~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I think I know where you are moving to...saw something on FB last night that I think is a hint. But Ill be good and play along....But if Im right....YAY! So exciting!

Going to throw us ALL off and go to GF.

the bag is ADORABLE! your work is awe inspiring:flower3:!

Great bag! That Mickey means business! Hee hee!

popcorn:: Still just along for the ride while you debate all your trip details. I'm interested in what you decide, but don't have really anything to add to the ongoing convo. I'm sure you will figure it out soon though.

Update on MM?

Sunshine

So, the plan is... Hopefully, to fly down on October 11 (would like an afternoon flight, so the girls could at least get a half day of school in). We will pick them up from school and go directly to the airport. I plan to stay at POFQ until Monday, on Monday, we will check out of FQ and that evening, we will check into our new resort.

Hint: It is not a Moderate.

I hope you all have a fantastic day!

D~

:sad2:

You know we are all going to be hounding you worst than your kids:rotfl2:

I read it on someone's TR here. They were at WL, but I'm sure they use the same beds. They said there was a sign that said the bunks were recommended for children under 4...I think??? I remember she was annoyed because it clearly listed the ages of her older children on their reservation and why would they give them a bunk bed room if the kids weren't supposed to sleep in the beds?? But I do remember that she said the kids were just fine in them...just don't remember how big they were. :confused3
We had a room with bunk beds when my girls were 8 and 9. There wasn't any sign saying that they were too big for the beds and they fit on them just fine. They were regular twin sized bunk beds and they loved them. Maybe the person who posted that meant the trundle beds not the bunk beds. Don't some of the rooms have a trundle bed for smaller kids???? I don't remember for sure.

D- I just love your new bag! Sorcerer Mickey is amazing! I can't believe that you do all that by hand. You're awesome!

I also can't believe you aren't telling what resort you are staying and you're planning to keep us in the dark for almost a year!

I hope that Max is feeling better. Maybe he needs protective pants next time he goes hunting.

Can't wait to hear about the resort!

And seeing the bags you post...I can not WAIT for the day my bag gets posted on here!!! I was telling a friend about them just yesterday! We have a good friend who is a GREAT seamstress, but never has the time to sew anymore!

I thought about Mickey for mine but still like my choice!!! Really love the bag and the colors go so well together!!

I am sure this will take me HOURS to reply to this morning...

well I am GLAD to see someone so confused as i am...
especially a veteran as yourself!!!
Please keep me update on the puppy... My suggestion was to put on the ointment, and put shorts on your a FABULOUS seamstress and i am sure you can come up with something for MM!!! my Goldens always got hot spots so i added the ointment bandaged it pretty think then added Listerine (the yellow) they never touched the bandage... Just my thoughts on puppy dogs...

Animal kingdom sounds wonderful.. I just don't think i could deal with animals waking me up in the morning!!!

Way too much to decide, but your dates are set correct???

I WOULD change my ressie for October to hang with the cool crowd BUT sept 8th is the kiddies birthday and i want to be IN Disney that day!:upsidedow

I googled the bunk beds at AKL the look to be the same length as a regular bed??? But Like Susi said.. a little smaller then the girls might like?!?!

I have the gift card app and i have NO idea how it works either!!!

I am very confused... LOL All the time...

MM update below...

Yes, our dates for October are pretty much set. The earliest we can go is Oct 11, the latest we can stay is the 20th - so with in that time frame, we are stuck.

You're so funny with all your options I know you're frustrated, but I'm having fun listening Reminds me of myself and my T-shirt order with Chiara - I've changed it several times and she's been really great about it, but I feel bad! I'm done changing now though I think I did that with my Ultimate park bag order too

We're staying in a family suite at All-star Music in December. I'm looking forward to it! There will be 3 adults and a three year old, so it will be nice to have a bedroom they can sleep in and I can shut the door to! I really think the kitchen area will come in handy! We've done connecting rooms before, but having the sitting area will be nice!

DD28 and I have stayed in a studio twice at Old Key West (we loved it there). We had plenty of room!

LOL - I love Chiara - she does such marvelous work!

Oooh your family suite sounds wonderful. Someday I hope to go in December.

That's good to hear about the Studio.

