Hi all - can I use my normal maestro/solo card to withdraw money out of the US atms? - and if so will it be the normal exchange rate? - many thanks:)

yes but check your banks fees it is a very expensive way of doing it, just checked Natwest's card, if I have read correctly, 2.75% + 2% or for a transaction in a shop 2.75% + £1.25
I think the most expensive fees I have ever seen.

9. Foreign transaction charges
When we debit a transaction in a foreign currency,
either at cash machines or at point of sale, the amount
is converted into sterling (using our prevailing
exchange rate) and a transaction fee of 2.75% is
added. This is known as the Exchange Rate
Transaction Fee. Where you withdraw foreign currency
from a cash machine or make a point of sale
transaction in a foreign currency, you will also have to
pay the following charges:
• cash machine (ATM) withdrawals – 2% of the sterling
transaction amount (minimum £2, maximum £5).
• point of sale transactions – flat fee of £1.25 per
transaction.

and quess what? - mines a natwest one:eek: - think I'll be keeping it at then - many thanks:thumbsup2
