Attractions becoming movies-What do you think?

Another thread prompted this post. We saw POTC last night and everyone loved it. We have been looking forward to it for weeks. During the previews, we saw a Haunted Mansion movie is coming out starring Eddie Murphy. This is our favorite attraction at WDW, and all the way home from seeing Pirates, all we could talk about is which room in the HM was our favorite. Then we started talking about how much we want to go to WDW again.

If the HM movie is as well done as the POTC movie, I think this is a brilliant move on Disney's part to generate interest in their theme park, both for first-time visitors and repeats.

i sae pirates last night and thought it was great, i also saw the haunted mansion preview. i like that fact that attractions are becoming movies, its good for disney-more people might come to parks-and its good entertainment for us, who wish we could be in disney world everyday, we could put a dvd in the maching and watch the pirates or hauntd mansion, and call me crazy but i though i saw a commericial fo rpeter pan thats do out at christmas time

I think the rides becoming movies is great...as long as they're better than the Country Bear movie!!!!

Personally, I loved PotC and I think they did an excellent job in making it into a film. The Haunted Mansion doesn't look that good to me, though.

I've yet to see Pirates, and I haven't seen Country Bears (there's a reason for that;) ), but I figure as long as the movie is entertaining and stays close to the theme of the actual attraction, why not? I was a little worried at first, but it seems that most people love Pirates and I probably will too.:D

That is an example of how things can go horribly wrong. I have to confess I didn't see the movie, and line grinningghost, there is a reason for that. In my case, the commericals that came out were so offense regarding adoption, and we were in the process of adopting two darlings.

This looked and sounded like a bad idea from the start. Really, how desperate can Disney be for original ideas that they have to recycle theme-park ideas into movies? Sure enough, Country Bears seemed to bear out (pardon the pun) this assessment. Disney probably could still have found its movie plots from a better source (originality, again), as evidenced by all the jokes about Dinorama or Monorail movies. However, Pirates certainly seems to be more than worthwhile, whatever its origins may have been. I must say, I am (very) pleasantly surprised. Hopefully this will be a major blockbuster for Disney.

We can only hope that Haunted Mansion is of similar quality. The previews look well enough, so I have hope.

Hubby says it's just a matter of time and they'll be making a Carousel of Progress movie.;)

HM looks like it will be funny, and the kids can't wait. I really don't care where they get thier ideas as long as the movie is good quality. BTW- my kids loved Country Bears ( I didn't watch it thought;) )

But it will only be shown in peak season :p

I think it is wonderful idea both to promote the movie as well as the attraction. Talk about SYNERGY!!! As good as the reviews have been for Pirates of the Carribbean, I can't wait to see what it next!

Good going, Disney!:)

This is a little off track since disney doesn't own the rights to it {I don't think} but I think willy wonka would make a decent ride. Kind of like splash mountain, part thrill, part regular ride. The thrill part in willy wonka would be where they get into the boat and go through the dark tunnel with all the scary things and the fast speed involved. :p
