~Aug 2013~ Sew what~We've gotta find a way back-Part II- TR link posted - 8/31

Just wanted to add a brief update on Kat. My youngest dd, Shannon and I were there yesterday. Kat was not having a good day and slept most of the time I was there. It was determined that she was severely anemic, and they were going to give her 2 units of blood last night. Apparently it worked because she was looking much better today. She will be getting a new drug treatment for the colitis. Once that is under control, they will be doing surgery to patch the hole in her heart, maybe by Monday. When she is stable from that, she will more than likely be moved to a rehab hospital, probably in Baltimore - which is much closer to home than Bethesda.

I shared a video her dad took of her in PT today on my Facebook page, where she was able to move her right leg a couple of times. Still a ways to go, but she is getting there - and is very determined to get there sooner rather than later. The speech is getting better too.

I am so glad Kat is improving Tess her attitude of determination and the surrounding family and prayers will get her there :grouphug:

Hi D...you move fast! I thought I had already posted in part2, because I want to follow it :) Now I have so we're good. Love the old pictures!!

Cute pictures!

Thanks! I just can't believe how fast the time is going and know it's not going to slow down anytime soon.

Hope you were able to get a little more work down in your sewing room. I'm sure you're bags will sell! Can't wait to find out whose on the bags!! I'm sure there will be at least one I want!!!

Notice anything different?? That's right! I'm sporting the latest trends in TICKERS!! We're booked at French Quarter with free dining!!:cheer2: I hate that we will miss you and the girls by just a week or so, but the free dining was what sweetened the pot for Dan. It's only for 5 nights and 6 days, which is sooo short, but I'm not complaining.

Moving on....I love that pic of V with Little Mermaid! Gosh, they grow so quickly, don't they? What great memories you have, and are making, though. Won't be long before you're on your way.

I love the color array of your bags! Can't wait to see the real deal, though. You're such a tease! Glad things are going well for you in the sewing room. Hope you get everything done you hope to do. :goodvibes

When you were talking about your extra trip expenses, I was amazed at how quickly everything adds up. I'll have to do that myself, much as I don't want to face the music. But so far I've made $100 on the garage sale (in rain and cold) so hopefully today and tomorrow will be even better. We also sold an upright freezer for $200. All for our trip.

Hope you get lots done today and have a wonderful weekend!!

Oh, and my DD's MIL wants me to email her pics of everything I make. She wants to sell them in her antique/boutique shop in Virginia!:scared1: Not sure I'm ready for prime time!!

I might suggest looking into getting your tickets at undercover tourist but I think your gift card discount will be a better deal. Their prices include shipping and taxes but you have to order 10 days out for the feee shipping. Have you recalculated your ticket costs with the ticket price increase that happened about 10 days ago?

Not sure if you saw, but I replied to this yesterday. :)

I have to go on my computer to see your 2003 picture of V and Mo's pictures from MOA. They are not showing up on my tablet. I am catching up on her TR so I have not made it to your dismeet yet. Some pictures show up and others don't? ??

Not sure what is going on there - I rarely try to surf the dis on an app.

I am glad your restitch worked out buy YIKES on having to rip it all out. I was looking through some of my pictures of my first hand appliques and I can see why I needed an embroidery machine. LOL. I think I might be able to do better now but I doubt it. So I will continue to enjoy your work and marvel at your skills.

Yah - ripping it out was not fun, just happy it was a small portion. I hope you continue to try to learn hand applique - it's a lot of fun and really frees you from having to stick to whatever the digitizers make. :thumbsup2

Also, I used your lanyard during our entire trip to Universal. It was a life saver. They are very strict there and you can't bring any bags on their coasters and other certain rides but you can wear a lanyard. So thanks again. It was so handy and I do LOVE it.

Yay! Glad you like it. I enjoyed mine when I wore it too - they are quite handy. :lovestruc

That picture is priceless!!!!

You will do it and the bags WILL sell... if not.. I will buy them... :thumbsup2

Thanks Mo - for having so much faith in me.

i am looking forward to your auctions :)

Oh and I am going to be posting a little update on my PTR later.

