~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

I am sorry that you are still feeling "off". I hope you are back to normal in a day or two; but I'd keep after the nurse if you aren't.

I've been trying to work on my menu/grocery list all week, but I just haven't been able to concentrate on it... So, I made my menu and I made my grocery list off of it - but that's as far as I got. I finally handed it off to my bff, and she was able to find the best deals for me. We had some awesome coupons that expired yesterday, so she did some of my shopping yesterday, and she is doing a bit more today... Then she is coming down to deliver this afternoon. :lovestruc I am so lucky to have her! I am still going to have to shop on Friday - but it will be very minimal - and basic stuff, like milk, bread and eggs...

Today is the BIG DAY!!! I get my oven back, and I cannot wait! :cool1: This has been one big frustration for me, and I will be happy to be able to cook a "normal meal" again.

D~
Your bff sounds awesome! It is great that she can help you out with your groceries and coupons etc. And she is delivering your groceries to you so that's even better!:cheer2:

I hope your oven repair went ok and that you can now use it again.

Glad your starting to feel a little bit more normal. It is great to have friends who are willing to help you when you need it!!

Yeah for the oven being fixed! I don't know what I'd do without mine either!! :confused3

D~ so glad you are feeling a bit better each day. Some people have a particular sensitivity to anesthesia and looks as though you're one of them. I'm glad you're getting rest, but still able to get some sewing done.

Thank you Lois... I finally feel like I am returning a bit back to normal... It seems like I am getting tired later and later in the day - yesterday, it didn't hit me until about 1pm... Which is waaaay better than 9am.

Yay! For getting the oven fixed today!! I know that will make you feel better for sure. You've waited so long.

Yay is right! I will update below - but :cool1:

I agree that you are very fortunate to have a friend to do all that shopping for you and get those great coupon bargains for you. I'm sure she's happy to do it for you and I'm also sure you are equally giving to her when she needs it. I believe good friends are one of God's very best gifts to us!

I try to be equally as giving, but it doesn't always work out that way. But you are right - she is an amazing friend, and I am so lucky to have her.

Hope you have another great day in the sewing room...and in the kitchen!

Thanks Lois, I did.

Can you tell I was in a smiley mood today?

ETA: What's the latest on RuthIE?

I did send her a text yesterday, and she called me back, but I was busy and coudn't chat with her. She also sent me a text last night, but I haven't had a chance to respond. I hope to have more info for you sometime today. :flower3:

I think it is great that you have not been using any medications for 3 days. Sounds like you are on your way to feeling better but hope you still take it easy for a few more days.

I agree - I think it's really helping me get out of that fog.

Yeah for the oven getting fixed today and getting so far on your latest bag.

Yay!

Just finished editing all of my brother's photopass pictures since we have to order the CD by tomorrow. I should have taken their memory card before we left Disney because they uploaded some pictures to Shutterfly but not all of them. Hopefully they didn't delete the picture I took of the women in Epcot wearing a little black dress and super high heels pushing a stroller. Not my preferred footwear for Disney touring but to each their own.

ROFL... Seriously??? People are so crazy!

Yay! You get your oven back. I am sure this will be a relief.

Hope you feel 100% real soon.:flower3:

It's a huge relief! For sure! And thank you!

Hah! I work in a hands-on science center and sometimes I wonder what some women are thinking with their footwear choices. Four inch Heels on a field trip? Really?? I don't think I've ever seen anything that extreme at WDW.

I saw it once when we were there in 2008, people are so dumb, you wonder what in the world they are thinking?

I kinda have a BFF that does my grocery shopping. DH does the majority of the shopping in our house. But he's never remembered a coupon. EVER.

Sounds like you have an awesome bff like I do! LOL about dh - mine would use coupons, but I don't think he would use them as much as I have been.

And D~.....The oven's back and you've only got one day more of the February Funk. You'll be back in fine shape in no time at all.

Thank God! I am not sure how much more of this I can take?

I am sorry that you are still feeling "off". I hope you are back to normal in a day or two; but I'd keep after the nurse if you aren't.

Thanks Kathy... I plan to call the Dr. today.

