D~ your flannel fabrics are very nice and very appropriate for a little boy! One suggestion I have is to wash your fabrics and dry them in the dryer before you cut out anything. Flannel tends to shrink - a lot, and if you wash and dry it first, most of the shrinkage should occur then. Some quilters will wash flannel twice before they cut it out.

I'm still flip-flopping myself on when I want to go for our next trip - either September (which I love) or December to see the Christmas decorations. We've been in February before and the weather was fine while we were there, but not quite warm enough for me to go swimming.

I loved the Daisy, Tigger and Eeyore bags. I'll have to keep an eye out for the Feb auction.

We have gone twice in August beginning and end. Honestly I do not recall the heat so much as the rain, torrential downpours and my frizzy hair.

The BB offer was for FD and changed to Room Discount while we were there but I did not find that out until after I returned home since we missed Mousekeeping the the day it changed and the day after as we ended up sick in our room and never received the new offer

Bob agreed to stay at Poly next trip so I definately need to get some kind of deal, fingers crossed

With bounce backs...timing is everything!

We arrived in November where the bounceback was a % off room only in January...then when we left in December, the bounce back was completely non existent! As in there was none, zip, nada!

Disney was in the middle of revamping their reservation system and since you could not make a reservation, they decided to go with no bounceback. Two days after we left...the bounce back offer was for free dining during the same Nov/Dec time frame for 2013.

Needless to say I was very angry! I tried to convince Disney they needed to let me have the bounceback...but no dice. But, for the past 4 years, the bounce back during late fall has been free dining for late fall.

So, now I get to worry that free dining won't be offered...or that military rates won't be extended.

Thanks for the tip - I always wash and dry my fabrics before I use them - but I will be sure to wash and dry the flannel an extra time or two - I don't think I have ever worked with flannel before?

I just have to say...I popped on here breifly yesterday and congratulating you on the "It's a BOY!" that I thought...HOLY COW...HOW DID I MISS THAT D~ WAS PREGNANT!!!needless to say I backed up and read that you were expecting a nephew! Congrats!

Well, my latest order went out in the mail yesterday... Phew... Now, let's hope it gets there before they leave for their trip.

After I came home from V's appt yesterday, I just wasn't sure what to do with myself? So, I sat on Facebook for a little bit, and I realized that the next Main Street Boutiques Launch is coming up on Feb 5th... Hmmm.... I have just enough time to throw something together. So, I began work in my sewing room... Gotta pay for this trip some how... Right? It's really cool - and I hope you all love it.

Trip stuff...

So, what if the girls and I compromise? They want to do 11 nights, I want to do 9... What if we did 10? It still gives me some savings - we can do ONE water park, instead of none.

It's a thought... No final decisions will be made until Disney releases their discounts, but it's an option.

It's just so hard because there are our "must dos"... MK two full days, AK two full days, DHS one day, Epcot one day, 2 days off... That makes 8 full park days... So, that right there is our shortest trip. Throw in the water parks... Then we are at 10 full days. And the sad part, is each time we go - our must dos get longer, rather than shorter.

Sigh.

Oh you silly woman, wearing a poncho in 90+ degree heat and 100% humidity? Now that's hot...literally. Just plan on the daily thunderstorm to cool things off a bit. Typically they occur when my ds is at football practice, sometime between 4 and 6pm.

Bounce backs are definitely cyclic. Some run a week (like Saturday to Saturday) some are for longer periods, like 30 days or such. I always check the bounce back on the day we arrive and the day we leave... We frequently get a different one....

The only times I have never heard of a bounce back is ehn the system is expected to go down for maintenance...

Flannel is very heavy when used in a quilt. If you plan to back it with flannel too, you really don't need a batting. I made a few flannel raggy quilts and did not line them. Those babies are heavy!

Do you know what type of pattern you plan to use? 9 patch blocks are easy and go together quickly - also easy to tie.

Great.... You just gave me a scary visual. Hmmm... I think between 4 & 6 works well with our schedules... How long do they normally last? Because that ALL DAY TORRENTIAL RAIN STORM on our Epcot day last year really sucked.

Thanks for all the compliments... Gotta love my goofy photos - she captured my personality quite well. And I like to think my girls are talented - there is more artistic talent in our family than I realized - I never thought much of it until V's art teacher said something at our last conferences (she has Alli last year)... Then I gave it a bit of thought... And I guess I would have to agree - that if we all share a similar talent, it's our way of viewing the world.

