~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I wish I lived near by so I could help with the animals. I hope someone nearby can help. Sending good vibs.

In my previous life I was a Workers Comp underwriter. She NEEDS TO GET AN ATTORNEY! Regardless of how well her employer treats her, the insurance company is NOT there to help HER...but to protect THEIR bottom line!

I have sat in on a claims situation where the adjuster wanted to just wait...because he was sure the worker would die and then their liability would be less. NO LIE!

First I want to say a few things:
The compassion prayers and good thoughts have touched me more than I will ever be able to express It would be a pleasure and an honor to meet each and every
one of you and tell you that in person no hugs though ouch ouch ouch
Bless you all

But now I request that this goes back to being D's PTR for WDW while I am so glad that D and Ruth told you all the goal was accomplished as far as getting on to your pray lists I do have other needs & that is for physical help re-animals
There have been some good ideas passed on to me but there are not many resources out here in Polk County FL very poor community

If anyone would like to keep in touch just to say hi or brainstorms any ideas please D or Ruth pass my phone number along Love you all

Nini I appreciate your taking the time to post re-workers comp but am confused perhaps its my pain meds but sounds like you are relaying a scenario where they were fighting a claim or trying to deny it ? like I said confused not sure how it applies to my situation :confused3

Not really fighting or denying a claim...just working it to their advantage. I have personally seen adjusters purposely lie to the injured or their family about coverages they are afforded by law. Just because you have a llawyer involved doesn't mean you are suing...just means there is someone looking out for YOUR best interests.

A lot is happening at your side of the world. I hope Alli decides to go to the police. Even if she doesn't get her jacket back hopefully the girl will get a lesson.

How great that you got the DIS meet together.

It's so nice of you wanting to help RuthIE. I hope she gets someone to look after the animals.

Saving 30% in the grocery store is great. Better to save something than nothing :)

Have a wonderful weekend :goodvibes

Thanks Lillian. I love doing Dismeets - they are so much fun... I love doing them more at WDW - but I will take what I can get. :thumbsup2

I agree about RuthIE... Sending prayers out to her.

Yes, it was awesome to save so much on our grocery bill... I hope to do it again.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend too... Only a few more days! WHOOT!

When Sara's coat was stolen, she was little and it wasn't a super expensive coat but it also wasn't something we had planned to replace. Luckily for us it was about this time of year so I found another on a good clearance sale. It was like six months later when I saw the kid's younger sister wearing the first coat. And while I was still upset about it, I didn't say anything because the family that had it was a family that was struggling financially and the father had been hospitalized/lost his job. The school had done a food and clothing drive to help the family. I figured that Sara's coat may just have gotten mixed up in the clothing drive somehow. It was supposed to be a secret about who the food and clothing drive was for, but it was one of those things where everybody knows. Either way, that was a situation where the family really needed the coat. So in that way it is very different than what happened with Alli's coat. Alli's coat was taken because some girl saw the chance to take something valuable and attractive without having to work hard for it.

I agree - two totally different situations... And in your situation, I would be able to let it go so much easier.

I hope that you can get the police to do something because I agree that it is absolutely clear that the girls stole the Uggs at the very least. If you got them back or not, it shouldn't matter. All that matter is that the girls tried to take them and there are pictures of of her with them. At the very least, it might be a wake up call for this girl. Right now she thinks she has gotten away with stealing the coat. That really stinks

I also hope that the police are able to do something.

I'm glad that my Hollister tip helped you. I went to a third Hollister yesterday and bought a few more things for my girls. And most of it is summer stuff. And even funnier, I have my MIL going to a Hollister down in Florida to look for a jacket that we couldn't find in the right size up here. We saw it in two of the stores up here but it was too small and Sara really wants one for her trip to Europe. Luckily my MIL loves to go shopping and doesn't care if she is shopping for herself or for somebody else.

That is awesome! Yah - it's so great to be able to get Hollister clothes for my girls for less than what I would pay at Target on clearance... and waaay better quality too.

Sounds like you did great at the grocery stores yesterday. I've never gotten 40% off my grocery bill and your deal on the popcorn and sodas was awesome. Sounds like you'll need to do a movie night.

It was fun... I just have to make a point of going earlier in the day, I don't like having a lot of people and fighting the crowds while I am trying to figure out my coupons.

I hope that V can finish her lanyards and that you get your sewing done.

I hope so too. :thumbsup2

Just an FYI....you can get Gutermann much much cheaper at http://www.wawak.com/products/category.cfm/cid/105/Thread/

Join their mailing list and they send you a coupon with their catalog that is good for $10 off your first order. And they send out monthly specials and every few months Guterman is on sale.

They also have fantastic prices on zippers.