Thanks Chiara... I've been watchign for your update.

Not if I get to them first. My goal is to have a Serendipi D~ bag for each day of the week. 2 down, 5 to go.

You are so funny Ariana! I am just excited to be able to start on our trip customs next week... I am so nervous about not getting them done!

Oh and I love the picture of V with Ariel. I never got to see the old Grotto. Well, it was there in 2010 but my whole group was adults and we weren't into character greets at that time.

I understand - that was the only time we ever visited that grotto too.

See that D they aren't even on auction and we are already talking bidding wars!

LOL Mo!

since its a local call for me I just got off the phone with "Mariella" at Ghiardellis

I happened to check in yesterday while I was on my break at work, and this post made me LOL Ruthie! I am so lucky to have friends that will CALL Ghiradelli for me and find out what form of payments they take. I love you - I really do. :lovestruc Sometimes I neglect to think to do the most obvious thing - which is make a phone call. :rolleyes1

I HIGHLY suggest you post your questions on the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board Cheshire Figment (Mike) will 999.99999 % of the time answer on a posted ticket thread and give you the facts put in your OP that you do not see the answers in the ticket sticky (to quote Mike "the sticky is your friend" pixiedust:

Oh I know... I don't think I have any questions - do I? I was just trying to work out my new figures with the price increase. I would definately get more bang for my buck if I could use the Military tickets, but from everything I have read (and I have read a lot about this) - whether or not you can use the military tickets back to back is really up to the CM that is there that day - and I just don't want to chance it, since there is NO way I can buy another set of tickets while we are down there. I just can't take that risk to save under $100 - and you know me, I am as thrifty as they come. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the update Tess, I am glad she is doing so much better. All of this must just be so scary for her.

Hi! Very happy to have you here... I can't remember if I have seen you post in this thread yet... It doesn't matter though - thanks so much for following along.

Thanks Sandra! I haven't decided when I am going to officially show everyone the bags - whether I am going to show them all at once, or individually... :confused3 It will be soon though - Auctions start in less than a week!

**********************************************************

I worked at Target yesterday... Enough said about that.

I was a sloth when I got home and did nothing related to sewing.

However - I did mess around a little with our 2008 and 2003 trip slideshows I did, back in the day. They were fun to watch - that's for sure!

Today, I will be back in my sewing room all day... I really want to finish up my next bag - but the last part of this applique might prove to be a bit tricky... So we will see...

I really wanted to show you an individual picture of Alli from our 2003 trip... But I just KNOW you are all dying to see my fannypack/water bottle combo... So, maybe I will try for Alli tomorrow. :lovestruc

And - on a side note... Seriously - my body is large, but check out those legs... From the knees down - they are pretty awesome! LOL :worship:

Have a wonderful day everyone and prayers going out to everyone in need. :lovestruc

OK - so I just went back and reread Cheshire Figment's post which is stickied in the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies section...

If the service member is not available the spouse or unremarried widow may purchase and/or activate up to five Tickets for family and guests (including the spouse) so without the service member present a maximum of five tickets may be purchased. The special large family rule above applies. This purchase will not prevent the service member from receiving their ticket at a later date, but this will make the service member ineligible to purchase any additional tickets. Note that the Dependent ID Card (DD Form 1173) must show a relationship of either "Spouse" or "Unremarried Widow" to be able to activate the tickets. No other relationship can purchase tickets or have previously purchased tickets activated.

Due to this rule right here, there is no way that these tickets would work for us. I would have to buy 6 tickets - but I am only allowed to buy 5 - since Josh is the service member in our family - not me.

What I *could* do - however - is purchase one set of these tickets with the WPF&M option on them... And then purchase a 3 day base ticket from Disney... Let's do a cost analysis on that...

