~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

OMG!!! They are AMAZING!!! Y aknow the one orange with the green zipper is a little goofy.. if i may say, BUT WANT!!!
Soo... this bag and the DSLR... This is EXCITING NEWS! WANT! Tell me more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So glad things are getting better for you!

Yes, that interior fabris is AWESOME!!! That is a great bag that will sell quickly I am sure! :thumbsup2

I LOVE the bags! I love that those are "basic" I can already see all the little details most would leave off a "basic bag"! <3

I just wanted to say that my heart is sad over the tragedies that have taken place ibm your community. I think having A stay home is a good idea. Mostly because the school seems to be a sad place to be and the teachers are having such a hard time. I hope the teachers are getting some support from the school, even if the principal didn't outline it in his letter to you. Being proactive is better than second guessing yourself if you did not take her out of school. Hopefully she can head back soon.

A teacher at Curtis's school suddenly died in the classroom a few weeks ago. It was very tragic for the school community, teachers, administration and students. The school handled the situation very well. They did lots of things to help the students grieve and had a memorial service for the students to attend.

It is probably very hard for the administration to figure out what to do in this situation since there have been so many tragedies.

I do love all your SSP projects and I am impressed you got them all written up already. Hope you can "save" your travel wallet. Maybe just glue down a new piece of vinyl and cover the glue marks with ribbon or bias??

Love the Mickey bag and can't wait to see your new insert/bag and travel wallet.

As for southwest, I give it two thumbs up. You should not have a problem getting seats together if you are in group A. I just login 24 hours before (on the dot). On one of our segments on our last trip I paid the money to get an early check in and only got a few spots ahead so I would not pay for hat again. They don't guarantee you will get in A Group if you pay the fee. I will just take my chances next time, I am too cheap too pay.

Glad to hear that your school is not giving you a hard time.

:love::love: Love the mickey bag. Is this a preview of all the sneak peaks you have been doing?

I really, at this moment, need a day in the sewing room, without the DH in the house.

So, when I first read "set of bags" and how they were the Fab 5, I had an image of a big Mickey bag, Smaller Minnie clutch, Pluto wallet, Donald lanyard pouch, and a big Goofy duffel to put them all in for travel. Like a "Set." ;) I like the idea of the Fab 5 on individual bags too...not only to sell, but to give people ideas for orders when you take them. And, as always, your bags are wonderful.

Glad the school sounds like it's stepping up to help the students and not giving your family a hard time for taking Alli out. Now they really need to do something for the teachers, they are the one's the students look up to. Hugs for your family and I really hope things settle down and Alli is able to go back to school soon. Enjoy your time with her though cuz as you know it goes by way to fast!!

OMG!!! I love the new mickey bag. May be making another purchase!!!!

Sounds like you've been so busy! I find it so amazing that once you scratched the surface of your creativity you hit a gusher! All this talent was in there just waiting to be discovered.

So glad to hear Allie is doing so well and is keeping up with her homework on her own. I'm sure it has helped so much to know that you understand her feelings and support her.

I had to laugh about the last minute volcano! It brought back memories of when one of our 4 had last minute assignments that we had to scramble around getting completed. My daughter just reminded me about a pillow she was supposed to make for home ec and she messed it up so badly and was in tears, so I took it and "fixed" it for her...and I only got a B!:rotfl: She said she had messed it up so badly there wasn't a lot I could do. I don't remember that at all, but I don't doubt it for a minute.

Good luck with all you have to do, and I'm looking forward to the previews of your latest work.

THanks Lois. :lovestruc It seems like the story of our lives in our house... Someone is always forgetting about something, so we have to scramble at the last minute... :confused3

Oh My Gosh! I love that lining fabric! I've never seen that before. It is a wonderful set and so well done. I'm sure you're tired of hearing that. I'm running out of superlatives to describe your work!

Thanks, I loved that lining fabric too... It's not my standard cotton - it's actually a canvas, it was a bit strange to work with.

Wonderful job, D! I love the pattern.

I'm so happy that Ali is doing well at home and keeping up with her homework.
We had a tragedy in a neighboring suburb yesterday. Two young children, ages 6 and 8, were stabbed by the mother of one of them (and she babysits the other). The school called in the crisis group immediately. I can't imagine what that does to a young child.

Thanks Kathy.

That is a horrible story, I can't even imagine what would posess someone to do such a thing - to a child. My heart aches for those families & that community.

Love the Mickey bag! I'm very tempted to bid on that for my Mom.

Thanks! I do like how all of these bags turned out... They are just a really nice "basic bag". And I have never done Mickey in all black dots before - so that was fun too. :thumbsup2

Now, you know I can't tell you that Mo... :rotfl2:

I am beyond excited about the DSLR camera bag... You have no idea - I was dreaming about it again last night. I would love nothing more than to set aside everything and make one. :lovestruc And I am super excited about the DSLR insert too - I just think that Marianne's idea was brilliant!

The hardest part is making it a park bag too - KWIM... If you have the time to shoot me a PM (or anyone who takes a DSLR into the parks) about what you tend to carry besides your camera and gear - that would be great. After all, this will mosly and primarily be a camera bag, but I plan to have pockets for a few other things too. :goodvibes

Yes, that interior fabris is AWESOME!!! That is a great bag that will sell quickly I am sure!

Thanks! I love that fabric too!

I LOVE the bags! I love that those are "basic" I can already see all the little details most would leave off a "basic bag"! <3

Thanks Callie! That's my problem though, my "basic" is not really basic at all... :rolleyes1 But I did try to make it as "basic" as I could LOL.

