~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I think its a great idea and can't wait to see what you're going to post.
I was secretly hoping you were drafting your pattern and would be offering it for sale.

 Love the Donald Bag and I can't wait to see you SSP

I think I know where you might be staying because I did see a page you liked on your FB page but still not completely sure:confused3

:offtopic:
I am having my own trip dilemma for April :scared1: We originally were going to drive down for April, but that would give us only 5 days at Disney.:sad2: SW released their flights on Monday and it would be $4500 for the 5 of us R/T:scared1:

However if we drive to Long Island we can get our SW flights for $1598 so that is what we are doing:rolleyes1 4hr drive to save lots of $$$$$

But now I can't get a DVC rental at WL for the whole week:sad: So I might have to do a split stay at OKW & VWL:confused3

I Love reading your updates! I have an idea in where your thinking of staying and it's because of the way your trip days fall...
Congrats on your Auction that is WONDERFUL and totally deserved.

Thanks Mo! :thumbsup2

I know for sure that I can't tell you where I am staying, seeing as - if we do end up staying there for a portion of our trip, I won't book it until some sort of code is released. So, until then - our entire trip will be at FQ. :thumbsup2

I just wish my mind would quit changing my plans. :rolleyes1

I plan to book by the end of the year - and I think that once I do the initial booking, I will be much less inclined to change my mind so much. LOL

I love the Donald bag. He's my husbands favorite but I'm not sure I could get him to carry one of your bags. :rotfl:

I think I know the theme of the bag you are working on now! :rolleyes1

Thanks!!! And LOL! :thumbsup2

LOVE the idea!!!

Very cool idea.

Glad you all are liking my SSP idea... Just wait until I finish this last bag set - then I will start doing sneak peeks... You should see all the bags and items hanging on my sewing room door right now... :crazy2:

Love the SSP:yay: Now I need to start that new facebook account so all of my facebook friends don't get notices everytime I bid I will pm you my new name when I get it going!

Monica

Yes, you do Monica. LOL

I think its a great idea and can't wait to see what you're going to post.
I was secretly hoping you were drafting your pattern and would be offering it for sale.

I am still working on drafing my pattern, but not nearly as diligently because this SSP has kind of taken a front row seat in my life. I hope to get back to work on it once this is all finished.

see, you're going to make join Facebook yet. . .

You can join Facebook and be anonymous. :thumbsup2

Love the Donald Bag and I can't wait to see you SSP

I think I know where you might be staying because I did see a page you liked on your FB page but still not completely sure

Glad you are looking forward to the SSP. :) I cannot believe what stalkers you all are! LOL I cannot believe how much fights would cost you at your home airport - that is outrageous! Glad you were able to find better flights though. And such a bummer that you are going to have to do a resort switch... I think it will be fun though. :thumbsup2

I have nothing exciting going on...

I worked ALL day in my sewing room yesterday, and the whole time I was appliqueing - these took me much longer than I anticipated, mostly because there were lots of little stretches of starting and stopping, and because of my new LCM embroidery thread being a bit slippery - I hand tie at the end of each run, so it takes a bit longer, but insures that my hand applique doesn't unravel.

Speaking of which... When I was doing my recent Donald bag, I took a picture of the back... I remember growing up, and my foster-Mom teaching me how to cross stitch, she always taught me that my backs should look just as nice as my fronts, and if they didn't... Well, they should. So, I feel the same way about my hand appliques - my backs should always look as nice as the fronts, to prove that - I took a picture:

So, today, I plan on working on assembly. I hope to have the bag completely finished by lunch time, and hope to start working on the wallet. If all goes well, I hope to be entirely done with this set today. :thumbsup2 I doubt pictures will get posted until tomorrow though.

Once I finish this custom order, I will go back to working on my SSP - I still have a lot to finish, even though I have made the anouncement on FB.

Not to mention, I still have to take pictures and get all my auctions written up - which will be crazy! I hope to have all of them done by the end of next week. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure I will still be working on SSP items right up until the last possbile minute... :crazy2:

I hope everyone has a marvelous day today!

I forgot to tell you all this morning...