I think it is funny that you are having so much trouble picking the perfect resort to stay in!

For us, it is never (well, almost never) an issue. We nix a value because of the size. We are Pooh size adults and the values are just a bit too small with the regular full size beds.

Since we are rarely actually in the room, I have issues with paying more money for a Deluxe. I have given some considerations to a Savannah room at AKL, but the extra expense meant we could stay for less time.

When we go for a short trip without the kids we will likely stay in that Savannah room, but when it is a family trip it will always be a moderate. SOG is a blast to stay at, and we always drop by there every trip (like something small from the shoppette or to get some tickets.) Since we drive, it is not really any farther for us... but not being able to get the dining plan makes it more expensive for us than staying at a moderate. (we are big eaters...remember Pooh sized!)

I can't wait for your auction! I will plan on bidding at least once...but I am guessing it will be early on...while I can still afford it. LOL

Nini

Nini - which Mods do you like to stay in?

I agree with your SoG analysis... And for the very little savings, I am not sure I can justify that with the convenience of a Disney property.

That is just so sweet. C loves pick a pearl.

I know - Suzi was so nice to think of me like that.

Love the Holiday bag! I also love the carraige pick a pearl. Maybe next time I go I will actually do it. I have always wanted to. By chance would you be able to PM your FB info? Thanks!

Thank you! It's a beautful setting!

Re: DVC Questions

You can purchase the dining plan up until 2 days before your trip, well, 48 hours. So usually no rush on that issue. If renting points through a service like Davids, you have to deal with a middleman so I would give yourself a few weeks in advance to get the dining plan in place. You just can't order it after you arrive at the resort. Also, the owner of the unit has to pay for it. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways but generally what I have seen is the renter will purchase a Disney gift card and give that number to the owner to use for the dining plan purchase. Of course if you are willing to pass over a cc number not really an issue. Also, for ME you usually have to have the owner not this on the reservation as well. I have heard of some renters being able to call ME directly and do this but generally has to be the owner that orders the ME service. I guess the only thing to remember is that renting DVC means you don't get daily housekeeping. You will get a towel replacement/trash pick up on the 4th day but otherwise no housekeeping. If this is important you can pay extra for daily housekeeping.

If you decide to do Conceirge level I wouldn't do the dining plan, it would probably be overkill. But others I am sure can talk more about that. As for your timing, the only rooms at AKV that need to be booked exactly at 11 months would be the value villas and the conceirge villas. All the others you shouldn't have problems booking before the 7 month window. For Savannah view you can probably get a room even after the 7 month window as that is the highest point category and the last to fill up. We own at BLT but have stayed at AKV many times because of the low point value. We have always stayed Savannah view and it is wonderful. But, you really can see animals from all over the resort so not necessarily a priority.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for all this info - it did really help me a lot! And it did help me come to a final decision - I promise! :flower3:

This is a test...

I am here D~ waiting for some news...

Thanks for testing for me...

You are evil!!!!

I get this occasionally.

Here I go and get all excitied for where you will be staying then...... NOTHING!!! How Rude!!!

I get this too...

I'd do that too after building up suspense like that.

Love the holiday bag. That lining is perfect.

Thanks for understanding my need to be cryptic... I rather enjoy it! :thumbsup2

And thank you.

Yeah right...you aren't any closer to picking a place to stay than I am! You just want us to think you are

Oh, I am, no worries!

I'm glad you like the carriage. I actually went back to oopsi's report to see if you commented on it, then I went through your report to make sure you didn't get it. I saw lots and lots of cute Donald things I wanted to get for you, but I have no idea what you already have and what you didn't...so I settled for this. It was a fun process doing the P-A-P, and I'm glad someone will get use out of the pretty little thing!

I would call you a stalker, but I already know that you know you are. :rotfl2:

Thank you so very much - you know I love it! I am super excited about bringing it to WDW too!

Love it! I waited patiently for StraightTalk to come out with a Verizon network smartphone. And now they have 2! It is a Galaxy Proclaim. Not as cool as the iphone or the Galaxy SIII, but it's what I can afford and at $45/month unlimited everything....I am very very happy with it.

