Oh my goodness! I can't believe that MM has taken up sewing too! I think it is definitely smart to keep your sewing room door closed when you aren't in there. What a funny story! My dog is so tiny that even if she laid right on the foot pedal, I'm not sure that the machine would start sewing. But she isn't allowed in my sewing room anyhow so I will never find out.
Yah - MM is a crazy man, that's for sure! LOL that your dog is so little, hopefully she doesn't take up sewing too.
D~, I look forward to reading your updates every morning! Today, I am laughing SO hard at your story about MM laying on your sewing machine's foot pedal Thanks for starting off my day with a smile!
Always happy to start your day with a smile.
what a great Mad Max story. I love it. Glad you caught up yesterday.
Yah - I thought so too... And it's such a relief to be caught up!
Awww, how cute your DD's help with your sewing AND your fury family member! MM helps like my husband...geesh thanks.
I am so lucky to have a house full of "helpers".
Hope Disney offers a better discount so you don't have to cut down days or dining. It is good to have the budget though.
Me too... I hope that Disney's lack of promotions has kept them less than full this year so that they offer better promotions in the future.
I have a question if you don't mind... Regarding the disney gift cards purchased through Target. Does the red card discount apply to those? We don't have the red card, but I may consider it if the discount applies to Dis gc/s.
Yes, you do get the red card discount on them. Some cashiers will tell you that you don't, or that you can't, but it comes off quite nicely. So, if you get someone that tells you that you can't - ask them to try it, because it does work.

You also get the Pharmacy rewards discount on them, if you participate in that.
Oh goodness, all MM wants to do is take a nap and he's inadvertently nearly murdered Patience twice!
Exactly... Poor guy!
You'll appreciate my husband's comment the other day. I went to the commissary to do our big grocery shop for the pay period. My husband was looking at all the food and said, "There's no way all of this was within budget" and I said, actually it was $10 under and he was shocked! Gotta love the coupons!
Niiiice... Great job couponing!!!
Is MM still under there when Patience almost falls off?? Yikes....
Yes! He just lays there. The bad part about all of this, is that Patience is hardwired, so if she were to fall off my counter top - she wouldn't actually hit the ground, she would dangle there until the cords rip out of her motor - killing her forever.
It sounds like a good idea to keep the door to the sewing room shut when you're not there.
Totally agree!
We now have 4 feet and almost 8 inches of snow. There has been no more snow avalanche, but the danger is not over yet. It's still snowing here
So crazy - I cannot believe how much snow you are getting.
Love the MM story!! Sounds like something our last pet would have done. Brandy always had to be right with me, no matter where I was. I'm glad Patience cried out for help and you rescued her! Twice! Too funny!!
Yah - Poor MM, he just has to be right under foot no matter where we are... Whether, I am sewing, on the computer, making dinner, watching TV - we always have to watch where he is.
Make sure Allie is drinking plenty of water and warming up for a sufficient amount of time before doing anything in track. I used to get shin splints and that helped me a lot.
I will, and I will remind her this morning before she leaves for school.
I'll bet I have more fun at Target today than you will.
I'll bet you did too.
Love the "mystery" stories about the sewing machine and doggie. Too funny!
Yah - I figured you'd all like that one... MM is such a trouble maker sometimes.
[Congrats on getting halfway there to your Disney savings. Here's hoping the trip savings come out soon for you. I guess your dates are later in August now? I know they changed a bit and I know there was recently a code out through mid-August since I sent it to two friends planning trips for this year too.
Well, originally - this trip was going to be in October... but once I got to looking at the girls' school schedules - we were really cutting it close for how long of a trip we could take, and no matter what, they'd miss school. So, I took a look at their school calendar vs. Disney's slow seasons and came up with the end of August. Right now, we are booked for August 19-30, but we are seriously considering dropping 2 days off of this trip (to help with the budget), to make it Aug 20-29, which is still a very respectable trip at 9 nights. So, I shouldn't complain... We were quite tired after our 9 night trip last time, but we only had one day "off" in there, and it was towards the end. This time, I've scheduled 2 days off.
[I've really got to get back to updating my TRs sometime soon since I know have 2-3 more PTRs I want to do here for both 2013 and 2014!
Yes, you do, please let me know when you start them again. I need to get over to the TR section - I have not stopped there for days.
I'm so glad you were able to save Patience (and MM) from a terrible scare. It does make me feel better that T doesn't go very far into my sewing room. He does go in, though: I have a small basket of eyelash yarn for an ongoing project right inside the door. I thought I was able to leave the door open until about a week ago DH came out of the bedroom, carrying one of the balls of eyelash yarn and asking the dog "T, did you steal this?" He's stolen yarn before, but we thought it was because it was alpaca yarn...apparently he likes the fluffy type yarns - long story short: the sewing room door stays shut when I'm not in the house.
LOL - but I know how scary it is, yarn and string are so bad for animals. MM likes that sort of thing too.
LOL - DH lives in fear of my pinning things! I don't have a large enough space in the sewing room for pinning large projects (yet) so I mostly do it in the living room. He's spilled my pins, gotten poked in the head, and generally worries that someday he'll step on an overlooked pin. Poor baby. Neither he nor T actually wants to be with me while I'm sewing, but they both like to be able to see me: T lays in the bedroom door, right across from the sewing room, and DH comes in long enough to give me a kiss sometimes. Or bring me a drink.
LOL - OK, so maybe it isn't the best idea that he helps pin...
Yeah for being halfway there (better to see the glass half-full) and good for you sticking to your budget...and schedule, even if it means lunch is a little late.
Yah - I just see how much more I have to go though, and how much work I have to do to get there + how much time I DON'T have... and I get a lot freaked out.

