I think your doll collection is wonderful! And my philosophy is that there is always room for one more! Of course that is coming from someone who has an entire room dedicated to Pluto. Oh, and I also have another room with over 700 teddy bears. One of my brothers friends once told me I have a collecting problem. Hmmmm, maybe he was right.
Thank you Ariana. I hate posting pictures of our AG collection on non-AG message boards, because most people outside of that community think it's excessive. And the fact that I am an adult and I love such childish things (Ahem... Disney... AG... ) What can I say, I am just a big kid... But I do enjoy every moment of my life, and the people in it.
I think I have a collecting problem too...
Love your doll collection. I collected Precious Moments and have over 400 (although they will be gone after the first of year....packed them all up for my goddaughter).
Enjoy your day in your seeing room.
Thank you Kathy! I love Precious Moments too... I think I only have 2 though... I got one of them from my aunts when my Mom died. I think I also have a Christmas ornament. They are gorgeous - and I especially LOVE the Disney ones. How wonderful that you are sharing them with your God-daughter, she will enjoy having them, I am sure.
I am jealous of your AG collection. I am hoping to get DD started on her own collection soon. They didn't have AG dolls when I was growing up but I collected Ginny dolls.
Also love the Remy bag. My kids love that movie and my younger 2 were actually watching it just yesterday at the dentist.
AG came out in 1986, I was in 6th grade and just beyond my doll years, so I never had one either. In fact, I had never heard of them until the holiday season Josh was in Iraq (2004), and I was looking for something
really special to give the girls that year, to distract them from Josh being gone. Little did I know then what a wonderful hobby it would become, and such a wonderful thing to share between the girls and I. Eventually, it even catapulted me into my sewing adventures. I firmly believe that AG helped us solidify a wonderful mother/daughter relationship, all those years sitting on the floor with my girls and dressing dolls... And even if it didn't - those are some of my very favorite memories of them.
I hope you are able to start a collection... It is just a fantastic thing... When the world around us is facing such horrible things, AG is out there promoting wholesomeness, family and friendship. There is so much more there than just dolls. IMO.
Serious thread jacking here.

I don't mind sharing! My name is Ariana by the way, not Ruth.
Here's a link to a slide show of my
Pluto Room.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I have been collecting for as long as I can remember, so almost 40 years. Pluto has always been my favorite.
LOVE your Pluto collection Ariana! It is just amazing - and I love how you have it displayed. Such a unique and fun collection.
P.S. - There is no such thing as threadjacking in my PTR/TRs...
Funny you mention this. We went to my brothers house around Halloween, and their daughter who is 5, loves this movie. So of course it was on, and our DD2 was enthralled with it. Well my husband didn't really want her to watch it, so we don't own it, easy enough. Except we have Netflix, so while looking for something else DD2 spots this movie and wants to watch it. So both of us are in the other room, she comes running in and crying "Christmas is gone!" We had to reassure her and watch the end of the movie to show her Christmas was still ok. She is really into Santa and Christmas this year, so I think for a moment she was traumatized. No more NBC for awhile.
Oh no!!! I sure hope she recovers and forgets that movie for a while.
I did finish 1 project. Pics on the disbou board. Her dance class teacher was not as happy as I hoped, so next year, gift card. Save sewing time for DD2, who loves what I make her!
Love the Remy bag, he is so cute! And adorable interior fabric.
I did run over and look at it, but I did not have the time to respond. Such a bummer that her teacher seemed unappreciative... You know, there was a time in my life where hand-made items just weren't appreciated by me either, it wasn't until I started to WANT to learn to sew that I realized what an art it is and how much work goes into it. I cringe at the fact that so many people have gifted me with their wonderful items, time, talent and hugs - and I didn't realize how much they cared about me to give me such an amazing gift. Some day, she may realize how wonderful that bag is (it's super cute, BTW) and what an amazing gift it is, how much time it took you to make it, and choose just the right fabrics for her. Or, she may never realize - regardless - I agree that your time and talent should be given to your kids, who do appreciate it and love it! Did that make sense?
the Remy bag is too cute! love the fabric inside!
cute set up of all the "girls" too!
Thanks Lisa! We had a great time setting up the "girls" this year... I just couldn't believe how much time it took.

