We are planning a Jan 08 trip...there are 5 of us (2A 3C) and I came across a fare for under $200/ea. Question is: is this a good fare? It is on Midwest with direct flights to/from Orlando. I want to fly Midwest but don't know if this is a good price or if I should wait to see what happens...

TIA,
Maria

We will also be going to Disney World around that same time. I would definitely say you should go ahead and book the flights. I purchased a nonstop flight for my husband on Midwest about a month ago and it was $267. (Myself and my 2 children will be flying free on American using airline miles--of course we can't fly nonstop :sad2: --it seems like you can never get good convenient flights using airline miles! At the time I purchased, $267 was the lowest price for a nonstop for the time period we are traveling. Since I purchased, I have seen the prices come down slightly but I have not seen anything much under $200.

The only other alternative you might want to consider is Southwest. I now wish I had waited to book my husband's flight on Southwest. The advantage to Southwest is that you can always rebook if the prices come down (and can get credit for future flights). Also, if you signup to receive the "dings" from Southwest, there are occasionally some really low prices. I received a ding about a week ago for $49 one way flights from KCI to MCO and back. This was limited to a time period during the summer so it did not work for us but you never know what might come out at some point for the times you are traveling. If you decide to go the Southwest route you will have to wait for a while longer to book your travel b/c you can only purchase flights through August 24, 2007 right now.

I hope this information helps! :)

We booked ours a month ago for our October trip (under $200, direct w/Midwest). This is a great airline. 2x2 seating, lots of direct flights and yummy fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (on afternoon and evening flights). DH and I used to fly w/American but the layover in DFW really takes a chunk out of your day. We'd much rather fly direct with Midwest. I know you will really love their service. :woohoo:

Oh, and last year we booked our October tickets at the beginning of January. The only flight change we had was the flight to Orlando was moved up 1/2 hour. This is so unlike all the horror stories I read about other legacy carriers. Also, waiting for SW would make me way too nervous especially if I wasn't going to save very much by flying with them. I like having things set way ahead of time. HTH.

We have always flown Southwest - can't beat 49 or 64 each way. We are going the end of Sept and have a credit at Southwest - just waiting for them to post their Sept/Oct dates - I love Midwest Air - but can't beat the early nonstop flights from Southwest.

We got our Midwest for $180 or so. Bought last August for this May. My mom and sister are also flying Midwest, but they paid $40-60 more per ticket. The price did go back down and they did get credits, however. We are so excited about the direct flights. Midwest did change their schedule (only once) and they let me pick my new flights and offered to change a date so that we didn't lose an entire day of our trip. So far, I'm very pleased with their customer service.

Thanks for the scoop, I'll have to keep my eyes on flying out of KC. We usually fly out of STL because my SIL will drop us off/pick us up and we save on the fees to keep the car in long term parking but the KC flights are usually cheaper.
