Hello!

So haven't booked yet, but just starting to plan a May/June trip and obviously sorting out my priorities first, my thoughts turn to food! ;)

Has anyone on here been to the Auberge as a couple? Would love to hear about your experiences as it's one of the places we haven't eaten at DLP (normally put off by the price). Trying to decide if we should bite the bullet and book for it this time round?

Thanks!

Faye

Well, if you count myself and now grown up daughter as a couple then yes! We always eat here if it is just the two of us as it is our favourite both for the buffet and the décor. The theming is fabulous and there are lots of different areas to sit in. We particularly like the table by the small window looking out onto the courtyard garden. People seem to either love or loathe the food here (DS1 loves it as well but DH and DS2 don't - too many Mediterranean vegetables for them), but if you like lots of salads and dishes with a mildly north African flavour then this is for you and the setting won't disappoint.

Thanks a lot that's all v useful to know - I think we'll go for it. Neither of us ia fussed about character interaction but if it happens then great and like you say, the surroundings and themeing always look so nice! :goodvibes

Im sure I read in some ones TR that they went as just a couple will have to look for it for you! xx

My husband and I ate here for the character meal lunch on Saturday, Sep 27. My husband was not altogether thrilled when I told him I had reserved a princess meal for the two of us (we are in our 50's) but we loved this meal. The food was excellent; husband had lamb and I had scallops. There was always a character floating through the tables and we met all of them!!!

Another thing I absolutely loved was how well behaved all of the children were. This experience was so much nicer than the dining venues offered for children at WDW.

Thank you to previous posters who had left reviews; I would never have tried this without your comments and I would have then missed out on the best meal of our entire trip.

All I found at the moment but will keep looking

Oops! How stupid, I had read it as "Agrabah" not "Auberge"!!! So sorry, please disregard what I wrote earlier. :rolleyes1

@tinks_1989 Thank you so much for finding that quote, I really appreciate it. You're very kind. :goodvibes

@cherrymarzipan You've actually been more helpful than you realise as we've never been to Agrabah either but now we know to give it a try on our forthcoming trip :goodvibes

LOL at the confusion there - I was thinking - hmmmm, I know I haven't eaten at Auberge but I'm sure it wasn't a buffet.... I wonder if its changed!

I do things like that all the time. I have Disney-Brain!

Your experience will depend on how fussed you are about character interaction.

At Auberge you're paying a large premium for seeing the Princesses. For me, it's not worth it. I'd rather go to California Grill which is a similar price but much better food.

That's an interesting one Happy Tappy. We're not overly fussed about character interaction but we haven't really ever had any so who knows, we could become character interaction addicts once we try?! :rotfl:

But you raise another interesting point because we've never really taken advantage of any of the hotel restaurants - not even Inventions!! :scared1: :)

I agree I would much rather eat at California grill the food is really good plus you won't be waisting valuable park hours in a restaurant! X

We've eaten at the Auberge twice (both our trips) but that is mainly down to having two little girls, the eldest who was 3.5 yrs and 4.5 yrs each time, in particular was/is a Cinderella fan :goodvibes.

It is a fabulous restaurant, the food is nice, theming nice (things like music from the film playing subtley, the lovely tapestries of the film shots etc). BUT, if I didn't have children, I wouldn't go, having been and knowing what it is like. To me you pay the price for the Princesses - I honestly don't think the food is worth the price on its own.

If it were me and I was going with just my DH, I would eat at California Grill (would love to but just wouldn't take the girls at this age), Inventions (still character interaction but not necessarily the main thing about it), Blue Lagoon or somewhere similar - maybe even Walts. All those restaurants cry out slightly more adult to me (although clearly you can take children to all of them). But I've only actually eaten in Inventions out of that list and would love to do the others but not with the girls in tow :lmao:

I know for a fact if we went without the girls DH would feel uncomfortable somewhere like Auberge, but that is the way he is. Some men don't bother at all :rolleyes1.

Having said all that, if it is something you have been hankering over and think you will like it then give a shot. If nothing else, you will like the food :thumbsup2.

PS - We are booking Auberge again this upcoming trip - DD1 remembers it but DD2 doesn't and will love it I'm sure :lovestruc