Oh, and your ringtone is set to Dory singing "just keep swimming...just keep swimming..." :)

LOL It should be "just keep sewing... Just keep sewing..." :rotfl2:

You are bad..... just leaving us hanging like that

I know - I get this a lot too...

Poor MM.... I meant to comment on your earlier post but I have short term memory loss and if I don't pull up the quote I forget to comment on it.

That is so sweet My IRL friend always looks at me like I am crazy when I talk about all my friends from online

I will do an MM update below...

I know - I love my online friends!

You can get 3 views- Savannah, Pool or Parking Lot. I have never had Parking lot view but have had both Savannah once and Pool view twice and I really love them both.

Plus the value resorts are located in the best section of Jambo.

This is VERY good to know. :thumbsup2 Thank you!

You are such a stinker making it a surprise for ALL of us.

Sorry about your Internet....that stinks.

This is the first time I've gotten this comment though... I kind of like it. :stir:

She is a stinker. Are you trying to compete with Tammie for the Queen of Suspense title? I'm excited for you, whichever resort you picked.

Hmmm.... I am curious now, who is Tammie?

polynesian!!!!!!!!!

I can't tell you that.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the bag.

I asked you on Suzi's thread how can I order one?

Thanks Kathy... I did send you a PM. :thumbsup2

Such a great bag! So talented!

Welcome!!! (I think - sometimes I can't remember if someone has posted before - so I'd rather welcome someone twice than not at all)... And thank you. :flower3:

That bag is outstanding! I like the idea of two quilted interior pockets. Love the fabric choices too, as usual.

Thanks... I've never done two before - so I almost forgot that second one. LOL

Hope Max is doing better now. How long does he have to wear the cone? I like the idea of making him a pair of shorts to wear. They could be camo and fit right in, so to speak.

LOL I will do a MM update below.

Will your auction be on Facebook? Is it part of the Main Street page? I'm sure whatever you have will be fought over right up to the end!

LOL - Thanks. Yes, it is on Facebook, on my own fan page, not on the Main Street Boutiques page.

I get so frustrated when I have problems with my internet, computer, anything techie. I do love my iPhone, more than I ever thought I would. During my recent stay in Virginia to help my daughter, I had to go all over the place to do lots of different things, and the GPS on there was amazing. And fast! I tend to lose my bearings and that thing got me everywhere I wanted to go. And last night DH and I were at Babie R Us to get shower gifts and we were able to download coupons for 20% off and saved us some money!

Hope you have a great day at work. Do you like working at Target?

Thankfully DH is a techie, which sometimes helps and sometimes doesn't... especially when he is trying to tell the "almighty phone company" what is wrong and they either don't believe him, or they don't believe him, or they don't believe him... And then they call back after they've fixed the problem and they tell him that the problem was what he told him it was. :badpc:

Sometimes I like working at Target... I get frustrated when I go in, and they have me doing menial work, or have nothing for me to do, because I know how busy I am at home and how much I need to get done - at that point, I feel like my time away is wasted. It's also very hard on my feet, and I usually have walking issues for about a day after a shift at Target... Even with the best shoes, it's very hard on my body to be on that concrete all day. I do like my discount - and that is the main reason I stay... And I use my discount on my Disney trips... I purchase Disney Gift Cards at Target and use them to pay for my trips, so I get -10% (employee discount) + -5% (Target Check Card discount), so each $50 GC costs me $42.50... That's a hugs savings on a $4k-5k trip. So, that's the main reason I stay - because with my (roughly) one shift per week, I don't make a lot of $$ there.

Animal Kingdom Villas!!

Good guess... But I cannot answer that. :stir:

Another great bag!

Thanks Tink!

I think I know where you are moving to...saw something on FB last night that I think is a hint. But Ill be good and play along....But if Im right....YAY! So exciting!

You know I cannot answer that either. :stir:

Update on MM?

Sunshine

Thank you Sunshine...

BTW... I meant to thank you... I reviewed the latest SoG thread, and I saw your suite pictures in there - those were awesome, and I don't think I have ever seen those posted before. It was so nice of you to post them, and so many of them!

I will do an update on MM at the bottom.