I hope to, at least, keep up on dressing them for the seasons.
Mickey and Minnie and Ruths! Oh My!
Sorry - couldn't help myself.
LOL - isn't that the truth, Ruth.
I couldn't help myself either...
Love the bag and am completely fascinated by the fir stitch with that intermittant longer stitch.
Thanks... I wasn't sure about the "fur stitch" either... I know I've used it in the past (same stitch I used on Jack's mouth on the NBC UPB), but when I first started it, I wasn't so sure about it. It wasn't until I pulled it out of my machine to look at it, as a whole, that I decided I liked it.
After I graduated High School I lived with my sister and niece. My sister started the AG ball rolling with Addy for my niece. By the time we were done, I think the three of us had probably about 20 18 inch dolls. (Not all AG) My sister still displays most of them, including one of mine. (and still collects, even though her daughter is fast approaching 30) We used to have a mass clothing change for Christmas too, and it was a lot of fun. Especially when my cat got involved.
That is awesome! What a wonderful collection you all started. Poor cat though.
Love the Remy bag and your AG collection. The pink is a very pretty one.
Pluto0809, love your Pluto collection. I didn't look at all the pictures, but I saw many Pluto items I had never seen before.
Thank you Tink!
I agree, I think Ariana has an amazing Pluto collection!
Love your collection. C wants a shelf like you have after we do her new room. Love them Remybag it is so cool.
Thanks Chiara. LOL That is one Looooong shelf... It's approx 9 ft. I would LOVE to see Miss C's room (and shelf) when you are all done with it.
Love the Remy bag. The little wallet is so cute but Remy is fantastic!!!
Thanks Liz!
Oh, I hope V feels better soon. I think I'm getting the same thing thanks to Curtis. I can't wait until after Christmas so I can see the gifts your girls are getting this year.
Thanks, she does. Now Alli is fighting it, and I woke with a roaring headache this morning.
I can't wait to see what they are getting too.
Your birthday weekend trip to MOA sounds like so much fun. It will be nice to have something to look forward to.
Thanks! I am really looking forward to it.
I love seeing all the dolls dressed up for the Holidays. I wish my DD was more into dolls but she is a stuffed animal girl. I think it is nice to have a "collection". Instead of tossing a bunch of toys over the years that your girls never played with you have something you guys can still enjoy. Caroline is calling my name but Casey is waiting to see what the doll of the year will be in 2013 - decisions, decisions.
Yah, that was another part of AG that I loved. We had our "toy room" where all the toys lived, and it was always a disaster. But our AGs and AG items never went there, they always had a special place. Along with that, it taught my girls about respect for items of value... Which is sometimes a hard thing to teach. It was never more appearant that my girls "got it", when they would have friends over who just HAD to play with the AGs... And when they would leave, the girls would sit here for days to try and get it all organized and find all the missing pieces. After about 3 times of doing this - the girls determined that their dolls were "off limits" to all of their friends, but a select few. I was very proud of them for that, because it took a lot of courage and determination to stand up to their friends and tell them no.
The GOTY for 2013 is named Saige... She is from New Mexico. Some of the items she will have in her collection are a dog, and art easel, a white horse with speckles and saddle, her big item is a hot air balloon. Saige has a very pretty wig that is red (but not quite as red as Felicity's), longer wavy hair. She is a very pretty doll. I think most of her outfits are cute... There's a couple that I don't like that much - but my girls would probably love. I have seen pictures of all of her items, but I don't think they have been officially released by AG yet. So, maybe that will help you with your decision?
Looking forward to seeing your auction item. Based on the pictures you posted I'm guessing it is not a tire cover.
It is not a tire cover.

However, you did let me take a picture of yours while I was in Charlotte.
As for your remodel, we remodeled the kitchen in our old house. Although we did not recoop our money when we sold the house I am confident that we would not have sold our house so quickly (or for as much) if we had not done that remodel. We also got to enjoy the benefits of having a new kitchen and it improved the quality of our time in that house.
I am kind of thinking along those lines too. Thanks for giving me your opinion on that.

Yesterday in my sewing room was AWESOME!!! I am super happy and super excited about Allison's Christmas gift... It's coming together waaaay better than I thought it would. I am hoping to have it finished this morning so that I can share pictures here. I do not plan on sharing them on FB, however, unless it's in a private group, because I don't want her to see.
Then, I plan to work on V's gift this afternoon. I don't have a lot left to do for her's. Which I feel badly about, Allison's is much bigger... But I am making these to coordinate with their "big gifts" from us, and V's just doesn't need something big. Make sense?
My couch guy came yesterday, pulled apart my love seat and discovered a joint that had come loose. So, he fixed it... Hopefully it stays fixed. On the up side, I saw what he did, and how he did it - so if it happens to any of the other pieces out of warranty, I can show Josh what to do.
I've put together a few recipes for our holiday "weekend"... Josh was able to get off for Christmas Eve... So we have 4 full days together as a family. Really looking forward to it. I think I may go grocery shopping on Friday.
I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I will be back later with pictures.