When the girls and I had our planning meeting the other morning - I discovered something interesting...

The only thing that V really wants to do this trip is dine at CRT - ACK... So, I told her the only way I would let her do that is if she came up with a way to pay for the whole meal herself (tightwad anyone?)... But the more I think about it, and feel like the meanest mom ever... If this is her only real desire - and something we have never done, because I've never wanted to pay for it. I think I would like to add this into our plans for the trip...

Off to the WDW website to find out prices - I am pretty sure that a meal for the 3 of us at CRT will cost us as much as a night at our resort... Sigh.

D~

We LOVE CRT. We have tried it at lunch and dinner... Both are great and the interaction was pretty good as well. I know some people feel like it is rushed, but we never felt that way.

We now do CRT every other trip. Oddly, it is the guys that request it!

About the backs...my grandmother was a professional seamstress. She made custom wedding dresses for a local department store in the 40's (before my time!), 50's and 60's. The one thing she always said...she always would turn the garment right side out. If it didn't look good enough to wear then it didn't survive the ripper! She also taught me to hand embroider....same thing. I spent more time ripping than actually sewing!

Nini

CRT is really a fun place to eat! Love being in the castle! What a magical place! We've done it twice and had a great time both times!

Michelle we are flying out of there on Christmas our first time flying southwest. It is about an hour from my house I live 10 minutes from LGA and JFK I am flyying for 1100 at Christmas. I have heard great things about McArthur.

Just check it might be easier for you to take the Ferry from CT though I am not sure how it runs.

rub it in why don't you!

LOL, someone made a comment about you yesterday on the disbou thread. I thought it was funny!

The only thing that V really wants to do this trip is dine at CRT - ACK... So, I told her the only way I would let her do that is if she came up with a way to pay for the whole meal herself (tightwad anyone?)... Maybe go halvsies? or what about her selling some bows or something else she makes to come up with some of the money.

Honestly, I DON'T think you are a bad mom for not wanting to pay for something like that. I think our kiddos learn a lot when they have to work to come up with the money for their own fun.

Enjoy your day sewing!

We ate CRT for breakfast and the stuffed French toast is very good. We all loved this character meal the best! We had pre RD ADR, and got out in time to be one of the first on peter pan. We got a ton of rides done in fantasy land that morning cause we were right there. Well worth it for us and we will go again.

Well, at least you have help... I guess it could be worse. And it won't be long and your girls will be helping you too.

I just have to say it again - the dress you posted on FB yesterday is just precious! I love everything about the pattern you used and the fabrics you chose - just adorable! Who is getting that dress?

But after that, we did a little bit of Christmas shopping... I've been looking for a warm winter coat for my dad for ages (it seems), but he is hard to shop for because he is a larger/short man. So, we stopped at a store that someone mentioned on FB, and I was so happy to find him a NICE WARM winter coat at a reasonable price. Such a reasonable price that I might go back and buy him a second coat (wool) for church. :wizard: I would also like to get him some nice clothes for church - I know his current ones have seen better days. We will see if our budget allows.
D~
My younger daughter has actually started to be a HUGE help at Thanksgiving and other events. At Yom Kippur my friend was sick and so was DH. Meredith spent most of the day in the kitchen with me, helping me make everything. Then both girls stayed up late helping me clean up after the party. We had about 40 people here that night. My autistic nephew always leaves a HUGE mess behind. The little guy gets into everything even though my sister watches him constantly.

I made the farm dress and the Pooh dress for my little niece. I did put them up on my FB fan page. If I sell them, I will just make her something different. What she doesn't know won't hurt her. LOL! She loves Pooh though and she calls him "Winnie the Poop" which cracks me up!

I also wanted to tell you that I order a lot of clothes for my Pooh sized husband from a place called King Sized Direct. I've been very happy with their prices and quality. DH is average height but has very short legs so finding pants that fit him is hard. They have great sales on their website.

We've done CRT for breakfast twice and we've done the Princess Dinner at Akershus (did I spell that right???) once. We have to say that we enjoyed the Princess Dinner at Akershus more and we liked the food better too. Not to say that we didn't like CRT but it is so expensive! Maybe getting V to pay for half isn't such a bad idea. It might mean more to her if she did that.