Your bff sounds awesome! It is great that she can help you out with your groceries and coupons etc. And she is delivering your groceries to you so that's even better!

I know - she was such a sweetheart yesterday! She even carried in all of my groceries, because I am still on lifting restrictions for a few more weeks.

I hope your oven repair went ok and that you can now use it again.

It did go OK - thanks!

Glad your starting to feel a little bit more normal. It is great to have friends who are willing to help you when you need it!!

Thanks Sandra! I am so lucky to have such great friends - both here and IRL.

Yeah for the oven being fixed! I don't know what I'd do without mine either!!

I know - I felt like I was making half meals for the last 11 days... It's so nice to have it back!

**********************************************************

First things first... I am calling the Dr. right away this morning, I cannot stand this rash one moment longer... I am quite positive that it's an alergic reaction to the iodine, because it's everywhere that they put it (you can see the lines and everything), and it's so darn itchy. The Benedryl cream is not helping at all, and there are spots where it's starting to get a bit raw. So, hopefully they can get me in and get rid of it today. It would go great lengths to making me feel better.

I am finally starting to feel a bit more like myself... And a lot less foggy. Which is good... It was not like me to be totally shot at 9am. Yesterday, I went until about 1pm before I started to lose my oomph, and I was able to push through it. ::yes::

My oven is FIXED!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 I am soooo very happy... After the repair guy left, I even kissed it and did a little dance! Whoot! We celebrated with frozen pizzas for dinner. However, I did discover, while the pizzas were cooking, my oven lights no longer work. Not sure if that's due to this being a refurbed part & not exactly the same part (the only way to replace this particular part) and not having all of the options that my original oven had. Or if both of our oven lights burned out, because when you push the oven light button - it does beep??? Not sure. But I was able to talk the repair guy into leaving our original part behind, so if all else fails, we can have that part refurbed and just use this one as a spare. The only reason we didn't do that this time, was because we would have had to go with out an oven and a stove top for the whole duration that the part was being refurbed - and there is no way we could have done that. This repair man was MUCH nicer than the first one - that's for sure!

While he was here, he noticed that our refrigerator was making that funny noise again... So, the nice guy that he is, he pulled it out and gave it a look-see. He told me exactly what was wrong with it, which part to order and where to order it from. He also told me to put a fan on the back of it, because our compressor was about to over heat/die. Yikes! Can't afford to fix that too right now... So, I ran upstairs and put a fan on it... So, right now our fridge is pulled out from the wall (which is hugely inconvenient)... Josh ordered the part last night, and hopefully it will be here before the weekend, so we can get that fixed too. It was very nice of that repair man to look at our fridge and not charge us for it. :cheer2:

I was able to start and finish my applique yesterday morning... It wasn't hugely difficult, but Mr. Rocket was having fits the entire time... I ended up hand cranking almost the entire thing - and I was not happy about it. The reason Mr. R was having fits was that I decided to quilt one of the pieces before I appliqued it, and he did not like having to go through 2 layers of quilting to applique... Darn finicky man. :confused3 I managed to finish before he managed to do a nose dive onto my front lawn... :scratchin

Today, I plan to start assembling this bag. I am not sure how far I will get. I really hope to finish it, but it will depend on what time I have to run to town for the Dr.

I hope you all have a wonderful day today. :grouphug:

D~

YAY for the oven!!!:cool1:
boooo for the refrigerator!!! thumbs DOWN!

Glad your feeling better! Can't believe the cream didn't work for you! there has to be something else wrong there! Going to be checking in on you!!

Glad to hear the oven is all fixed (besides the light) and how nice that the repairman helped with the fridge and that Josh can fix it. Hope you get that itchy skin all cleared up soon.

Your quilted applique sounds interesting. I'll be waiting to see that one. :coffee:

happy you are starting to feel better, hope they can get the rash under control for you!
great you got the oven fixed...are the bulbs just blown due to the other issue? nice the guy helped out with the fridge!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: for the oven being repaired. I hope the light problem is an easy fix. And what a very nice repairman to look at your refrigerator today.

I hope you get into the doctor and they get that rash taken care of.

Trying to catch up on The Dis...

