Hi,

We have decided to book Rev Tim Herring for our Intimate Wedding in May 2007. He sent us his contract and asked that we send a $50.00 deposit. The problem we're running in to is that our personal cheques are in CAD funds. We actually emailed Rev Tim to ask if it would be okay if we made it out for $60.00 CAD; however, he said the banks charge such enormous fees that he only nets about $30.00 US.

I'm curious as to what other Canadian couples have done? I would like to avoid a money order because our bank charges a rather large fee to obtain one.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Karen and Jonathan

We actually opened a US$ Chequing account at a local bank because we gonna need it anyways for paying Disney FTW and photographer in the States.

When my sister did it...all she did was write USD beside the dollar amts. I have also done this numerous times...he gets his $50 USD and your bank will calculate exchange when the check comes to them for clearance.

Kevin & Teresa Knox had a link on thier website that I could pay by Paypal. If they hadn't I would have probably paid by money order.

Thanks for all the input. I called my bank and they said we could write a personal cheque in USD. As long as we highlight USD, there is no problem.

I let Rev Tim know that we mailed the cheque but he seemed skeptical that it will work. He said a UK couple tried this before and the cheque was refused.? It's probably a little different for the UK vs. Canada though. I hope.