I have a feeling that I will be up all night, every night for the 2 weeks before we leave, trying to finish our own park bags - and I have a feeling there will be no customs for any of us this time around. Which isn't the worst thing - I have a TON of great items that were Pixie Dusted to us last time around that I would love to use again.
Cute picture of MM!! Glad you were able to save Patience from a certain death!! MM must think he can sew since you and the girls can!
LOL - I think you may be right.
Great job for staying on schedule!
Thanks, sometimes it's so hard, but I feel like it's super important.
Hope that you get a discount you can use!!
Thanks! Fortunately/unfortunately - I have a pretty good discount right now (-35% room only military), but FD would be sooooo much better and it would put us right where we need to be for our budget - AND, we could keep our long trip.
MM happily snoozing below to the comforting sound of Mom's machine sewng away. He was laying on my foot pedal.
Personally I think you are ALL wrong, Here's what REALLY happened:
When no one is home he gets bored (and tired of eating the rug) so he turned on the computer and has been reading this PTR than he thought "Wait a minute W A Y back about 60 pages ago Mom said she might have to make me PANTS for when Dad takes me hunting (don't want to go through THAT again ) but now she keeps talking about some MOUSE and nothing coming from that humming thing above by head looks like MY pants
So MM pondered what to do and he came up with a plan, "I will lay under here and watch and learn" and he did Then MM practiced "pretend to be asleep" and then one night MM said to himself "They are asleep"
and he started to make his pants BUT what MM didn't count on was that his people would hear the machine and get up from
But MM heard his Mommy running to the sewing room and quickly laid down and did the "pretend sleep" figuring that he could pull it off and that knowing Mommy would get another cute picture of MM and he would be on FB and the Dis (terms MM is very familiar with) again because MM is very handsome and is very smart
So MM promises he will find a way to make his pants because he knows Mommy is very busy and MM just wants to help and he needs pants (and remember dogs are supposed to be color blind so please forgive MMs plan)
ROFL Ruthie - I think you may be right. Now MM is so upset because we are on to him.
You are a much cooler mom, mine never took me to Disney World, and I never let her forget that fact
LOL thanks~!
My grandpa is a very stubborn man
So was mine... Both of them.
Glad you had a productive day in the sewing room. That is funny that MM was laying on your foot pedal.
Yah - he's pretty crazy... We tease him that he's from the "big hair band" era... LOL He walks around all day, oblivious and his hair flailing everywhere.
Allison to take it easy, shin splints suck and you have to give them time to heal.
Yes, she is trying to - Her coaches are being good to her - so that helps.
you can work out the trip within your budge, Hoping for a great discout for you.
Thanks! I hope so too - or, at least, a better one.
One of the Ruth Triplets needs some extra prayers and thoughts sent her way
(Not sewmess and not me) Restraz (spelling sorry)
Don't know much only that she fell Monday & is in the hospital. They are trying to figure out why she fell. She is hoping to go home tomorrow. Just got text from her telling me this So with her permission I put it out here so PLEASE send love her way and when I hear from her I will update
RuthIE
Oh no!!! I sent her a message on Facebook just as soon as I saw this, this morning. Please give her my love and tell her that we are all praying for her. I hope she is able to find the answers she needs and she heals quickly.