You know we are all going to be hounding you worst than your kids

LOL - Bring it on. :beach:

We had a room with bunk beds when my girls were 8 and 9. There wasn't any sign saying that they were too big for the beds and they fit on them just fine. Interesting about the beds... I will need to do more research on them. They do look like they could be shorter bunks - so maybe the bottom bunk person can't sit up with out hitting their head?

Thanks for the compliments Diane... And btw - congrats on your new machine! How awesome (and I am jealous!).

Of course, I will be over a year before you all find out... :faint:

LOL - I will do an MM update at the bottom.

Can't wait to hear about the resort!

And seeing the bags you post...I can not WAIT for the day my bag gets posted on here!!! I was telling a friend about them just yesterday! We have a good friend who is a GREAT seamstress, but never has the time to sew anymore!

Me too - LOL. That's a bummer about your seamstress friend... I can't imagine not sewing.

I thought about Mickey for mine but still like my choice!!! Really love the bag and the colors go so well together!!

Thanks so much!! I like your bag choice too... Only a few more weeks.

OK...

MM update: He is starting to do much better. He was very lethargic for a few days there - constantly licking his male parts and making them even more raw. We didn't have him in the cone constantly - only for a few hours after we put his medicine on. I still don't think his tummy is quite right, he has not been eating well, unless we mix canned food with his regular food. The other morning (Monday?) - he threw up a large hair ball... So I am pretty sure that his tummy issues are coming from all the licking he is doing? Yesterday, his "crazy man" personality was starting to come back again, and he was much more playful/annoying - like he usually is. HOpefully that is a sign that he is starting to feel better.

Next year, I will be making shorts for the entire hunting party of dogs, I am sure. :artist:

As for our resort update... There isn't one. Now I am agonizing on where to stay within the resort of our choice... :scratchin Pouring over endless photos... videos... reviews... Craziness... :crazy2:

Auction update... I have a few bids, which was a nice surprise. I am always leary of putting my items out there, it is the ultimate pass/fail scenerio. Either people will like it and bid, or they won't and I fail. So, I am very happy that I have a few bids, and I am even happier that most of them are from people who already own one (or more) of my bags. That is a true testiment that they like them, or they would never come back for more. That makes me happier than anything - honestly. It reassures me that people truly do like what I make. :flower3:

Life update.... I am a true dork in every sense of the word... After all that waiting for tags, I am an idiot and forgot to get envelopes when I was in town yesterday... So, now I need to make a special trip this morning... Envelopes are annoying to buy - because they are expensive, and I really need to buy them in bulk. I've researched, and I would save a TON of $$ and hassle if I purchased a bunch in bulk - I just have a hard time investing that much $$ into something like that... I know I will use it. Then I waffle around with going the box route - which I think would be much nicer... But those are twice the price of the envelopes... Then I would also like to get some larger tissue paper to wrap my bags in, because the current tissue paper available everywhere is a bit too small and difficult to wrap nicely (I am not the best wrapper anyways)... To buy the tissue - I would also have to buy in bulk... 2k worth of sheets (which would last me forever, probably).

So, what's your opinion - hypothetically... if you purchased a bag from me... Would you prefer it came in a large bubble envelope? A box? Wrapped in nice tissue paper??? I really want to hear what you all think, because I don't think I can spend that much $$ with out a clear opinion.

So, that's all for today! I hope you all have a supurb day! :beach:

D~

Oh my D~! You continue to amaze me with your creations. I really like your latest bags. I love the Sorcerer Mickey applique! And your auction bag is so cute. I saw that and immediately wanted to start baking my Christmas cookies! ::yes::

I've been following along even though I haven't posted in awhile. I found your DVC research very interesting. I thought about DVC after our last trip, but it doesn't make sense for us either. Partly because there are so many other places we want to experience right now. Partly because the distance for us makes it impractical to go every year budget wise.

I can't wait to hear what you have decided on for your split stay next year. I can't believe that you are holding out on us though! Like Michelle said, we are going to hound you worse than your girls. :teeth:

Poor MM! Hoping he recovers quickly. :goodvibes

I'm glad MM is doing better, it's so hard to see them hurting!

I honestly don't care how my bag comes, just so I get it! :cool1: I would say go the cheapest route possible to save money. The bags aren't breakable so shipping in a box seems a little overkill to me.