I was going to do a raggy quilt, but then I found an adorable and EASY tutorial for a quilt... Since I have NO available time to make this said quilt - I think this tutorial is just perfect, I am pretty sure I could whip it up in a day or two... Nothing exciting or fun happened at all yesterday...

I had to work at Target all day... It was super boring, I stood in the same spot all day, and really did nothing. Those are the hardest days for me - because I know I have SOOOO MUCH to do at home, it always feels like a waste to just go stand there for 6 hours.

Then, I came home and made dinner, did some dishes, laid down on the couch after dinner because I had a stupid headache behind my right eye - and I went to bed at about 7pm and out cold all night long.

Today, I plan to finish up my Launch items - yes, I have grandios plans for 2 Launch sets.

Then... The baby flannel fabric started drifting in last night - so I hope to start washing that today, and maybe get a few things done for the little guy this weekend too.

Congrats on being an aunt to a new baby boy. I love your fabric choices and the colors are great. I was thinking that you might be able to make one of those covers that goes over the baby carrier/car seat. Took me a while to get caught up with your TR. It's a happening place! First of all, congratulations on the nephew on his way!!! Such fun. The flannel you picked is so cute. For me, it's harder to find cute things for a boy and still be boyish. Those are perfect.

My week has gone fast as well. One of our DDs came on Monday and will be here until this coming Sunday. She's the one with a 4 month old and a soon to be 4 year old. We've been having lots of fun, but our DD has a cold and she shared it with me, so yesterday was a total jammies/movies/play with Charlotte day.

If you are planning to get rip insurance. Oh, I mean trip insurance, I would not get it with Disney. There are other trip insurances out there that are less expensive and cover more things. I have been reading up on it. I have always gotten it through Disney myself, but next trip I'm going to look into other companies. I'm sure there's all kinds of info right here on the DIS if you're interested. Someone suggested Googling trip insurance.

I would hate to see you cut your trip short since you've got it all planned out. I do understand paying cash as you go. That, IMO, is the only way to go. But I think the free dining will come about for the last of August through September. I know you have to make plans as though it won't, but can you keep it as is until it gets to your pay off date to see if something comes up around then? I know you have your heart set on the royal rooms, but that would be a savings if you could bring yourself to do a regular room. Of course the location is so perfect...see, I can't even make my mind up and it's not my trip!!! Don't forget to check once in a while for pin codes. Also, if you know you're going back for the Sweet 16, you could check if there are AP holders discounts. I got a 40% off room rate with my AP for Sept of 2011. Here I am, spending more of your money!

Glad you got your latest order in the mail. I'm sure the recipient will love it...whatever it is! Can't wait to see it! Sorry it was so slow at Target. I always hated those days too. We have been wanting to get to Target all week, but with being sick and the temps in single digits, we've sort of burrowed in.

I like that one so much more than the other one. It will be a breeze for you since you're used to quilting those straight lines. How DO you keep your lines so straight??? It will take more time, but the result will be fantastic. I may even have to do one or two of them!

Quick thought....if you are going to do the chenille check out the tutorial BEFORE you wash the flannel....I have never made one, but the one I saw said to not wash the flannel first...it will make the chenille look so much better!

I have to say that I'm not real crazy about the first blanket, but I love the chenille blanket. I've never done chenille myself, but it doesn't look like its all that complicated to do. Might take some time to sew all the straight lines though. The tutorial calls for cotton on the front, but you could still use your flannel print.


the first blanket doesn't have any stitching to hold the 2 pieces of fabric together other than the stitching on the rick rack. Not sure that will hold up all that well once its washed a few times. You can substitute any type of trim for the rick rack, including ribbon.

Congrats on having a DH who can help with the taxes (it's not that mine doesn't want to, he seems to have the touch of death when it comes to the IRS. He once had to pay an additional $200 for overpaying by 40 cents.)

Looove the chenile baby quilt idea. I have a coworker who is due in May and if I want to actually give her something, I should start working on it.

I always put the trip on our Disney card, but pay it off with monies set aside. DH always used to pay off his trips before going, so he has that history. & we always use cash during the actual trip, except for gas.

I am slowly working sewing back into the routine with a long term project I've had going for about a year or so. Hopefully by Easter, I should be back on a regular sewing schedule.

Coming from a creative family, Alli may not sew, but she definately has the creative touch with her photography. Among me and my 4 sisters we sew, bead, weave, knit, crochet, cross stitch, sculpt, sing, play various musical instruments and we're always picking up new ways to be creative. So if V sews and Alli takes the pictures, they'll be able to create a fabulous webstore!

And in the very wise words of RuthIE; Planning should not be stressful.
