Going with my wife and 5yo son in late october for 7 days, would love to hear some great attractions we can see and should not miss. He's not big on rides. Would love to hear your expert opinions.

Wow! That's a large question! There are more attractions than I can count that a 5 yr old boy would love! We were there last June with my then 5 yr old DS and 9 yr old DD. They pretty much loved everything except for the thrill rides which of course we didn't try. His all time favorite was Haunted Mansion, but that depends on whether or not you feel it would be scary to your son. It wasn't at all to mine, but every child is different and only you could guage that. Big Thunder was also a hit, as was Kali Rapids, Buzz Lightyear and many, many others. My advice is to buy a good guidebook like the Unofficial Guide or the Passporter Guide and read, read, read. The UG gives good descriptions and star ratings by age group. I haven't read the Passporter as thoroughly, but it has a very loyal following on these boards. Besides, it's fun to read about the rides anyway!

Since he's not big on rides, you could steer toward character meetings, parades, firework shows in the evening, Kidcot stops in World Showcase. Many, many things other than rides to do. Again, the guidebooks will give you a ton of information.

In MK my sons wouldnt miss Swiss Family Treehouse, Aladins carpets(my 2 yr olds favorite), Buzz, Pooh, Peter Pan, Philharmonic, Race cars, and the tomorrowland transit authority for some reason both my kids absolutely love

Make sure and see Mickey's PhilHarmagic at Magic Kingdom. We love Soarin' at EPCOT, but you'll have to use your judgment as to whether or not your DS will be up for it. It does really feel like your flying sometimes, but we find that the warnings and motion sickness are way overdone. My DW's DM has motion sickness badly, and she loved it from the third row. Maybe request the third row when the CM lines you up at the end of the line, and make sure and get Fastpass, because the lines can be very long. I also always loved Figment (Imagination Pavilion) when I was that age, although they have changed his ride quite a bit. The Muppets 3-D at MGM is pretty cute, and check out Rafiki's Planet Watch at AK. Also, make sure that you go to Toon Town, Camp Minnie-Mickey, and meet up with characters wherever you see them. This is one of my DW's and my favorite things to do, and we don't even have kids yet. pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares has the times for when each character will be where at what times. You might even let him get in on the planning by choosing which characters he wants to see the most. And try to take him to at least one character meal. The characters come around at least once to each table, and it's a lot of fun. He could pick that one, too, or if you know his favorite character, you could surprise him by having breakfast where they are one morning.

And of course I forgot fireworks shows. In my opinion, Wishes at MK and Fantasmic at MGM are geared more towards kids than Illuminations at EPCOT.