Just back from the Dr. She has officially added iodine to my list of allergies, and put me on some sort of creme - hopefully that gets rid of the rash... and she gave me a prescription for prednisone, if necessary. Hopefully I don't need it, because I've heard such nasty things about that drug.

I always thought that Dr.s aren't supposed to show emotion, but when I showed her my stomach - she did definately gasp. :rolleyes1

Anyways... Hopefully my itching stops soon. :dance3:

D~

I've heard horrible things about prednisone from the horses mouth, so to speak. DH had a childhood illness and he was on prednisone for at least 4 years. He swears that he'll never take it ever again.

Blessings on those repairmen who go above and beyond.

My hood light, over my stove, is always out. Not quite the same as the oven, but I just cook in the dark. But then again, I'm strange.

Poor Rocket. My girl plays games with her LED light. Sometimes it'll work and then, in the middle of some detail, it'll go off. I've got an Ott light that I use all the time so it's kinda low on my list of things to get fixed.

Yeah for a fixed oven!!!!

Boo to a part that needs to be replaced on the fridge!!! Hope the part comes in quick so you don't have to keep keep the fan on it.

I sure hope the new medicine helps get rid of the rash!! The itching sure is not fun!!!

Can't wait to see the new bag!!

she gave me a prescription for prednisone, if necessary. Hopefully I don't need it, because I've heard such nasty things about that drug.

I've been on it many times as I'm allergic to quite a few antibiotics :rolleyes2 but it will knock out an allergic reaction like nothing else! If you're miserable, take it! I've never had any really bad side effects from it and they definately weren't as bad as the rash!

I don't know if I said on here, but I loved the Mickey/Duffy bag! I was having interenet problems during the bidding, but that was a great price you got for it!

Good luck with the rash!

I have to add my 2 cents to the prednisone conversation here. I just finished a course of prednisone for my sinus infection. As long as you take as prescribed, you shouldn't have any problems. Of course, I still have the sinus infection, but it is better and I'm still on antibiotics.

I have allergies to many medicines also, mostly antibiotics, so I can sympathise.

Feel better soon.

BTW - we are finally booked for 9/5-14 at CBR! Putting together a plan for ADRs. I have most of them, just need to tweak a couple.

T

I think prednisone has gotten a bum rap. I have been on it for the past 15 years or more...along with a bunch of other stuff. The only side effects I have is when I run out or forget to take it...like not being able to walk...

When I first started it, I knew it would increase my appetite, so I carried carrot sticks around...worked great and I actually lost weight the first month.. but the other nasty things...never have experienced any of it.

Hope you feel better soon!

Nini

So glad to hear the oven is fixed finally! :yay::yay:

So sorry to hear about the fridge. :sad2: What a great guy to check it out for you!

Glad you got some help for the itch. And I hope the cream works so you don't have to take the drug. I think the more we can avoid drugs, the better.:crazy2:

Sounds like poor Mr. Rocket almost got chucked out the window. Maybe that will put the fear into him and he'll behave from now on. He should know better than to mess with someone who doesn't feel well! :rotfl:

I actually saw not one but 3 of your bags in person and now I am drooling for my turn and one of the bags was PLUTO

If I was in pre-injury condition I would have grabbed it and made a run for it :rotfl2: seriously your pictures do NOT do your work justice at all !

Saw Port Orleans FQ for the first time yesterday what a beautiful resort see why you love it
soooooo met Ruth and her 2 lovely daughters so wonderful to meet Dis family in person

Glad that they figured out what it was. I hope that the cream works. DH has had to take prednisone for his allergic reactions several times. It makes him crazy. He doesn't sleep and has trouble concentrating.

YAY for the oven!!!
boooo for the refrigerator!!! thumbs DOWN!

Glad your feeling better! Can't believe the cream didn't work for you! there has to be something else wrong there! Going to be checking in on you!!

Thanks Mo! Yah, I am bummed that the Benedryl didn't work either... To be quite honest - the prescribed cream isn't working either, I may end up filling that prednisone prescription today.

Glad to hear the oven is all fixed (besides the light) and how nice that the repairman helped with the fridge and that Josh can fix it. Hope you get that itchy skin all cleared up soon.