Thank you for letting us know.
Thank you Dee.
Funny story about MM! I keep my sewing machine plugged in to an outlet strip that I turn off when I'm not sewing. No chance of one of the dogs laying on it when I'm not in the room. Not that Ringo would be able to make it run by laying on the pedal - he's only 7.5 lbs and the pedal is bigger than he is!
LOL
My dh comes in my sewing room to "visit" with me too - usually just to get a kiss and see what I'm working on. The dogs come in to see if I have any food to give them and Ringo wants to sit on my lap.
That's what I get from DH most of the time too - otherwise, I have to bring my latest project to him so he can see.

Not sure I could sew with giant MM in my lap?
My son used to get shin splints when he ran cross country - his stepmom, who is a physical therapist, told him to take ibuprofen, ice and drink lots of water. Rest is also good, giving them a chance to heal.
That is what she has been doing, but I did remind her this morning before she left.
I hope everything works out for your trip. I'm hoping the next discount to come out will be for our time frame. My parents never took me to WDW either - mainly because it didn't open until after I graduated from high school...not that they would have taken us there anyway. The only place I ever remember going on vacation when I was small was to my great aunt's farm in Virginia. After my Mom passed away, we didn't travel much at all - at least until I was older.
The next discount should be ours and I am praying it's a good one.
I didn't ever go to Disney as a child either.
Sorry to hear about Ruth - will keep her in my prayers.
Me too - thank you.
I should be asleep, but trying to keep up.
Sorry to hear about your dad. We have a lot more in common than I ever thought. I feel like I missed out on a regular dad relationship due to "special circumstances". I grew up fast and missed being a carefree kid. Probably why I love Disney so much, so I can be a kid.
Yes, it does sound like we have a lot more in common... And I agree - I think that's why I enjoy my life so much now, I get the chance to grow up through my girls' eyes, and that's why this time is so important to me.
Have you ever seen the movie I am Sam? I watched in once - when it first came out, and I was not prepared for what it would do to me... It was as if someone had taken a portion of my childhood and made a movie about it. It was just awful - things I thought I'd put behind me were right there staring me in the face. Josh didn't understand why I sat in the bathroom for the last half of the movie, bawling my eyes out. When I tried to explain to him - he got it - but it is just an awful, awful movie that I will never ever watch again. If you haven't seen it, and can handle it - I recommend. But when I watched it - I didn't realize what it was about, so it really blindsided me. They have yet to make a movie that relates to my Mom and brother - and I hope they never do.
Many hugs to you... And if you ever want to share privately - I am here. (((Hugs)))
MM is soooo cute! If only he could stay out of trouble. I like luvchefmic's sewing pants escapade story. My golden retriever is 2. Still very much a puppy. I keep saying she will be a great dog in a few years after she learns to behave. She eats any strange nonedible thing she can find, last time it was a piece of elastic. Uggg.
LOL - I agree... MM's favorite non-food item is dirty socks... He has perpetually foul breath, because he is always chewing on someone's, and no matter what we do to keep them from him - he still finds them.

I agree - he will be a great dog when he grows up, but I think we have a few more puppy years ahead of us.
Thank you - me too!

I had a boring day at Target yesterday... I had to set a few salesplans (endcaps) - which makes my day go by really fast - even though I dread doing them.
My neighbor and I did a few laps around town with our dogs - she has a Rodesian Ridgeback - who Josh alway calls "the horse" - which kind of made us LOL, because Keyka is a big dog... But when her and MM were walking side by side yesterday - they are the exact same size - Keyka is just a bit more wide. So, Josh can't call her a horse anymore.
We had leftovers for dinner last night... So, I didn't have to cook.

Trip stuff:
I checked airfare yesterday morning, and it dropped considerably, but not quite enough for me to book. It's been at $410/per person round trip for about a month now. Yesterday, it dropped to $316. I am holding out for -$200.
I am a bit nervous about booking airfare with out Disney codes released for our time frame - so that is why I am holding out for a better fare. Because once I book airfare, I am locked into those dates.
If airfare drops, before codes are released - I will be forced to choose our shorter trip, because that will be the one I know I can pay for. But I will be so bummed if I choose the shorter trip, and the codes that come out are great - then we could have gone for a longer trip. Oh well. I guess I will decide when I need to.

If you all could say a few prayers for Ruth - Ruthie posted yesterday, in case you missed it, that she had fallen and was in the hospital. They are looking for the reason why she fell.
I plan to spend the day in my sewing room today. I hope to finish up my current bag set (it will be close), and then I hope to go back to last week's bag.
I hope you all have a wonderful day today.
