Atlantis or Blue Lagoon? Who has been to both? Which one is better? How is the food at the Sea Garden Grill ?

We went to the Blue Lagoon last spring. It was okay. Heard that you don't reaally get to do all the stuff at Atlantis like the water slide-only hear say so hopefully some one will respond that knows.

We went to both Atlantis and Blue Lagoon on a Carnival cruise last year. I loved Blue Lagoon because it just what I picture a tropical island looks like! There was a nice beach and palm trees and hammocks everywhere. However, Blue Lagoon sounds a lot like Castaway Cay, so you may get the same experience there. Therefore, I would vote for going to Atlantis if you don't have time to do both. We toured the aquarium at Atlantis but did not get a chance to use the pools or the beach. I hear they are fabulous!\

I have not been, yet... But, really it seems that these are two completely different experiences. I suppose it all depends on what exactly your preferences would be! :D

Blue Lagoon offers a more 'rustic' atmosphere - from what I can tell. It has gotten very mixed reviews on the boards here in the past. Some really like it, some really do not. Yes, there are hammocks, but I hear that they are set back in the trees, off the beach. Spendid for an adult who wants to relax the day away, perhaps read a good book... But I hear not so convenient for families with children who want to play in the water at the beach... I do not think it is the kind of place with nice beach chairs, etc. No pool. But what Blue Lagoon does offer is the Stingray and Dolphin experiences.

Of course, Atlantis is a very upscale resort type of experience... Casino, Huge pools, landscaping, Beach chairs and service, etc... True, in order really enjoy all of this, the thing to do is to reserve a room at the Atlantis, or the Comfort Suites across the street. And simply take a cab over to Atlantis from the dock. This will give you full access and prividges... pools, slides, beach amenities, entry to tour The Dig, etc... I hear that the excursion is more like their version of a '90 minute time share tour'. And includes a lot of walking (fast walking...) The tours take the ferry over, then you walk up from where the ferry docks to the Atlantis.

We are considering the Atlantis, on our own. It seems to be my preference. Even though it is true that cost-wise, Atlantis can cost quite a bit more.

Hope this helps a little bit. I know I asked this same question when we first started planning our cruise! ;)

Happy planning!

My vote would be for Atlantis. But saying that, I've never been. We just booked a room with Comfort Suites,(less than Atlantis) and you get full access to the Atlantis.
Atlantis charges you for the room, plus 45.00 extra each child! Plus it's cheaper than the excursion through the ship and you don't even get to use the pools and slides with that excursion. So IF you decide to do Atlantis, def. book with c.suites.

Have a great time! We can't wait to go!! :Pinkbounc

My vote goes for atlantis, blue lagoon is just like castaway(well castaway is better)plus that ride over and back can be rough, just my opinion;)

i have been to both---
atlantis is , as a previous poster said, a huge resort, with casinos, nice restaurants, incredible pools and slides, the Dig is cool, underwater tunnels, stingrays and baby sharks swimming in open pools--it is amazing...(though the beach isnt so great, imho).....
blue lagoon is a great tropical island day, and stingray city is very cool, though the water was rough the day we went--too rough for my 4 yr old--nice beaches, acceptable food, cheaper day, very beachy....
they are different experiences--you have to decide which one you want....
