~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

Your schedule sounds great; I have to find a way to get to AK twice in one trip.

Love the Donald bag...too cute!

Very cute Donald bag!

I need to go back and catch up on the reading of your plans.

I've been busy cranking out my MNSSHP TR, homeschooling, driving all over creation and playing at Disney. Wednesday we are previewing the New Fantasyland. Can't wait to step foot in BOG!!

The Donald bag is another triumph! Very cute!

I love that Josh is the one who cooks TG dinner! (of course, everyone knows that the prep you'll be doing is the really hard part!:rolleyes1) This is the year all our kids are coming home for TG, so I'll have plenty of help. Hubby is going to "smoke" a turkey in his manly, expensive, beat-on-his-chest grill and I'll do the traditional turkey with the stuffing. Can't believe how close it is getting to TG!!

I am totally in love with the Donald Bag. Loving the interior fabric.

I have no clue what we are doing for Thanksgiving yet. :confused3

the Donald bag is very cute...love the material!

we are going to my older DB for thanksgiving, so no cooking for me :thumbsup2 but I do Christmas eve!

"I am not sure I undertand your question??? A mug - as in a real coffee mug? Or a mug, as in a flat fabric coffee mug? Or none of the above? LOL"

Yeah, I'm confusing like that. :) I'm doing a mug rug - a quilted coaster larger than your average coaster, large enough for a big mug and maybe a little snack as well - with a bullseye kind of design. And I wanted to see if I could get away with layering the circle. I changed my mind and am going to be able to do a traditional applique.

Your Donald stuff is always great!

DH also does the turkey - he gets one as a bonus from work and I can't eat more than a token bite (turkey and I do not get along well at all) so he's the one in charge of roasting it for our Thanksgiving dinner with from 2-16 people at his mom and dad's.

I thought I read somewhere that you could apply GCs? Hmmm...

You probably read this on my PTR/TR. I had heard that too and when I totally forgot to ask about it. The person I heard it from said that not all CMs are trained in tickets...so it only works if you get someone who knows how. Otherwise they will tell you no. I was told to go to the concierge desk instead of the check-in desk. Will definitely be trying it next trip because it was a pain to keep all those little cards around. I try to pick up a GC every time I see one...usually only about $25 each. This works well, I usually have enough for our food and souvies, but it's a pain having a bunch of little cards.

Now you've got me thinking about TG. It is going to be complicated this year because my DSIL usually hosts it, but she just left my DBIL, so I'm sure I will be stuck doing it. :sad2: Hmmm....better get planning....

Love the new Donald bag!! Especially his bow tie! Such a cute little detail. The inside fabric is perfect for :donald:

I'm so glad for you that the auction was a success!

Love the new Donald bag! The real bow for the bow tie is great!

You are so lucky that your husband helps with the TG cooking. Mine doesn't come near the kitchen. I am lucky that one of my best girlfriends come to Thanksgiving and brings several sides. Plus, she is a huge help when it is time to clean up.

ROFL - DH would leave me for sure if I came home with more MK stuff. Totally understand about the Holiday Cookies bag... It went much higher than I expected it to.

Well, I am done trying to figure out which resorts we are staying at. I know what I want to do, and how I want to do it. I've decided that however much $$ I have in my Paypal by the end of the year is my resort budget. So, I will book at whatever resort I can afford. However, if codes are released later that make something else a better deal - I reserve the right to switch. :wizard:

I worked all day yesterday on my SSP. I didn't get as far as I hoped I would when the weekend started, however - I did get further than I thought I would when I went up there yesterday. :thumbsup2 I still have so much to do - and I am starting to panic a little bit. My own personal deadline is Nov 2... Less than 2 weeks away. I don't have to finish everything I want to, but I hope I can. I am just going to be working like crazy "after hours" to get as much finished as I can. Once I am done with this - I can relax a little bit.

I've scheduled myself "off" for TG week, which is good - because I usually do all the prep work for the TG meal, while Josh does the pies and all the "day of" cooking. I am so fortunate - I wouldn't know what to do with a bird???

I"ve also scheduled myself "off" for the last 3 weeks before Christmas, I would never be able to make anything and guarantee holiday delivery after that time. Those are my weeks, so that I can make some gifts for the girls and Josh, I am also hoping that I have the time to squish in a couple more things, but those can wait right up until the last minute, because they aren't technically for Christmas. :rolleyes1

Today, I am starting another custom order. I don't work at Target at all this week, so I have ample time in my sewing room. That is probably the only thing saving the SSP right now. :wizard:

I hope you all have a fantastic Monday... Stay tuned later this morning - I will have a new bag to show you all from last week... I didn't want to show it while my auction was running and create confusion. :thumbsup2

D~

My husband's threatened to leave me too but he's stayed around so far!! :rotfl: Guess I better get selling more so he see's more of the benefit. On my way to directorship and hopefully the first car. :cool1:

I really loved the cookie bag and really wanted it but knew my limit. Maybe in the future I'll be able to get another one when you have an auction going on. Can't believe we're getting closer to when mine will be worked on and done. When I orginally ordered it I never thought this day would come!!

Stay where you want and have a great time!!!

I love the new Donald bag. My 2 year old DS has a new love in the Duck. I just got back from MK Girls weekend to LA (including Disneyland!!) and brought him back a small Donald. Donald now goes with us EVERYWHERE!!! The blanket is the item that now get's left behind!!!

I had heard that you can call and have Disney combine all the GC onto one...

Also, saw that someone on the budget board got a discount on one of the resorts that you were considering (and I thought usually did not do discounts...has just lost her brilliant status)...

Love the Donald!

Sent you a pm with the military ticket info...

Nini

Thanks Nini - I got it. Hopefully they do something next year, for my dates, of course.