I failed to comment on how much I LOVE all the new bags!!!!!!

Thanks Erin!

Thanks Liz, it has been rough. I was driving home from work yesterday, and I passed the church where the 2nd boy's funeral was being held. It was very sad to see such a line of young people going into the parking lot.

We plan to have Alli back in school on Monday.

That's awful! And I agree, very tragic. I am glad the school handled the situation well.

Thanks! I couldn't believe I got them all written either... I still have one set to write (I forgot to take pictures of it). I don't think the travel wallet will be able to be saved - it's just one of those freak things - honestly, I just don't even want to look at it anymore. :headache:

Love the Mickey bag and can't wait to see your new insert/bag and travel wallet.

Thanks! I am excited about them too!

I definatly plan to look into their fares once the fares are released. They don't release their fares for a few months out though, right?

Glad to hear that your school is not giving you a hard time.
Love the mickey bag. Is this a preview of all the sneak peaks you have been doing?

Thanks! Yes, this is one of the entire sets I've been doing "peeks" on.

I really, at this moment, need a day in the sewing room, without the DH in the house.

LOL Thanks! I did think about doing that, but I wanted to be able to have more bags out there - so I did it this way. That way, I hope, there is something that appeals to anyone who might want one. :thumbsup2

Thanks Sandra... I agree completely. As of now, Alli will be going back on Monday morning.

I love the new bag!! I can't wait to see more!!!

Thanks Jennifer!

I love your Mickey bag! Beautiful as always!

Thanks Ruth - I hope you had a wonderful birthday! :lovestruc

*************************************

Well, nothing new to update on the school. As far as we have heard, there have been no other deaths, Praise the Lord.

I had to stop at the school yesterday to get some of Alli's work that couldn't be sent via email - it was after school hours though, and there weren't many students/faculty around.

I worked all day yesterday - so no sewing room for me. I plan to finish assembling my latest bag this morning, and then begin working on the wallet. I hope to have everything done today, but it will be close. :rolleyes1

I would really like to have the weekend to work on a couple more accessories to coordinate with the Mickey set for the SSP. But we will see how that goes.

I am getting very excited for Christmas. While I was at work yesterday, they were setting the holiday section in the back of the store, and I just wanted to come home and set up my village and play Christmas music. Only a few more weeks. :lovestruc I love Thanksgiving... we are having is here again with my dad and brother. I told Josh at dinner last night, he needs to put a grocery list together for me, so I can start some of that shopping. I've already purchased his frozen cranberries for his salad - because those always sell out early.

Then, sometime during that weekend, we always go cut our tree... Ahhh, the smell of pine in the house... Nothing better - IMO. Except this year - we will have MM to contend with. Sigh.

We are still praying for all of those affected by Sandy. I have not been able to catch the news, so I have no idea what is going on, sadly. But we have continued to pray. Chiara - I am so relieved that you finally have power again.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today.

D~

MM and a Christmas tree...that should be entertaining!:rolleyes1:lmao:

When my dogs were younger, they used to like to snag the ornaments off the lower limbs and play/eat them...they always looked totally surprised if they managed to get a glass one and it would break! At least they had enough sense to leave it alone if it did break.

I keep meaning to ask, but I keep forgetting...

When the girls and I were in WDW, we purchased an Eeyore for MM... This is his "baby"... He carries Eeyore with him everywhere, and Eeyore is the only toy that he's never destroyed... Until the other day... Poor Eeyore had a small hole next to his ear - I was going to sew it up, but during the night MM ripped it off... We have yet to find the ear. :rolleyes1 And we've looked everywhere. I had to sew Eeyore back together with out an ear. :faint:

This is what Eeyore looks like:

We looked everywhere on WDW property, but the only place we found this particular Eeyore was in the Poly gift shop (the one on the 2nd floor)... This Eeyore is special, because he is incredibly FLOPPY, and that's what MM loves about him, Eeyore must be the laying down type and extra floppy. ::yes::

So, if anyone is going to WDW anytime soon, I would love it if you could pick up another Eeyore for him... I would be happy to send you Paypal funds immediately (I believe he was $19.99) + shipping. :wizard:

Thanks so much! :lovestruc

I am going at Christmas, unless you need him before. :)

I think I want to decorate for Christmas in the next few weeks. I want to put our small tree and Cs tree up this year and couple of my smaller village things out. I haven't wanted to decorate in a few years but I want to this year which is strange.

Thanks D I am so happy to have my power back. Today I am playing catch up but need to find who has groceries since we lost all of our food.

I will be at WDW the week of Thanksgiving and will be doing the luau at the Poly so I could pick it up for you.

Where is Marianne idea? Sorry this is just too exciting!
I don't know if this would help, this is what i carry with me on DSLR days. that camera get HEAVY after a while: point and shoot, the DSLR, 2 lens, extra SD cards, hood for lens, batteries, lens covers, tri pod, Cleaner for lens, and soft cloth, of course the shoulder straps (2) just like need two pairs of gym shoes? Same concept! Tripod goes into a locker until fireworks time!:cool2:

If any of the others going before me have no luck finding Eeyore, I will be happy to look when we go in early December....just let me know.

I think the Minnie is now my favorite....love it.

Minnie is so cute too! I love the little lacy part (can you tell I don't sew, I have no idea what to actually call that material :lmao:). I can't wait to see the Pluto one.

I can definitely look for Eeyore when I go in a few weeks. Mom and I are huge shoppers, never saw a gift shop we didn't like, so we will be in every shop in Disney. Just let me know if you get one before we go.