Thank you so much for the tip! :) I did go and bookmark that site. I still need to join their mailing list though.

My name is Terry. I'm not sure if I ever posted it or not. Though I might have used Tess - which is what all my quilting friends know me by!

So, which would you prefer that I remember - Terry? Or Tess? :thumbsup2

hope the school will do some sort of repremand to the girl, so not right!

sounds like you had a fun day of shopping! and got some great deals!!!

I know... I am still really frustrated about it.

Shopping was a lot of fun - it always is.

A DIS meet! What fun. And she looks thrilled with her bag! If I ever talk hubby into a trip to MOA, I'll for sure see if we can do a meet.

Yes! YOu better! I would love to meet up with you!

I agree that the police need to be involved if Ali is comfortable with it. I think it's a good idea to let her make that call, even though as mother bears, we want to do it for them and try to make everything better. I honestly believe that everything Ali has had to go through this year will make her an even stronger individual and will serve her throughout life. You've got a great girl there who is learning to face the unpleasant part of life and not only survive but thrive. Good for her and good for you for allowing that!

Yes, it has been a rough year for her, many situations have come about that I have tried to protect her from. It's very sad, but there is only so much I can do... And some point I need to let go a little bit and let her make some of these decisions. She is a very good girl who makes mostly good choices - I am very proud of both my girls.

My DD is amazing with coupons. I used them when the kids were all home, but don't use them much any more. I should do it, but just don't take the time. I think saving 30% on groceries is awesome. And the pop corn/soda savings...WOW!

I used to coupon quite a bit - not "crazy coupon" but a few good deals. But once I started making bags - I just don't have the time to do all of the reasearch anymore. This is something that my BFF just stumbled into - I've tried to get her to use them previously, and she never did, but once she lost her job, she was forced to live a lot differently. As it turns out - she is very good at couponing and she has been nice enough to help me out, as well.

Thanks for the heads up on BAth and Body Works. I always stock up on their hand soap when they are on sale. Guess I'll be going there today!

I hope you got there. I did quite a few of the $3 soaps... but then they had some of the Holiday ones left too that were $1.30 each... So I grabbed like 5 of those too... So, I should be set. :thumbsup2

I just got a new desk for my sewing room. I had been using my youngest DD's desk from her room, but now that she has a home, she wanted it. I like to use a desk because I like to have a center drawer. It's just a thing for me. DH wanted to built something for me with countertops etc., but I wanted the desk. What can I say. It's whatever each person is comfortable with I guess. Long story short to say I am hoping to get down there today to get back to some projects. You really do inspire me on a daily basis!

Cool! Are you going to show us pictures??? I would love to see your sewing space! And I hope you were able to get some work done on it. :thumbsup2

As far as RuthIE is concerned, I was wondering if she belongs to a church where they would be able to help her out with whatever is needed. If she doesn't belong to a church, there may be one in her area that does helpful things as an outreach to their community. DH and I are part of this type of group in our church. When we are made aware of a need in the community, we go into action with whatever needs done. It's sometimes so hard to ask for help when we really need it. I feel RuthIE would be the first to help others when she could, so I really hope she find someone to help her through this time.

I hope so too... I know this has been so hard on her. I also feel like she has worked so many avenues - that something has to work out in her favor.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the baby quilt!

I cannot believe that the the school is not going to reprimand the theif! It would be one thing if they did not have SECURITY TAPES of her with Alli's property on her body, but they do! At my son's school, that student would have been expelled (or at least suspended) had that happenned! (but then again it was not a public school, and they had a school policy that stated the consequences and they actually held the students to them!) I have a BIG problem with kids not being held responsible for their actions. By them not doing anything about it, they are telling her it is okay and she is getting ready for a life of crime. And I am with you...if it were MY child and I saw this happenning, I would probably be going a little ballistic on him...but then again, I know there are so many parents out there that are afraid to or are unwilling (lazy) to "parent" their children.

Sorry for the rant...just really ticks me off when I hear stuff like that...

Lynn

Thanks Lynn! I totally agree - it really makes me mad too. And it's so frustrating that even though they have her caught red handed, they are just taking her word for it.

I wish we lived close by (22 hours by car - we tried). We love dogs and my daughter would pay to take care of a horse! She's been riding since she was 3. Prayers to Ruthie that someone can help soon.

I know, me too - I am probably just as far as you are.

I wish I lived near by so I could help with the animals. I hope someone nearby can help. Sending good vibs.

We know that you are as far away as you can get Lillian. ::yes:: I am sure that RuthIE appreciates your good thoughts.

Hi RuthIE!!! Glad to see you were able to get on The Dis!