Scenerio #1

So, as I stated yesterday, water park tickets from Disney would cost us: $175 - Target discounts = $143

Then, a 7 day base Ticket, purchased from Disney would cost us: $987.27 - 10% (Target discount) - 5% (Target Red Card discount) - 5% (Target Pharmacy Rewards discount) = 801.91

For a grand total of: $944.91

Scenerio #2

Purchasing one set of 3 Military Salute Tickets with the WPF&M option: $468 - Target Discounts = $380.13. And purchasing a 3 day base ticket from Disney (to finish off our remaining days) would cost: $837 - Target Discounts = $680

For a grand total of: $1,060

As an addendum to the above scenerio - the Military Salute ticket prices did go up - but I do not know what those new prices are, as the Sticky has not been updated. So, the above price would be a bit higher.

And for the fun of it - let's do a 3rd scenerio...

Scenerio #3

Purchasing a 7 day base ticket adding WPF&M is $1176 - Target discounts = $955.

So... Still sticking with Scenerio #1 is my best deal. However - Scenerio #3 isn't too far off, costing me only $10 more. But would we really use all the extra WPF&M options? I know that would give us the option of hitting DQ while we were at DTD, or even hopping into Typhoon Lagoon just for a couple of hours on our other off day??? But seriously - we will be there for 9 nights... We really need a dedicated "off" day... If we had all those extra options - I'd be tempted to try to use them. popcorn::

What would you do?

D~

WWYD ? I would not do the extra stuff ie DQ you'd be in there for HOURS at best I have friends that went in in 1999 and I have never seen them again...there is a black hole in there:rolleyes1 TL would you really go ? I doubt it..you have lovely pool options and a BB day..go to TL next trip

As far as the phone call :lmao: seriously it was a phone call nothing more not like I got you in to see the Pope or anything

OK tty later I am meeting a friend from the rehab days who managed to break free too and we are having breakfast at POP how cool is that :woohoo:

Exactly my thought Ruthie! That's $10 cheaper... I could buy a pin or something with that $$. :thumbsup2

Have fun today! We'd love pictures - you know that. :lovestruc

Way too confusing...
Sitting back and looking at the pretty pictures... Which you do rock the fanny pack... ;)
The girls are JUST TOO CUTE!!! Your fine the way you are...

Hi! :wave2:

I went back to my pictures they seem to still be there?!?! Thanks for reading that mess of a PTR..

If you can post about your universal experience i would love to hear? (on my report of course.. this is after all D's...) :rotfl:

Love the picture of you and the girls. They are so little....And of course you are rockin the fancy pack/water bottle. I wonder what the girls would say if you strapped that on during your trip in August.

Sounds like you have got your tickets all figured out. Your Target discounts really add up and are an even better deal then the military discount!!!! I have never been to DQ (Disney Quest, because I have been to Dairy Queen) but it doesn't appeal to me. I think I would want to leave after ten minutes, especially if it was crowded. Don't make yourselves crazy trying to squeeze in more water park time, which I am sure you would do if you had the tickets. Plus, you could always upgrade the regular Disney tickets when you are there?????

Your bags look so cool all stacked up :) Maybe show them individually and then repost as a group as a reminder right before the auction?

Hope you get to your bags soon. Looking forward to August so I can see what you create.

Sounds like Scenerio #1 for tickets looks like the best option. I don't like water parks so I would never buy tickets for that ;)

We did the WP&M option one year & only used it one day - total waste of money. Then again, the only thing at the water parks DH gets into is the lazy river types and the roller coasters (Crusher Gushers?) at TL. And I am not a video game person and DH loves team type video games, so DQ is kinda a bust for us. Now, back in the day when CheeseCake factory ran the top level eatery....I could go then just for the cheesecake.

Good luck with your own bags. I've loved the sneak picks you've posted on FB for your crazy days. Best of luck there too.

I think it might be my connection. I can see some pictures but not others. It happens for all the threads and works fine on my pc. Very strange but it is probably just my old tablet. I will try to get back to catch up on your TR soon and maybe post about our visit.

Love the picture of you and the girls.

I am very excited about your auctions.

Anxiously awaiting your auction too! I might have to try for another bag....and dh is encouraging me. This is bad.....for me, not for you... LOL

I have a new tablet and it does the same thing. If I want to make sure I can see pictures, I have to do it on pc or laptop. Phone and tablet are not consistent.