First...we have stayed at all the moderates except for POR. We were supposed to stay there in Sept, but we changed for Novemebr and CSR. The only one we will not redo is CBR...because even after their recent 'updates' they still have the plain double beds... and we prefer the queen size from the other mods.

Last year at POFQ we were upgraded (not by choice) to to a corner room with both a river and pool view. (I had thought all those were king rooms, but evidently not!)

Our only bad experience was at CSR... but it was not totally their fault (how they handled it WAS their fault) But we are giving them another shot this year.

Now, as to the bag packaging issues..

I can so relate! I spend almost as much time packaging the dresses as I do to make them (almost...what an exaggeration!) And I know they still end up arriving squished and seriously needing a good pressing. I hate that! But, to remedy it, would cost me at least $10 more than I pay now...and I hate to charge more for shipping... KWIM?

However, as a recipient of your gorgeous bag...I truthfully ripped that sucker apart! I couldn't wait to get into the bag! (imagine Christmas morning!) So I had to think for a minute about how you had it packaged!

The only time I notice how something is packaged when I receive it is if it is damaged. So I am totally no help at all...because I know I am strange!

As to MM...unless the ointment/medicine is completely gone when you take off the cone it could be making him have tummy issues. Even after it is dry...it is still there...so licking it will get it in his mouth.

Think about it...it if only worked when it was wet...you would have to keep reapplying every few minutes!

Glad Max is feeling better! :goodvibes

My opinion on the packaging? My only concern is that the more elaborate you go with the packaging, it may ultimately affect your bag pricing. I am embarrassed to point that out, but it was my immediate thought. I am very excited to finally get to order a bag. It has taken this long due to the fact that I am SAVING to get the bag. This is a treat for myself, and very out of the ordinary for me to get ANYTHING for myself. So, if packaging causes a price increase with the bags, maybe others like myself will not be able to have one of your beautiful creations.

happy to hear MM is feeling better!

the new bag is cute!!

hmmm resort choice - AKL savannah view!

packaging - stay with the bubble envelope and regular tissue, keep your costs down!

I am like Nini...I just wanted that puppy out when I realized it was a package from D~!!!:rotfl2:

That being said...have you looked into sending them priority mail versus regular mail? If you do, it may cost a little more in shipping, but the boxes are free and you can order them online and have them shipped to your house. I suspect that the regular shipping price is not a whole lot different from the priority price once you factor in not having to purchase the envelopes, plus you can print postage off your computer and have USPS pick up from your house!

As nice as the tissue is...it is just one more layer between me and a D~ original! LOL!;)

LYNN!!!! I haven't seen you on the Dis lately! How are you? We are going to try to head your way in a few weeks for some Christmas shopping. I will let you know beforehand so we can meet up and have a cuppa coffee or something together! :goodvibes

You like this whole secrecy thing a lot don't you lol! I am not very good at keeping them so kudos to you!
LOVE the coach charm oh so precious and so sweet of your friend!
The bags you have snuck pics of are both so awesome! LOVE the new sorcerer mickey! Good luck with your auction !!!

totally love the Socerer Mickey Bag.

On packaging it really depends on you. Have you seen if your bags will fit in priority envelopes they are free from the post office and they have flat rate padded and non padded.

I generally ship my sets in those unless I have a larger order and then it goes in a flat rate box.

also if you ship priority you can schedule a pick up at your house so no post office trip.

I talked to G last night and told him I want to do an October trip next year and he was seemingly okay with it.

You guys are BRILLIANT~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I went to USPS.com and lookie what I found... For FREE!!!!

https://store.usps.com/store/browse/productDetailSingleSku.jsp?productId=P_EP_14

Almost all of my bags ship priority anyways, because they are too large to go first class... BUt I always thought you had to pay for these... You all are the best - you just saved me a boat load of $$$$. :cool1:

Now... If I can just find the tissue paper. I don't mind buying 2K sheets, especially since I don't have to purchase envelopes or boxes... BTW, that's 2K worth of tissue paper, NOT $2K worth of tissue paper. LOL I hope I didn't confuse you all earlier. :crazy2:
