We’ve gone out to Evermore for dinner and to explore. That body of water is enormous…the size of a small lake. It’s beautiful. But you can only swim in designated areas along the various beaches. Thanks! I'm not convinced it is big/grand enough for this resort, but we shall see... Wonder how it compares to Evermore/Four Seasons...
There was a significant portion of the underpinning/underground support structure that was completed for the reflections site before it was shut down. I don't think they made it to pouring slab/foundation but the underground stabilization for the structure (rebar and concrete piers/pilings) was completed prior. There are already 4 cranes at the site, so it seems to be very much in progress. Was all the earth moving and foundations done as part of the reflections work?
And this is why they can post a 2027 opening date. That's a good chunk of work, though most of it is invisible. There was a significant portion of the underpinning/underground support structure that was completed for the reflections site before it was shut down. Trailer park has a negative connotation to it. Fort Wilderness is a campground and that’s a totally different thing. I think it’s one of the loveliest in the world and a one of a kind jewel. I also think it’s going to be part of Lakeshore Lodge because the amenities have not been added yet to the cabins so it makes sense that they will be provided by the Lodge. I’m excited about the new resort but I just hope Disney doesn’t ruin Fort Wilderness campground in the process. The cabins are an abject and total failure if the goal was to sell points for the cabins (I am still not convinced of that).
Whether they lean into this failure and put the cabins in the lakeside lodge or whether they lean out and have a separate association, we shall see.
I agree with @CastAStone that they will be separate if I had to guess….
A high end nature retreat coupled with a trailer park makes no sense to me. But we shall see.
I think Fort Wilderness is a one of a kind jewel as well, and my wife and I love bicycling, hiking and even kayaking through it. But the prevalence of all those trailers and RVs is not completely kinda untrailer park-ish, and I’m not sure it’s compatible with the new resort.Trailer park has a negative connotation to it. I would happily sell my VGF if they promised me a decent mattress and a huge swimming pool.I think this site is going to be awesome. It'll really be a crown jewel right on the water over on that lake. We're speculating about something that isn't going to have any details for at least another year.
I wouldn’t trade the VGF dues for that maybe use them as SAP instead. That being said I think the king mattress is pretty comfortableI would happily sell my VGF if they promised me a decent mattress and a huge swimming pool.
But it’s not unreasonable to assume that the new resort, being built on the exact same footprint of the previously announced Reflections, in the exact same location, utilizing all the previously installed underground infrastructure, will wind up looking at least somewhat similar to the renderings we’ve seen. So we might very well be speculating on accurate details.I think this site is going to be awesome. It'll really be a crown jewel right on the water over on that lake. I can see where some people might feel that way. It just depends on your experiences and perspective. Here’s my history with it. My daughter had a field trip to Disney but the entire World was sold out except for 1 lone campsite. My husband convinced me to give it a try so we bought a tent and sleeping bags. I was dreading it but we ended up having a blast! We went and bought a camper and suburban to haul it just so we could go back and enjoy the campground and we did for many years. What I can tell you is the majority of the people in there have spent a lot of money for their rv’s and the sites are not cheap. We’ve seen million dollar rv’s in there. So it will be a trailer park to some and a campground to others but most who try it end up loving it.I think Fort Wilderness is a one of a kind jewel as well, and my wife and I love bicycling, hiking and even kayaking through it. I would not expect this. The WDW resorts are not destinations unto themselves. They are part of a much larger ecosystem, and designed with the expectation that most guests do not want to make the resort the focal point of their visit. People positively salivate over Stormalong Bay, but compared to many non-Disney resort pool complexes, it is "okay, I guess."and a huge swimming pool.
I'd say that Stormalong Bay is even only OK compared to what Disney themselves did at Aulani...I would not expect this. The WDW resorts are not destinations unto themselves. Yep, Aulani..dare I say... blows every other WDW pool out of the water! If LSL has anything close to Aulani's main pool that would be a big selling point.I'd say that Stormalong Bay is even only OK compared to what Disney themselves did at Aulani...
It's possible -- and I liked some of the old renderings, so I hope some of it remains -- but Disney does have a history of changing things up completely when new projects begin. Art of Animation was built on all the same infrastructure that was started for the second half of Pop Century (it was supposed to be the 2000s+, which is why the bridge was called The Generation Gap), but when construction halted due to 9/11 and the project was eventually restarted, they decided to do something entirely different, and Art of Animation was born (and I really like AoA, so I'm glad they changed). But it’s not unreasonable to assume that the new resort, being built on the exact same footprint of the previously announced Reflections, in the exact same location, utilizing all the previously installed underground infrastructure, will wind up looking at least somewhat similar to the renderings we’ve seen. Agreed, I would definitely blow some points on it if it has a really nice pool area. If it's as big as was originally proposed I don't think it would be hard to book here either. Would potentially be a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks.Yep, Aulani..dare I say... blows every other WDW pool out of the water!