I can't help on CRT as we've never been. With two boys, they never wanted to be caught dead in a castle with princesses (I'm sure when they got older and stopped going with us they would have thought differently). Mark and I have read only "fair" reviews of the food, so we have continued to skip it.

Chiming in about CRT! We are actually eating there next month. It will be DH and I's second time and our kids first. I really don't remember anything about the food because it was 10 years ago but I do remember we had a great time. I can give you a review of the food after our trip next month.

We love CRT but it is expensive and have only dined their when we had the dining plan. We have done lunch once and dinner 3 times and there is just something magical about eating in the castle :cloud9:

:goodvibes So pretty!

You will have to let me know how you like the airport. I also found a site about reserving a parking spot through one of the hotels and it seems really inexpensive. I love my airport because it is 5 minutes from my house but if I can save almost $3000 it is worth it.:rolleyes1

We thought of taking the ferry, but it is still an hour and half on the boat and the cost is about $120:sad2: with the car and all of us. So I think we will just drive real early in the morning.

SW released their flights on Monday and it would be $4500 for the 5 of us R/T

However if we drive to Long Island we can get our SW flights for $1598 so that is what we are doing. 4hr drive to save lots of $$$$$

How close are you to MHT (Manchester)? SW is really cheap from there to MCO. We are 2 1/2 hours away from MHT, but we always drive down because it is so much cheaper than Portland. And it's so much better than the Boston traffic.

D~....CRT would be a really neat experience. And if V pays for it, then I say go for it. Would you do breakfast or dinner? Breakfast is cheaper...right?

At the hospital banished to the waiting room for bit; however, had to post this about CRT...ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY for our Breakfast! (and I am the Queen of no money) I would LOVE to do it again. Probably never will; however, I would in a heartbeat! READ HERE for specifics. Great character interactions with the girls and guys (Jasmine only had eyes for my guys, see the pics :rolleyes1). We definitely had plenty to eat (don't forget it is all you can eat) and we had a late breakfast and didn't need lunch! Plus you have to prepay (with Disney gift cards is fine), so you will not even have to worry about it on the trip. :thumbsup2 Maybe it could be V's Christmas present??? Lisa B made gorgeous invitations for me to give the girls to "announce" breakfast. The entire experience was MAGICAL!

SUNSHINE As the proud owner of a LOT of your things (and my girls have skirts COVERED in your appliques), your "back work" IS just as beautiful as D's!

Now my sister wants her computer back...

Plus you have to prepay (with Disney gift cards is fine), so you will not even have to worry about it on the trip. :thumbsup2 Maybe it could be V's Christmas present???
Good idea about it being a Christmas present. D said earlier that she was a bit stumped about what to get for V. The only thing is that is a long time between Christmas and an October trip to Disney.

my dream is to own my own Dog training facility... But first MOVE OUT OF CHICAGO!!! :dance3:
Based on your signature I just wanted to double check - do you have triplets????

Love the SSP:yay: Now I need to start that new facebook account so all of my facebook friends don't get notices everytime I bid:crazy2: I will pm you my new name when I get it going!

That price savings on flights is amazing!!! So worth the drive and with SW - you can check two bags for free per person. Comes in handy for all those customs!

LOVE the Mickey and Donald bags. Is it funny to say that the bucket is perfect??? I'm happy that you did so well on your auction. I have to say that if I ever need to hire a private investigator then I will check on the DIS first. Everyone is intent on figuring out where you are staying. I will wait patiently....:coffee:

I am not surprised to see that the back of your appliques look as good as the front. Thanks for sharing and that is a good idea to tie the threads. I would not want all your beautiful work to "fall" apart.

Do you have to work black Friday this year? Is Target opening on Thursday again this year? I sure hope not.

So you and Josh are "postponing" your trip in lieu of buying Christmas gift for your kids? I would say that doesn't qualify you for being a mean mom.

As for CRT, I have never been to CRT. I am going to go there with my brother and his family. My brother said, oh $350 for dinner - what a bargain. You might want to figure that meal into your calculations if you do the Dining Plan since that is 2 credits.