Love it.

One if these days, I'll try to learn to see again.

For the 15th time.

LOL It will come to you when you're ready. I am convinced that I wouldn't have been able to learn any sooner than I did - I wouldn't have been open to learning and I would have just been frustrated. Looking back at my first circle skirts - I have no idea what prompted me to keep going. :rotfl2:

Your schedule sounds great; I have to find a way to get to AK twice in one trip.

Love the Donald bag...too cute!

After our last trip - AK is a must do twice park... Which is rough because so is MK... Then one day each at Epcot and DHS... And a day or two off... We'll never be able to do a short trip again. :confused3

Thanks!!! I love Donald, but to be honest - he is not my favorite character to sew for. :rolleyes1

Thanks! Yes - I saw all your trip updates, I've been trying to keep up with them the best I can. :surfweb: Loved your character update!!!

I cannot wait to see your FLE preview TR!

Thank you! :)

I love TG... I am not sure why - I think in years past, we just have our small families around, but we don't see all of them often enough anymore. But Josh always does all the cooking for all the holidays :lovestruc - and he is really an amazing cook, we are very lucky. This year, my next door neighbor and I are going Christmas shopping (at the MOA on the Sat after TG - WE ARE INSANE!!!!) that weekend, and it's also our family tradition to go cut down our tree and set it up that Sunday... So I just love the whole weekend - it's always so festive! :wizard:

ROFL about your DH and his grill... We have one of those too (the DH and the grill - LOL).

I am totally in love with the Donald Bag. Loving the interior fabric.

I have no clue what we are doing for Thanksgiving yet.

Thanks Chiara!

I know what we are doing, I just don't know how many are coming yet. Last year was so huge because of Brian and Myrthe coming from The Netherlands - they won't be here this year, so it might be just kind of sad.

the Donald bag is very cute...love the material!

Do you do Christmas Eve every year? I seem to remember you doing it last year?

Thanks for explaining... I was having visions of you trying to get a real coffee much under your presser foot. :rotfl2: Which I was having a hard time finding the words to tell you that probably won't work.

Thanks!

I just love being with family during the holidays!!! :lovestruc

I am pretty sure they can add them... I will have to research it more.

Oooh - that does sound a little complicated. I agree - you should start planning now, it's only 1 month away!

Thanks Jennifer! It did turn out nicely.

I'm so glad for you that the auction was a success!

Love the new Donald bag! The real bow for the bow tie is great!

Thanks Diane!

Well, at least you have help... I guess it could be worse. And it won't be long and your girls will be helping you too.

I just have to say it again - the dress you posted on FB yesterday is just precious! I love everything about the pattern you used and the fabrics you chose - just adorable! Who is getting that dress?

My husband's threatened to leave me too but he's stayed around so far!! :rotfl: Guess I better get selling more so he see's more of the benefit. On my way to directorship and hopefully the first car.

Awww... That is so cute about DS! :lovestruc

I had heard that you can call and have Disney combine all the GC onto one...

Also, saw that someone on the budget board got a discount on one of the resorts that you were considering (and I thought usually did not do discounts...has just lost her brilliant status)...

Love the Donald!

Thanks Lynn... I will go in search of this information and see if it gets me anywhere. :thumbsup2

Well, yesterday wasn't the best sewing day...

I went upstairs right away yesterday morning to cut out my next bag - which was going fine... Then DH came up and asked me if I wanted to "run to town" with him. We haven't spent much time together lately, so I decided to take the afternoon off and hang out with Josh.

We had to do some other commitments while we were out and about - one of which - he had to stop at work...

But after that, we did a little bit of Christmas shopping... I've been looking for a warm winter coat for my dad for ages (it seems), but he is hard to shop for because he is a larger/short man. So, we stopped at a store that someone mentioned on FB, and I was so happy to find him a NICE WARM winter coat at a reasonable price. Such a reasonable price that I might go back and buy him a second coat (wool) for church. :wizard: I would also like to get him some nice clothes for church - I know his current ones have seen better days. We will see if our budget allows.

We also did some Christmas shopping for Alli... She has quite the list this year, and I am afraid that all of her hobbies are expensive. The hard part is that she is so very talented at several things, so for us to pick and choose one for her to be dedicated to - it's just very hard. And then for us to "keep it even" with V is also very hard, because she doesn't have a lot of hobbies...

So, needless to say, both of the girls will probably get ONE very nice gift this year, and not much else. We will end up spending a little more than we usually do, but they are good kids, and we tend to sacrafice a lot of what we want to do for our selves (good-bye Anniversary trip) so that our girls can have a wonderful holiday. A lot of that stems from my own childhood and coming from a very poor family, making the holidays wonderful for them is very important to me. :lovestruc

Afterwards, Josh and I went out to lunch... It was so nice just to sit and talk. :lovestruc

Oh - I forgot to mention - I did get back into my sewing room last night, and I did everything I was supposed to do yesterday afternoon... So, I am not behind at all. :woohoo:

Today, I will be up there all day, working on my appliques for this bag... Depending on how they go - I might also start some assembly. popcorn::

SSP update: Well, after giving it much thought... I will be posting all the details on my Fanpage either today or tomorrow... And unfortunately - I can't reveal any details here on the Dis - I didn't think of that until yesterday. But I will definately post pictures of everything I've been working on here - because I can do that. That will be a few days though... Still need to take pictures. popcorn::

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today! :lovestruc

I Love reading your updates! I have an idea in where your thinking of staying and it's because of the way your trip days fall...
Congrats on your Auction that is WONDERFUL and totally deserved.

I love the Donald bag. He's my husbands favorite but I'm not sure I could get him to carry one of your bags. :rotfl:

I think I know the theme of the bag you are working on now! :rolleyes1