Your quilted applique sounds interesting. I'll be waiting to see that one.

I agree - it was so nice of him to look at our fridge.

It's going to be a day or two before you get to see the bag... My appt was right in the middle of my day yesterday, and I didn't get back to my bag like I'd intended.

happy you are starting to feel better, hope they can get the rash under control for you!
great you got the oven fixed...are the bulbs just blown due to the other issue? nice the guy helped out with the fridge!

Thanks Lisa. :) Your next trip is getting so close! I bet Megan is getting really excited! I plan to stop by your TR today, and hopefully find out everything about your trip.

for the oven being repaired. I hope the light problem is an easy fix. And what a very nice repairman to look at your refrigerator today.

I hope you get into the doctor and they get that rash taken care of.

Thanks Kathy! I hope the light problem is an easy fix too - I just have a feeling that it wasn't an option on this replacement part, so we will have to deal with not having a light. Annoying - but I just need to be thankful that my oven works at all. :thumbsup2

I hope so too - but it's not looking good at this moment in time.

I've heard horrible things about prednisone from the horses mouth, so to speak. DH had a childhood illness and he was on prednisone for at least 4 years. He swears that he'll never take it ever again.

Blessings on those repairmen who go above and beyond.

I am sorry about DH... I remember my mom being on prednisone too - but that was so long ago.

I can't cook in the dark... I can barely cook in the light. :rotfl2:

Yeah for a fixed oven!!!!

Boo to a part that needs to be replaced on the fridge!!! Hope the part comes in quick so you don't have to keep keep the fan on it.

I sure hope the new medicine helps get rid of the rash!! The itching sure is not fun!!!

Can't wait to see the new bag!!

Thanks Sandra. It's a total bummer about the fridge - but the repair man did save us from a much more expensive repair down the road - so for that I am thankful.

It doesn't seem like the medicine is helping the rash at all... I may fill the prednisone prescription today, because I dont' know how much more I can take of this.

I've been on it many times as I'm allergic to quite a few antibiotics :rolleyes2 but it will knock out an allergic reaction like nothing else! If you're miserable, take it! I've never had any really bad side effects from it and they definately weren't as bad as the rash!

Good luck with the rash!

This is good to know, and thanks to your post (and others), I am considering - seriously - filling that prescription today... I was hoping the cream would take care of the rash - but so far - it's done nothing.

I loved that Duffy bag too - thank you.

I have to add my 2 cents to the prednisone conversation here. I just finished a course of prednisone for my sinus infection. As long as you take as prescribed, you shouldn't have any problems. Of course, I still have the sinus infection, but it is better and I'm still on antibiotics.

Thanks for your reply about the prednisone... I am seriously considering taking it. The cream isn't helping, and I am desperate to have this gone.

Yay for booking!!! It's such a bummer that we will miss eachother by only a few days, but I am so glad you have your trip booked! :cool1: Only a few more days to get your ADRs in order, are you planning any good ones?

I think prednisone has gotten a bum rap. I have been on it for the past 15 years or more...along with a bunch of other stuff. The only side effects I have is when I run out or forget to take it...like not being able to walk...

Nini

Thank you so much Nini for making me feel better about the prednisone... It's because of all my great Dis friends that I am actually going to fill the prescription... I sure hope it kicks this rash to the curb, because it's really crazy!

So glad to hear the oven is fixed finally!

So sorry to hear about the fridge. What a great guy to check it out for you!

Glad you got some help for the itch. And I hope the cream works so you don't have to take the drug. I think the more we can avoid drugs, the better.

Sounds like poor Mr. Rocket almost got chucked out the window. Maybe that will put the fear into him and he'll behave from now on. He should know better than to mess with someone who doesn't feel well!

Thanks Lois... I agree about the fridge - but at least the repair man saved us from a much more expensive repair down the road.

The cream doesn't seem to be working, so I think I am going to end up filling the prednisone prescription... I totally agree with you about the drugs - I despise taking anything stronger than tylenol/ibuprofen/aleve - and I even dislike taking those, hopefully I won't have to be on the prednisone for long.

You are right - Mr. R was very close to being evicted... He should have known better.