Glad MM is doing better but for some reason I can not get the visual of a group of hunting dogs wearing boxer shorts out of my head.

Thanks for the CRT opinion... It's just a lot of cash, and I will have to figure out when to fit it into our schedule.

I agree with the whole "back" thing... And yes, I spend my fair share of time ripping seams - less now than at first though.

CRT is really a fun place to eat! Love being in the castle! What a magical place! We've done it twice and had a great time both times!

Thanks Ruth! I hope you are doing well?

rub it in why don't you!

Sorry - wasn't trying to rub it in... I am sure that yours (and everyone's) are beautiful too. :thumbsup2

I did love the comment on the Disbou thread - I hadn't been there in a few days, so I didn't see it - it was a good opportunity to get over there and get caught up.

I love the halvsies idea... I think it's much more reasonable, and obtainable. Somtimes I think in "all or nothing" terms, and I forget there are other ways of doing things.

I am definately thinking that breakfast is the meal we are doing. The only thing I don't like is that I am not finding any good prices... I find a price scale - but I have no idea where in the scale we fall, so I just go with the most expensive, but I suspect that isn't right?

My younger daughter has actually started to be a HUGE help at Thanksgiving and other events. At Yom Kippur my friend was sick and so was DH. Meredith spent most of the day in the kitchen with me, helping me make everything. Then both girls stayed up late helping me clean up after the party. We had about 40 people here that night. I am glad your dds are helping out more. :)

I totally loved those dresses - it would be awesome if they sold with out selling them. LOL I bet they will. I have seen that Pooh fabric around, but I have never seen it put all together, and it's gorgeous!

Thanks for the tip on the clothes, I will go search out a website today, and see what I find.

Thanks for the review - I've always wanted to try Akershus too.

I can't help on CRT as we've never been. With two boys, they never wanted to be caught dead in a castle with princesses (I'm sure when they got older and stopped going with us they would have thought differently). LOL - I understand why you've never been. :rolleyes1

Chiming in about CRT! We are actually eating there next month. It will be DH and I's second time and our kids first. I really don't remember anything about the food because it was 10 years ago but I do remember we had a great time. I can give you a review of the food after our trip next month.

I would love it if you would come back to give me a review!

We love CRT but it is expensive and have only dined their when we had the dining plan. We have done lunch once and dinner 3 times and there is just something magical about eating in the castle

I don't know how I could have forgotten about your amazing CRT experience... That is probably the best one I have ever heard. :cool1:

Good idea about it being a Christmas present. D said earlier that she was a bit stumped about what to get for V. The only thing is that is a long time between Christmas and an October trip to Disney.

I am thinking maybe a birthday present? Her birthday is in May - so it's a bit closer to Oct???

Glad MM is doing better but for some reason I can not get the visual of a group of hunting dogs wearing boxer shorts out of my head.

I am going to check into SW for our next trip. In March - we paid $150 in baggage fees, and I just fail to think of that when I see "cheap" airfare - those baggage fees really tack on a lot.

Not sure about black Friday yet - that schedule won't be posted until next week or the week after... I am pretty sure I will have to work - it's mandatory. :(

Yes, we are postponing our anniversary trip - again. Maybe once the girls go to college we will get to celebrate our anniversary?

I am definately going to have to budget for CRT if we go. I will have to double check prices, but I'll probably ahve to do CRT OOP, because I don't want to waste 2 credits on it.

If I make boxers for the hunting dogs, I will be sure to post pictures just for you Liz. :thumbsup2

**********************

Well, I finished my custom order bag yesterday, so I plan to post pictures later today. It turned out super cute - even Josh told me last night that I am getting really good at appliqueing... :scratchin I thought I got really good at it a few weeks ago? :rotfl2: Oh well, at least he noticed.

I have to run Alli to town this morning for a meeting, and then I plan to come home and work diligently over the next 4 days on the rest of my SSP. The main part of it should be done today, then I have a bunch of additions I want to make to it too. All next week will be devoted to taking pictures and getting descriptions written - when I am not working on next week's custom order.

Anyways - I will be back later with pictures for you all. :thumbsup2
