The last three EPs with DT will air on BBC America starting this month .

Waters of Mars will air on December 19 at 8 pm Eastern time.
The End of Time Part I will air on December 26 at 8 pm Eastern time
The End of Time Part II will air on January 2 at 8 pm Eastern time.

I'm going to miss David Tennant . While Peter Davison was my fave during the original series, David has been my fave since they brought Doctor Who back from it's hiatus. He did a wonderful job playing The Doctor and I especially liked his quirkiness (sp?).

Kind of reminds me of the conversation I had with my dad when I was younger and asked him what he was watching. It was the late 70's, early 80's and I didn't realize that the name of the show was Doctor Who. I started watching it with him and got hooked.

I wasn't really keen on David Tennant. I actually stopped watching the new series because of him. Although I will admit I didn't really give him much of a chance. I liked Christopher Eccleston, the guy before David Tennant. My favourites from the original series were Tom Baker and Peter Davison.

Yes, Matt Smith has already begun filming the 2010 season. He is really young, but we will not hold that against him

The funny thing about the new series. We were HUGE Doctor who fans when we were growing up. I was NOT thrilled that they were making new ones, figuring they would mess it up, and one day caught just a bit of one episode and thought it was dumb. Then DH convinced me to get it from Netflix and by the end of the first episode we were hooked. When Christpher Eccelston regenerated we instantly hated David Tennant... Once we got used to him (after his first full episode) we started to love him.
Now he is my favorite Doctor of all. Some of the storylines he had were just so good.

I am so sad about this. I absolutely adore David Tennant. I could watch him read the phone book and be happy. Hopefully someone named DH (hint hint) gets me the series on DVD for Christmas this year!

I was also afraid that the return would get screwed up as well, just like it did when it got "Americanized". It lost something.

I caught only a few EPs of Chris and realized that the writer(s) and producers had it right. I got hooked all over again. I even liked the fact that the stories took place in an hour and were complete (with the exception of a few two-parters). When the original series aired on public television it was only a1/2 hour and took a whole week to complete the story arc.

Has anyone had a chance to check out the new logo? I don't know if it's on BBC America's page still or not, but when I saw it, I didn't like and still don't. It looks too much like it belongs on the front page of a comic book not a respected science fiction series. Fans seem to like it though.

Given how all the other Doctors were 30 years old or older, it will be nice to see a Doctor that is a little younger, though to be fair, Matt Smith is only three years younger the Peter Davison when he became the Doctor, so Smith is not really that young for the role.

My interest in Doctor Who actually started with a job... I was a security guard at a movie theater, and from there I got a job working security at science fiction conventions. I had watched Star Trek as a child, but never watched any of the other big science fiction television shows, The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, etc., and never saw Doctor Who. While working security at one of the conventions, I met Jon Pertwee. That prompted me to check out "his show". I've watched the show through four or five regenerations now, including the last one from Eccleston to Tennant, they're all "the same" in this way: The new Doctor is different from the old. He better be, or it effectively violates the who principle of the show AFAIC. While his ethics don't change, his personality must, or it just isn't Doctor Who. Regardless, if you allow yourself to become overly beholden to the idea that a certain personality is Doctor Who then you are destined to not like the successor. I think, perhaps, because my first interaction with Doctor Who was with an actor, rather than a character, maybe I was pre-wired to not get too attached to (at that time) Tom Baker. In the back of my mind I was surely thinking about what Jon Pertwee would have been like, in the role.

Anyway, in watching Doctor Who, my intention is always to enjoy the show, and actually look forward to the change in personality when the Doctor regenerates. I'm actually quite a bit disappointed that we haven't seen a female doctor yet... I think that kind of change would be very interesting to see.

I think it is important to remember some of the older logos -- they were much more cartoonish than the new logo. The Tom Baker logo was especially cartoonish. I remember when the soon-to-be-previous logo was introduced, there were a number of comments about how dull and boring it was.

The new companion is a younger woman, Karen Gillan. She's in her early 20's, and mighty pretty IMHO. Her face reminds me a bit of Kyle XY's next-door neighbor/girlfriend.

I really enjoyed Jon Pertwee as the Doctor.
The only ones that we havent been collecting of the classic series are the first two doctors. I don't like Colin Baker. But DH does, so I'm stuck. Oh well, at least we share the addiction.

I agree about looking forward, it just takes me a little while to get there.
I was dreading the end of David Tennants run, but now I'm getting excited about Matt Smith and what he will bring to the role.

Y'know, I find myself missing companions more. I definitely missed Rose Tyler. I am very much looking forward to the new companion, Amy Pond, because I haven't enjoyed any of the companions since Rose.

(I don't consider Martha or Jack to be companions -- I think of both as recurring characters. I also don't think of either of them as gone, but just not in "this" episode.)

I never thought of the old logos as being cartoonish and thought they looked pretty good. The new logo, though, is just the initials "DW" in a cube like look.

I guess I miss seeing the whole title of "Doctor Who" and feel that the new logo of "DW" somehow takes away from the identity.
