We are going to Orlando for the first time at the end of June, just my husband and I, spending one week in Orlando then a week on Sanibel. I am not a lover of big scary rides, and am looking forward to just absorbing the magic of Disney, Universal etc. Does anyone have any tips or hints for us first-timers ... places we shouldn't miss, things we should bring, buy, do, eat ... anything that would ensure we have a good time. All help much appreciated!

There will be loads to do even if you don't like the big thrill rides. In fact there is far too much to do in a week, so perhaps the most difficult thing for you will be to prioritise what to see and what to skip. There's a very good guide book by Simon Veness (who is a contributor and moderator on this board) which will help you decide what you should do. You can find it in most good bookshops or here on amazon.co.uk. You'll also find lots of people who can offer help if you post questions here.

My personal favourite are Animal Kingdom and Islands of Adventure. Both are wonderfully themed, and provide a great contrast with each other. You may even find that some of the thrill rides in IoA are just a little bit tempting, so perhaps you'll give them a try...

Regards

Rob

I can second the recommendation for Simon's book it's fantastic and aimed (as the title suggests) at us brits, we're going on our 4th trip on Saturday, yet I still found it really useful.

As Rob said, I would read as much as you can and decide which parks you want to do, all of it is so personal and there's so much to do in each park without doing the white knuckle rides.

You'll have a fantastic time :)