I hope and pray that today goes much better for you and you are able to get some answers and help that you are needing so badly. (((Hugs)))

Thanks Nini for taking the time to type this out for RuthIE, I hope she sees it.

**********************************************************

I plan to call the police today about Alli's jacket. She told me that she wants to persue this. I told her that we do not expect to get her jacket back, but we would like to at least teach this girl a lesson - that stealing is NOT OK. I will keep you updated.

**********************************************************

Yesterday was a lazy day at home.

I locked myself in my sewing room for a few hours to work on some cute baby stuff again. It was so much fun to have the extra time last week to get some of this done. But now it's back to bag making today. I will post pictures in another post, so I can link to them in my Table of Contents. :thumbsup2

Otherwise, once I forced myself out of my sewing room, much later than I would like to on a weekend, I hung out on the computer looking at more baby ideas... LOL I need to STOP! Seriously!

I hope you all have a wonderful day today! :wizard:

I am not sure that I love this pattern? It's cute - for sure, but I just discovered last night that Oliver and S has a dress pattern that is also a romper - and I even think that I own it. LOL So, I think that the next romper I make will be the O&S one - as those patterns are just the best!

Anyways... Here's the one I made... I did a few things differently.

First of all - I made the pattern out of flannel rather than cotton. Since the baby will be living in a colder climate, it will be warmer in the flannel. Also, the pattern was for a shorts romper, I extended it into pants. Then, I didn't like the way they constructed their pockets, so I used their pattern piece for the pockets, but I cut an extra one of each and constructed them my way, so they are fully lined - then I added the ribbon accent.

My only real big disappointment is that it appears that these are much bigger than the 3-6 month size I was going for... In all honesty - they look like they could be a 12-18 month or larger? I guess they are better to be too big than too small. Sigh. When I go to look for a Tee to go under them, I will bring them with to compare them to other sizes to make sure I am getting the right coordinating size.

Good for Alli for going forward with contacting the Police! :thumbsup2

I wish I lived closer to RuthIE. I have a whole group of animal people here in GA that would spring into action to help her. Unfortunately I don't have any resources in FL. I hope she is able to find the help she needs.

The baby romper is very cute and I love both of the GAC pouches. I hope they do well in the auction tomorrow.

Cover alls ( rompers) were my favorite thing to dress my baby boys in!! Boy that has been a long time! The ones you made are adorable! That is a very lucky baby!
I sure hope you get some answers on Ally's coat?? Some kids really need a wake up call! Earlier rather than later.

RuthIE is still in a lot of pain! I too hope she gets some answers and help today. She has a beautiful horse that needs some care she can't give her right now.

Your launch items are wonderful!! Everyone have a great day! Ruth

Love the cute romper! You will be the BEST AUNT EVER!!! Okay, I am out of some kind of loop or something. I cannot figure out what the red S is on the MK GAC pouch... :confused3

The new interactive game at Magic Kingdom...Sorcerers of Magic Kingdom (I think that is the name..)

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a DIS Meet at the Disney Store. :goodvibes

Great deal at the store on the tank tops.

Love the GAC gag with the ice cream cone...absolutely adorable.

I think you and Alli are doing the right thing by going to the police. That young lady needs to be taught a lesson.

Hi...just read through the last 10 pages. I have been clicking on your PTR and it would always show just one page. So I thought that was as far as you had goten...only today did I realize that I had to click on the right side of the screen for the thread.... My daughter would be :lmao: because she laughs when I can't figure out something on the computer.

Anyway, now I can really keep up with your planned trip. LOVE the clothes and blanket for your nephew.

Sheila

If the pants are too big for the baby it just means that the baby can use them longer while it grows :)

I LOVE the MK GAC Pouch set. I just love EVERYTHING about it. :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

I just wanted to do a quick update...

Alli just texted me, she just finished meeting up with the 2 principals and one other person (not sure who, need to look it up) and she thinks they may have found some info...

Please keep your fingers crossed for her... This really isn't about her jacket any more (although that would be nice) - it's more about her feeling like she has some control.

Thank you everyone. :)

D~

D can u point me in the direction of the pink Mickey fabric you used? Looks perfect for vs treat dress that I have planned for our trip.

I hope that the girl & her parents will know that it was Alli's decision. Peer "review" is better than "person of authority" at that age.

And I am in AWE of that MK applique. One day, I will do an applique that awesome. And free-hand embroidery like that.

The great thing about babies is, they are always growing. So he may not be able to fit in them his first couple of months, but there'll be months after that!

Side note for/about RuthIE - does her county have a 4-H association? or an FFA? They might have a program for some of their kids to help her out - especially with the horse. -I know I'm a little late for that party.

hope that the coat issue will be taken care of!

the romper and GAC holders are cute...love the fabrics!
