EDITED: Scratch that! Looks like it isn't happening. Bummer. https://www.staradvertiser.com/2021...-hawaii-atlantis-resort-in-financial-straits/

ORIGINAL POST: Maybe this is already common knowledge, but I just heard about this right now. Do you think this will have an effect on Aulani resale prices? Do you think it would make Aulani more or less valuable? I could be more because the area could be more exciting over all, but it could be less, since it won't be the shiny new thing anymore. Thoughts? https://lookintohawaii.com/hawaii/45359/atlantis-resort-at-ko-olina-hotels-oahu-kapolei-hi

I thought the developer was having financial issues and was trying to sell that off? That was in maybe late summer 2021, I thought, but I may be misremembering.

The project is pretty much dead, and has been for quite a while now.

Personally, I’m glad it’s not being built, and as an Aulani owner I’m not going to have to face years of construction and the additional noise and commotion that go with it. I also like that Ko Olina is kind of laid back, and for me a monstrous mega resort and water park, with the possible accompanying crowds, right next door does not provide any additional value to the Aulani experience. Sooner or later there will no doubt be some development there, but I hope it’s more in line with the resorts that are already there.

Atlantis was scrapped. Of course, it is possible that something else will eventually come in its place. For now, I enjoy the points savings for the Island garden category that has a partial ocean view.
