trip, and I also really want to be semi-good on this trip (eating wise)...

So, once we get a little closer to our trip - I will post some progress pictures for you all... Not that you will notice much progress, I am sure. But it still might be fun? Well, fun for everyone, but me. :rolleyes1

So, here's another vintage photo... One of my favorites... I still laugh hysterically every time I see this photo. I am surprised that I was able to get the camera to focus on it when I was taking it - because I was laughing so hard.

Have a fantastic day everyone - my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. :grouphug:

D~

Good for you on the healthy journey. I have been watching what I eat since having Sam and am going to look for my 1 mile walk DVDs today. I need to start small since I am allowed to do the walking finally. No weights or strength training yet :(

I need to start using my fitness pal again too for logging in my food.

I love Mickey Mail :)

OMG....this picture is AWESOME!!! Totally one of my favorites!

What a fun photo of the girls. Such fun memories.

As a follow up to one of your previous posts about your PP photographer, I don't remember hearing that she would not be there this trip. Hopefully you can find another photographer to spend some time with on this trip. Or just take Mo!!!

That picture of your girls is HILARIOUS!!! :rotfl2: Love it!

On the weight loss...remember how we started the journey together? I haven't been doing so hot. In fact, I think I totally quit on it about 6 months ago. :crazy2:

So, our cruise has a "formal night". I have 4 or 5 gorgeous dresses that I have bought for various Christmas and work parties over the last 5 years or so. I was looking at them last night... and they are ALL one size too small. :faint: I refuse to buy yet another dress when those are there, and most have only been worn once or twice. So it looks like, I need to jump back on MFP again... :scared: At least I have a year and two months to get this hot body back into shape. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

What a cute photo for today!! Gave me a nice laugh!

I've never done a ptr and I've actually never ever done an original post! I know, crazy, right? So, it might be fun to try it.

You know, the weight loss thing is so frustrating, isn't it? I have spent the last 4 1/2 months not eating the things that I'm allergic to. How can I NOT be losing weight?? No bread, pasta, dairy, eggs, gluten, white potatoes, sweets. Eating lots of vegetables and protein. Poor Dan is getting so skinny, he can't afford to lose any more. We are eating the same way, but he has lost over 25 pounds. And he was NOT overweight at all. I've lost a little, but I have another 50lbs. to go and nothing is happening. Sooooo frustrating!:furious: I hope you will hang in there and keep trying. I will if you will.::yes:::hug:

I'm with you on the weight loss program. I've lost a total of about 8 lbs since the beginning of June. DH and I joined the local gym since its been too hot to walk outside. I've been doing the Couch to 5K walk/run program. I've had some inches lost, so I am making progress. I'm hoping to run a 5k in September after we get back from our trip, so I do have a goal that I think I can reach.

Kat is being discharged from the rehab hospital on Friday. She will be staying with her Dad and doing out patient pt.

Loved that last vintage. That's some hat and such a great smile. Mickey Mail for u and Suzi. It is getting really close. Have a nice week.

Good for you! I am surprised to hear Kat is being released. I hope she continues to benefit from the rehab.

Still here and reading when I can. Just wanted to say good luck on the weight loss thing. It is soooo tough especially as we get older. I feel like I hit 40 and my metabolism just stopped. I dropped about 8-10 pounds between May and June and now I am stalled. Plus I injured myself playing tennis about three weeks ago and since that was my only form of regular exercise now I am really in trouble. Until this tennis leg heals I can't do much and it REALLY sucks. I am getting frustrated and impatient with this slow healing process.

I can't believe our trips are sooooo close now!!! Crazy!

Sent from my Nexus 7 using DISBoards

Love the photo. I had such great ambitions of loosing weight before this trip. Yeah, right. maybe next trip.