I actually saw not one but 3 of your bags in person and now I am drooling for my turn and one of the bags was PLUTO

If I was in pre-injury condition I would have grabbed it and made a run for it seriously your pictures do NOT do your work justice at all !

ROFL!!! So glad you got to see 3 of my bags! Gulp! You know, that could only mean that you met 1 person. :thumbsup2 Keep in mind... My other 2 Pluto bags are in the parks right now too... I have lots of bags down there this week. ::yes:: It's so much fun to know that I can sprinkle Disney magic into other's trips, I love that! :lovestruc

ISaw Port Orleans FQ for the first time yesterday what a beautiful resort see why you love it

It is an amazing resort - very charming.

Isoooooo met Ruth and her 2 lovely daughters so wonderful to meet Dis family in person
feels like we've known each other for years some connections are like that ......blessings

Yay!!! So glad that Ruth and RuthIE got to meet finally! And so glad that your spirits are lifted - what a wonderful thing!

IHappy abt your oven hopefully the rash goes away soon prayers sent your way as always

Thanks Ruthie! I hope it goes away soon... It's driving me crazy!

Itried calling you but got msg that I couldn't get through I have a new emaill address text me w hen you can & I'll give it to you love to your family

Ruthie

Not sure what was going on with my phone yesterday? My foster-sister was trying to call me yesterday, and she was getting the same message... But when I tried to call Allison, and anyone else, it worked just fine. :confused3 I think it must have been something between the 2 different providers? I will try to text you today... It will be later this afternoon. Many hugs to you Ruthie... I also saw that you called me the other night, I have just been so busy (and drained) that I have't even had a chance to listen to your message... I will try to get that done today - as well. :3dglasses

**********************************************************

I worked on my bag for a few hours yesterday morning... I honestly don't have that much left to do on it, but I won't be able to carve out the time until (for sure) this afternoon. I really want to finish it today - but we will see...

I have to do the rest of my grocery shopping that bff didn't do the other day. Thankfully, I only have to go to one store (Target)... I only have a very small list of things, and coupons to boot... Hopefully I can stick to my list and only get exactly what I need. I must be very careful with the budget over the next few weeks so that we can catch back up after all the Co-pays and appliance repairs. This lesson has taught us that we need to keep a bit more in our accessable savings account.

As I told most of you above... I am planning to fill that prednisone prescription today... If I could only show you all this rash - I think you'd eek. :faint: It's not just this little bitty thing... It starts in unmentionable places and goes all the way down to my pelvis... then covers the whole front of my stomach from side to side... And I just can't stop itching it. I thought this cream would have done something for it - but I've done 3 applications now, and it hasn't even touched it... Nothing has diminished... Not the itching, not the inflamation, nothing... And I can't deal with it much longer.

Yesterday afternoon, my foster-sister stopped by, it was so good to visit and catch up with her... I haven't been home in quite some time, and it seems that I need to do that. People are starting to think I am staying away for a reason, and that is just not the case - I guess I just got swamped with life and I didn't realize how long it had been. It's on my list for this spring.

In the midst of all this madness, the girls and I received some lovely Pixie Dust yesterday, which I will post about shortly... It's been so long, and this just really made my day. :lovestruc

Last night was V's choir concert... It was a great concert. It's sad to think that we only have one more choir concert to go to... Neither of the girls are taking any vocal classes next year. :confused3 Allison is moving her interests to Photography... And Victoria is moving her interests to Art... I can honestly say that neither of these surprises me - they are both much more artistically inclined than they are musically - but I still think that music is such an important thing to keep in your life. :lovestruc

Anyways... I better get going - I have a lot to get done this morning. I will be back shortly to post about our Pixie Dust... :cloud9:

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

D~

Lynn has become such a good friend to me over my years on The Dis... I was fortunate to be able to Pixie Dust her last year, when we returned from our Disney trip... If you'll remember my 2nd Figment bag/wallet combo - that is her's. The bag was a gift from a friend of her's here on The Dis, and I added the wallet as my own gift.

I know that Lynn has met a couple of you (for sure, Oopsi), and possibly others?

Anyways... When I came home from the Dr. yesterday, I noticed all the bright colors Mickey heads on my front porch... It was just such a wonderful thing. I am so lucky to have all these wonderful Dis friends who think of the girls and I...

First of all - I want to comment on the note Lynn enclosed... As most of you know, I have this ribbon board (which has become known as "the board that will never be made") that I would like to hang in my sewing room, and I've been stashing all the little notes I've received over the years, in hopes of some day displaying them in my sewing room. The note card Lynn enclosed is just so sweet, really it brought tears to my eyes... Lynn is just the nicest and sweetest person I have never met, and I just don't know what to say to express my gratitude for the sweet words she wrote... Things like that mean a lot to me, really they do.

I thought I took a photo of the note card, but I did not. It reminded me of another good Diser friend though... Judy... It is her favorite scene ever... It's the one of Snow White kissing Dopey on the forehead... I will forever think of her and her little Lisa every time I see that scene. :grouphug:

OK - on with the pictures....

I had to wait for the girls to get home from school... It was quite funny actually... I had it sitting on the table, and V walked in first - saw the box - then ran to the door and YELLED DOWN THE STREET "Allison, we got Pixie Dust!" - ROFL... So the entire town heard about it. :rotfl2:

IMG_0036.jpg

Isn't that a cute box? There is no mistaking that we are a Disney lovin' family.

So, the girls sat on the couch... I read the card, and had to wipe the happy tears from my eyes... It really was such a lovely card, it was just as if Lynn was talking to me.

MM really thought the box was for him:

IMG_0037.jpg

Along with everything in it:

IMG_0038.jpg

Oh - yes, I did take a picture of the card, I knew it!

IMG_0039.jpg

IMG_0040.jpg

Victoria received a Goofy vinyl figure:

IMG_0042.jpg

And a case for her phone:

IMG_0043.jpg

MM after he realized that the bos was not for him - LOL

IMG_0044.jpg

And then Alli:

IMG_0045.jpg

She received a Minnie pouch (we are not sure, but she is going to use it to carry her sandwich on Fridays - she doesn't like "mystery fish meat" day at school) - an Ipod case, and 2 pairs of the CUTEST jammie pants ever... One pair she shared with me.

IMG_0045.jpg

IMG_0046.jpg

IMG_0047.jpg

And then... Please don't mind the photos of me... I really do look like death - and I can't even attempt to hold in my gut for presentable photos...

I got the cutest Donald Duck Vinylmation... I have not started collecting these yet, but I think I may have to start, because he is sooooo cute!

IMG_0048.jpg

IMG_0050.jpg

And then I also received the most adorable Donald Firefighter Christmas ornament...

IMG_0056.jpg

IMG_0058.jpg

All of my new Donald items will find a proper place in my Sewing Room.

And then, perhaps, the worst photo of me ever... The adorable jammie pants that Alli shared with me...

IMG_0066.jpg

So, Lynn - if you see this... Thank you so much from ALL of us! You really made our day yesterday... Everything is so cute and so perfect! THANK YOU!!!!!

**********************************************************

As I was uploading these pictures, I noticed that I hadn't shared any of V with out her braces yet... I know I promised them to you several weeks ago - and life just did a loop on me, and Alli never uploaded the ones she supposedly took on the photo shoot... :confused3

So... Yesterday, after school, V went to the neighbor's house (the one she always babysits for) and the mom did her hair and make up for her... Josh thought it was a bit much - but I thought she looked cute...

Here's V the morning her braces came off:

IMG_0002-1.jpg

And here she is yesterday, all dolled up for her choir concert last night:

IMG_0069.jpg

IMG_0068.jpg

And then at the actual concert... Let's see... Ummm... 2nd to the last row, right in front of the really tall girl in the back row...

I'm so sorry you are still itching! Hope you feel better soon!

We had a great time meeting Ruthie last night! How wonderful to meet a new forever friend! She took me to the BIGGEST Walmart I've ever seen. A huge Disney department with great prices! It's cool down here but sunny so no complaints from me. Our "D" bags are all in use ,we love them!! The French Quarter may very well be my new favorite resort. Our room is so convenient and I love the size! Hope everyone has a great day! Ruth
